- (📹 6/14/2024) Here are the world famous elevators at the Cathedral of Learning in Pittsburgh PA. I've been wanting to see these for quite a long time. When I came here back in 2022, this building was closed to the general public since they were still stuck in a Covid hole, despite everything being reopened at that time. Now I finally managed to see these, and they were awesome and disappointing at the same time. The good stuff is that these are quite awesome to ride and had plenty of fun on these. I also like the size of the elevators too. The views out of there are spectacular too. Unfortunately, I did not film the Gen2 modded elevator since it was broken. The bad stuff is the aerodynamics and the ride quality sucks. The amount of turbulence produced going in either direction almost reaches the threshold of a nauseating ride, especially for those who are more sensitive. Had Fujitec or Mitsubishi modded these, that would never happen. The accelerations almost remind me of a Dover Composite elevator too.

If they accelerate like Composites, thats my type of elevator. I love it when you feel your stomach drop.
I love the Dover style accelerations, but not the turbulent ride quality these have while traveling at full speed
And literally like half of the elevators here are broken due to water damage. I think 4 cars including the O Car are currently broken. There was a little bit where the O Car was open on the 36th floor & the ceiling had mold/water damage & the COP swing-return was open. These were actually supposed to get TK TWIN, the 1st in the U.S. Marshall was approved to install them in 2006, but the university held off, & by 2014 when they got the funding to do a mod. to these, Otis had bought Marshall. Would've been so much better if these actually had TWIN.
Twins would've been freaking cool.
there is a elevator on one of the floors that goes to the top
It was broken when I went
It may take too long to get it back up and running because of all the damage. The only way to get up there is the stairs.
