WOW!! Now sus, 9, 11 and 13th makes total sense Plus the cycle of 3rds totally demystifies the process.

Wow! Love the way you presented this not so easy topic. The most valuable 1/2 hrs in learning chords.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Learning theory the right way. So much appreciated Ricky.
    Love you all Bill.

Fantastic video clearly explained. Thank you so much. I studied music theory in school, bought books on the subject, struggled to play multiple instruments and this is the easiest to grasp. Well Done. Just subscribed.

Brilliant Ricky 😊 for a person like me who learnt guitar without any theory’. Everything seems to make sense now. Wow wow wow. Thank you for sharing.

Really enjoyed this - I find this sort of working out appeals to me - I can't just think in pure shapes I need to understand how it works. Thanks

love your lesson, I m 49, started playing at 40, got my online grade 8 completed this year but my theory is weak, it's such a good lesson for me.

This is the best video on this subject I have ever seen! I never understood the sus2 vs add9 until now. It seemed so much more complicated until your explanation of what “suspended” means in relation to the 3, which really made it click for me!
    Thanks Ricky!

Awesome video! I have been learning theory throughout my music Journey and up until this point every video, or resource I learned from was focused on how to make certain chords, but not on the importance of the role each note plays and how to balance them out to maintain an interesting tone.

I loved this lesson, especially too many eggs in the pudding!😂 I would love a poster of a key center and all the possible theory possible in that single key. I am going to do this on my iPad, I always learn so much by writing things out. Your channel is wonderful and I learn so much from you.

Love this video. The more I learn about music theory and chord structures the better! And I finally get an understanding of the CAGED method. I just have to watch the video 10 more times.😂

    Excellent!
    Sus = sustenido/sharp/#
    bemol/flat/b
    # sharp 1/2 note higher
    b flat 1/2 note lower

    Hi Ricky
I made a comment on your last post about finding the right video for the right lesson in your book.
I am still struggling to understand how to find the correct video for the lesson.
For example how do I find the video for lesson 2.
I typed in the link at the bottom of page 7 of your book in Google, can't see where lesson 2 is anywhere.
Music Theory is quite taxing at the best of times, I just wished you had made it easier and quicker to get to your videos.
I know you put a lot into these videos and we all appreciate it, and I thank you greatly.

Putting the link in Google isn’t how it works. You type the link in the address bar of your browser and it takes you to a page on my website with the video embedded in the page.
      Here’s a help document bit.ly/rickysguitarURLguide
If you’re struggling with that I created a spreadsheet that’s even easier.
      rickysguitar.com/ebookindex
Let me know if that helps. It’s much easier if you join my facebook group as all updates are pinned posts in there

      Hi Ricky
      Thanks for the reply,
I hadn't realised the thing about typing into the address bar, I was just googling it.
Another thing is that if you try it on your phone's address bar it goes straight into Google search.
I used my laptop and it worked brilliantly and even better was your spread sheet you made up .
Your a true gent and everyone should buy your book
it's awesome as our US friends say.

Ricky, you are simply genius in explaining the theory of music chords. Creating charts and diagrams just to show how those chords are related to each other. My respect. Chapeau!

  • @kevkonk
    @kevkonk Před 5 měsíci +1

Probably not up this level yet, but watched anyway.
Does suspended only ever apply to the third only and nothing else?
For the notes on the compound, are they all worked out to be actual octaves of the simple octave, or does it not matter and they are interchangeable?
