    I'm learning to run with my lazy habits and lack of cooking. I just grab a whole piece of fruit and eat it. I grab a veg and just eat it. No cutting, no cooking, no actual effort.

      Fabulous! Lazy for the win. :) Just make sure you're getting plenty of good starches, too!

    Fantastic interview. So relieved to hear the clarification of my confusion. Happy to know that I do not have to eat vegetables for breakfast nor do I need to eat 1 pound of lettuce for lunch and 1 pound of lettuce for dinner.

    So glad this popped up for me - so helpful to hear those facts about McDougall program.

    I have only heard Chef AJ advocate per her programs -eating when hungry & until comfortably full-the same as the McDougall plan.

    BINGO~Hunger leads to hanger which leads to “poor food choices!” This is what I do “often” and sadly I think in my “twisted little mind”…it’s my excuse for that poor food choice. I know this to be true for me: but when Stacy spoke it out loud: I heard it loud and clear🥳woohoo
    Ohhh~I love the new word for processed food….pre~digested (good word vision). Man~this video is loaded with “golden~nuggets” you guys just addressed “over eating.” This video really spoke to me….Thank You! I’ll be working on those habits that no longer serve me and start practicing some that serve me well🙌

    My biggest struggle has been learning to give myself grace and take steps not leaps. Dr said go all vegan now. Considering i didn't even know what vegan was. It was a full on overwhelmed panic attack trying to figure it out and switch overnight! I have regrouped and decided to give myself 6 months to get to 75 percent vegan and go from there. That's doable! I don't even know a vegan and i love all the foods i am now choosing to give up for my weight and health. Thank goodness for you guys, broccoli mom, and such to help me learn!

    You can trust your body and your hunger cues. What we can’t. Trust are our emotions. Our emotions can make us want to eat when we’re not hungry. Stress can make you want to eat when you’re not hungry. Sadness can make you want to eat when you’re not hungry. But Stacie’s right you absolutely can. Trust your body is hunger cues.

    Think starting with hunger and fullness cues seems to be best start point for me so far.

    I must say that I really enjoy watching all your videos! I really think, Kathy & Cheryl, you both should be part of the Dr. McDougall team! You give so many tips ! You are so real and are an inspiration! I’m doing this lifestyle for my genetic deficiency (CPT2). This seems to help it and at the same time, I lost 10 pounds! That is a side effect and I wasn’t really doing this initially to lose weight! Anyway, you both are doing great! Keep up the good work! 😃

    Eating the same meal every day sounds absolutely boring! I need variety or I feel deprived. I can eat on point, but I like variety. That’s why I love watching your show Cathy!

      I'm like that most of the time, but Cheryl likes consistency. That's why I love McDougall - we can do what we like best!

      I think you misunderstood. What I was trying to convey was that a good change for 2024 is to pick a meal (any meal) to always nail, every day. Like I said, you can eat whatever you want for that meal, but become committed to always having an on-plan breakfast, for example. Also, most people eat the same thing repeatedly for a long period of time, whether they’re eating the McDougall way or any other way. Only you can determine how much variety you need. Nobody ever told you you have to eat the same meal every day!

    I have so much trouble with hunger and fullness cues. I eat by the clock. I know this is a huge problem. My brain tells me I'm hungry, or I have a headache, or the clock says it's time to eat, so I eat. Does anyone else have trouble identifying when they're hungry vs simply wanting to eat?

    • @KathyHesterVeganRecipes
      @KathyHesterVeganRecipes  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Cheryl and I had a horrible time with this at first, but it's gotten much better. To start with we'd use the clock, as in eat at 9, 1, and 6 - but now we try to listen to our bodies more.
      The more we listen, the more we hear as time goes on.

    • @stacycross8480
      @stacycross8480 Před 7 měsíci

      Hey Trish, this is not a huge problem. Feeling like you need to eat can feel like headaches, low energy, even a bit of discomfort in your jaw or throat. Everyone feels it differently. Just keep practicing paying attention to your body OVER the clock and you’ll get the hang of it! ❤

      Maybe drink a large glass of water, wait 15 minutes and see if still hungry or if needed hydration.

    My question to Stacey is if we’re not eating enough vegetables are we getting enough nutrients? Because I’m always worried that I’m not eating enough vegetables. I eat vegetables, but am I getting enough nutrients?

    • @stacycross8480
      @stacycross8480 Před 7 měsíci

      Hi Robin, you will obtain all of the vitamins and nutrients you need from eating a diet consisting of mostly whole plant starches with some fruits and vegetables. No worries!
