Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted to know. I wish Nissan would do a recall on these cars. This is a serious safety issue with their cars.

You would think this certainly should have been recalled. Shame on Nissan for not taking care of this.

It's one thing to tell people what the problem is, but you show the defective/burnt part. Thanks for making it clear Randall.

Man...this needs to be a class action suit for a manufacturer defect. I've seen people complaining about this issue and Nissan is telling customers to pay an excess of $1,000 to get the headlights replaced. That is EXACTLY why I appreciate people like yourself helping out the little guys. Thank you for the explanation.

7/9/21 Suarez et, al. v. Nissan North America, Inc., Case No. 3:21-cv-00393 This is the class action lawsuit that has reached a settlement that will compensate past and current owners for past expenses to replace headlight assemblies as well as pay for future expenses and provide extended warranties on the headlights.

Bro you just answered the questions I had in my mind as I have been working on this issue myself. My passenger side is low and after upgrading the bulb it now it bright white but the passenger side is dimmer. As I used some canned air (which did nothing im sure) I noticed that area looking dark but I did n't understand that it was a major reflective device and this is what the mechanic at the dealership was trying to explain to me. He said I need a new light assembly and 99.9% of the time cleaning wont work and you with that mighty hammer have just confirmed it form me. Guess its a new assembly for me as well. Thanks a bunch. Freakin Nissan.

For those of you who replace both assemblies, I would suggest you keep receipts and the old ones as evidence. Maybe you can be reimbursed for the money you had to spend to replace the units.

The new ANZO set I got has a heat sink on the bottom where the originals have an empty place molded for this and was deleted when they built it. Seemed like a great idea! lookup, when the airlines took away one olive per salad, saved thousands of dollars. The only difference is this delete to save money potentially KILLS People! Almost happened to my family this is the reason I purchased a new set as they at $600 and a new car I do not have the monies to purchase. They need to recall this there has probably already been an incidence where this has played a part and the owner did not know why they crashed could have been seen and avoided.

I hear you...cutting corners on being able to see can get people killed. I just went with a cheap set off ebay ($140) and went with LEDS...as they don't make heat. No problem since...

I have a 2018, this is still an issue. I was ran off the road due to low beams being so poor that I couldn't see the edge of the road, cost $7200 to fix after the accident. This is the first Nissan I've owned and last Nissan of any kind I'll own. This has been a problem since 2013 and they dont care enough to address the problem.... never again

They were both terrible, however it wouldnt be surprising for one to have more chrome loss in the housing than the other...I would reccomend changing both housings. It would be silly to just change one after the work required to get to them. There is the possibility that you have a bad ground on one assembly but its unlikely on a 5 year old car.Good luck!!
