    I recently purchased the Sit Down version of Outrun and I’m really enjoying it so far!
    For reference.. I’m 5’10”, 160 pounds and find the cab very accessible for the cost, absolutely!
    My only issue was that I found it more comfortable to turn the bench backwards because I disliked stepping over the side walls each time off and on the bench. Bench height(top of the cushion) is 14.5” off the floor for anyone concerned.

    • @KongsRUs

  • @Mightywhiskaz

    I did a really simple fix to make my sit down comfortable. Put the pedals inside the cab. Drilled a hole for the wire to pop out the back a little. Put a wood block under the pedals to prop then up at an angle and removed the panel with the game logos for more leg room. I sit with my legs extended comfortably and am much closer to the screen so I dont have to lean in or scrunch up to hit the pedals

I just hope that Sega finally doing something with OutRunners for the first time in decades is a sign that the arcade version of OutRunners will soon be officially available on consoles and on Steam (yes, I know MAME exists, but I still want to be able to own it).

    The games look good but the csb looms too small. The design would have been better if the machine was on a riser and ths seat part couks be higher but that said. Hats off ti arcadec1up for attempting such a off the wall cabinet. I think its great for kids and 20 somethings that missed out in the eighties arcades and hope they continue to release unique cabs as we all need a smile and they do make me smile these compact cabs...

  • @ThomasGrillo
    @ThomasGrillo Před 3 lety

    Really enjoyed this review. I would highly recommend building a custom riser, maybe 3, or 4 inches high, at most, so you can get the pedals, feet and knees in a more comfortable position. Next, loose the bench, and bring in a nice, comfortable office / gaming chair. I agree with you. Those pedals should've been made with either thicker plastic, metal, or a combination of the two, for the levers. I wouldn't count on those lasting the first year. Thanks for the video.

  • @BT3985
    @BT3985 Před 3 lety +1

    I feel a little better about the sitting position. I was worried when I watched your other video. But since the bench is shorter and I’m a couple inches shorter than you so I might be ok. The thing about it was that if you made even the slightest mistake you couldn't finish - you could see the banner showing the finish line and bah fail. I'd buy that Arcade1 machine but (1) I have no money and (2) if I did buy it, I'd end up getting a frying pan smacked on my head.

    Awesome review man! Maybe I could sit down comfortably playing this after all being 6' 5" and such. lol And like I suggested on your build stream, put a Ferrari logo on the horn cap. And of course put Sega logos all around the cabinet to make it look better. Anyway there are so many racing games made, that could work with this cabinet when you mod it. I modded the Frogger Arcade1up with a custom 2 player control panel along with 20 buttons. Running off a Raspberry Pi 3B+, a cheap amp, a volume control knob hidden underneath the control panel., two 4" speakers under the control panel. (the J panel piece) Also I have extra USB hookups to connect a flight stick, steering wheel and pedals, trackball, spinner etc...
    I also got a Space Invaders 40th Arcade1up cabinet cheap. That I will be running off an older computer tower, a custom 4 player control panel, as well as hookups for all kinds of different controllers, sticks, trackball, spinner, steering wheel and pedals etc... As well as an amp, extra speakers, volume control knob and 40 buttons. The tower will more than likely running of off Launchbox for the front end.

    Decent attempt by A1Up but still plenty of work to do to make the racer fans content.
    From a basic design standpoint I think they could have made the deck wider with it going past the sides like Jam. Would have given it a bigger feel and allowed the wheel to be centered and more room for the shifter.
    The problem is the bench fabric and pedal quality. It's only a matter of time before we hear about tears in the bench from buttons on jeans and broken pedals from grunts that have no control when they're playing and just jam the pedals.

    • @LezardMan002
      @LezardMan002 Před 3 lety +5

      Because the original vehicle is a ferrari. In other words, they would have to deal with copyrights in order to have that ferrarri in the game. So to avoid having to pay extra for copyrights, they used an alleged car instead.

    • @KongsRUs
      @KongsRUs  Před 3 lety +2

      no deadzone, if you go to the end of the video where I test ENG mode, you can see the sensitivity of the wheel picking up at the slightest turn. the gameplay emulation it self might have some limitations of reading it immediately. almost like a software deadzone, but in terms of the wheel itself, it registers perfectly in test modes

    • @KongsRUs
      @KongsRUs  Před 3 lety

      the pedals fit into the groove nicely so they shouldn't move. if you wanted to put it inside the cab and have it adjustable, you'd have to do some heavy modding to the cab go make it work. I made a full video on how I finished modding my outrun cab: czcams.com/video/5IuVlht_TMM/video.html

      sorry, but i haven't haven't tested a stock outrun in a while. Maybe there's a way to reset the controls, but it sounds like you might be having issues with your wheel in general. i'd recommend taking off the back plate behind your control panel and double checking the 3 pin connection from your wheel into the encoder. Then you can try accessing the calibration screen again to see if it registers. good luck!
