His slaps must leave hand-shaped welts for days on the targets he unleashes upon. It's no wonder he above all else makes his opponents cry from sheet pain.
Honestly, even ignoring the pain and the head trauma, imagine dishing out as much punishment as he did and just seeing your opponent hardly even fucking flinch. The sheer willpower Young James showed is inspiring.

This fight was extremely poetic since the stakes are incredibly high, they aren't fighting over something trivial like money or power, they are fighting for honor. Wolverine is fighting to prove that his beard isn't the reason he wins and Young James is fighting for his title back. This makes the fight not just epic but also emotional, so much so that no matter who you are rooting for you can't help but feel for the person who lost.
I feel like if young James were to drop down a weight class he could possibly be champion, he has heart a solid chin and good power I believe he could definitely be a champ at a lower weight class, or maybe even with a long training camp with a good coach and maybe bring Francis ngannou in to corner him also
To be fair I think part of that was from the fact that until the end of the match we couldn't actually see the damage he had been inflicting onto Wolverine.

Wolverine lost once. It was an actual round battle (not limitless slaps) vs Darius the Destroyer. It was a controversial loss as many, myself included, disagree with the verdict on that fight. Darius is a tough opponent though as he is undefeated to the last of my knowledge. I just want a rematch with unlimited slaps.

Honestly I think competitive slapping still has a ways to go in terms of viewing. The way its set up right now, at least from the audience's perspective, favors the person on the left since we don't get to see the damage inflicted on their face while we get a full view of the injury of the person on the right. We only got to see how Wolverine looked at the end, which did break the illusion that Young James barely scratched him, but the tension didn't really come from Wolverine at all when it could have been much more interesting to see him power through those bruises and marks. It really looked like Young James wasn't doing anything to him with how stone cold he was for most of the match, which made it seem even more one-sided.

I was watching the slapping playlist, watched this whole vid through, watched 2 ads for the next vid, to come back to salute the man on the right. Hellfire broke loose and he stood his ground more than anybody believed. Nothing but respect for this brave young man.
