- Hey Got the chance to take this beautiful bonneville salt denim 2018 softail slim out for a ride to do a review. I think their were a lot of great improvements on the model and was pretty impressed by it. The floorboards have been redesigned so they no longer scrape on corners and the monoshock is highly noticeable as the bike glides down the road. The seat has been completely redone so it's a lot more comfortable to sit on during longer rides. It's 10% faster from 0-60 and has a 34% stiffer frame. This is a gorgeous motorcycle with the classic world war 2 bobber style. Hope you guys enjoy the video! Stay riding and stay Awesome!
Thanks Jax, great review. Subscribed. I just picked up bought one of these 2018 FLSL 107ci in wicked red , few weeks back at harley HD dealership summer markdown sale in Arizona. His review is dead on. Super comfortable ride. Smooth great looking bike. I have not scraped the floorboards yet. Forward controls feel great. Hollywood bars are perfect. Not too much vibrations. The front and rear suspension is amazing. Tons of passing power. Smooth downshifts. Range dist to empty meter. Easy and fun to ride. The stock seat back hump is kind of annoying for me but theres tons of seat options. And im planning on upgrading exhaust. I highly recommend this bike
Hello thanks for your comment. I intend to purchase one very soon. I wanted to ask you how tall you are ? Is this bike OK for tall riders ? Thank you very much for your help.
Likely picking up one of these in the next 3-5 months. Love that white. Thanks Jax.
Well done on the slim Harley. Such a good job i got my wife one (Billiard blue is stunning)
It's so awesome when a company resolves a known issue with their product.
Rode that bike at Harley demo days a while back. Loved it! Great smooth ride and power to boot.

Yes a very fun and responsive motorcycle!
Great review mate. Subbed 👍
Jax, it is a very nice review, really beautiful bike for solo rider. I like that bulky-beefy front tyre, laced wheels and Hollywood handlebars, the concern which I have relates to footboards, which have forward control position, therefore my legs are not firmly grounded on them. It still has poorer lean angle, than others, was improved though. Visually this bike is the most beautiful Softail, 10/10, combination of chrome and black looks amazing. that big round headlight - gorgeous, would love to have it in my garage alongside with my FXLR.
I agree that the slim is one of the best looking softails with the old school bobber look. this bike is gorgeous in this color as well.
sorry Jax, you are right. I will edit my comment.
I will as well. No problem my friend!
You have an awesome job, wish I could go to school and get picked up by Harley. Have you been to the Thunder Beach Rally? Is it any better than going to Daytona?
I'll be picking up a new Harley in the next few months, trying to decide which one I want. I have it narrowed down to these: Forty Eight, this Softail Slim and the Fat Bob. I love everything about this Slim except the floor board. Any idea if those could be removed & replaced with a standard foot peg? If the Forty Eight had a larger gas tank, that's the one I would get, so I'm looking into if a larger tank can be put on the Forty Eight. The Fat Bob is a contender too, just not sure I like the new design, just does not scream "harley" to me.
Any body have suggestions for sfter market on the slim? Im really in to the look, but it seems like the after market for the slim is 1/2 that of any of the other models
Just picked up my ‘18 Slim on Tuesday. Upgraded from a ‘16 sportster 48. So much more power and so much more comfortable!
JT
awesome Man! Congrats, I bet you're loving it!
Fast-Action Jax it’s awesome! I’m blacking out the engine covers and adding black Vance and Hines slip ons. They should be here any day.
Fast-Action Jax oh... and I haven’t scraped the floor boards either. But I haven’t taken her in the mountains of western Montana yet either. They’re full of sand. It’ll be a good month before I can take her over the passes
JT MY old 48 would vibrate like crazy. I loved the size but the vibration took the joy out of riding. How do you compare the change?
Is there a way to change the location of the license plate from the side to the back?
Love your reviews brother and clear and concise content. My only tiny creative criticism would be your vids are all kind of muffled. Maybe it’s on my end but I don’t think so. Keep up the good work!
You could be correct my friend, I have since changed my mic so it should be better in my newer videos!
I don't like the fake cap on the tank. I wonder if there's something else you can put there? Flush cap?
I wish I had bought the Low rider S last year as I really like the 110 in the Now defunct S model. I do like the new Low rider but also wish they had put duals for the front brakes and had given the day maker headlight as standard equipment at the price of the new Low Rider.
dheller777 although their are definitely some pros and cons on the new Lowrider I do like the fact that you can build it to a 114 fairly easily which would make it a complete monster. I agree about the front brakes as I'm a fairly aggressive rider but the new Lowrider having abs I think they felt it wasn't necessary, but that's just a guess. Who knows really.
It has the day maker headlight as standard ))
There's still 17 FXDLS to be had.
Zachary Yost Exactly, no one drives the 110 long unless they just enjoy roasted nuts.
What about the floor boards did u scrape them yet?
Tell us more about the floor boards again.
Thumbed up for looking after a demo bike rather than abusing it
Hows the floor boards fit?
How exactly have they changed the floor boards?
they are narrower
What stop sign
Haha I was thinking the same thing
2012 was the first and the best!!
Between this and the new 2018 Deluxe which do you prefer?
Chris Van Tassel i like the deluxe & the sport glide
Street Bob or Softail Slim?
Wich is the best option?
Thanks.
personally I like the street bob a little more for a few reasons. the msrp is a little lower which i could imagine would be a plus for most and it has a little taller bars which i like more. also I'm not a huge fan of floorboards because the way I ride. So I always advise riding them if you have a general interest because everyones needs are so much different
I am curious as well between the 2. I feel like once dressed up, they both would look rather similar just the slim has a fatter front tire and a larger fuel tank
Engine is it a 107?
What do you see as a difference between the Heritage vs slim. In regards to handling. I like having the saddlebags and windshield. I like the looks of the lowrider but on the slim and Heritage the controls are a little forward. For a big guy.
The handling is basically the same between the two but the slim has a little narrower rear end and tire so it can be a little snappier around corners, the wider the rear tire the more resistance you get in corner. The heritage doesnt have a 240 so therefor it wouldnt be a dramatic difference but you'd feel it. the slim is also lower so I'd suggest riding both to see which you prefer. the slim looks great with a windshield and really finishes off the WW2 look.
Thanks I have a Road Glide now, thinking of the Heritage (lighter quicker responsive around town) more so, as it has the bags, windshield, and lighting. Not sure it would be for mini touring trip
Jax, out of all the new soft tail models which do you like the most? The Street Bob is nice but don't care for the handlebars and this soft tail is very intriguing. Which is the best in your opinion?
DeMonte' Lackey honest I know this is probably going to sound nuts but I love the Fatbob, definitely my favorite, I love the look and the way it rides. But I wouldn't buy it. Not quite my style, I'd buy the Street Bob most likely
Hello Jax, would you recommend this bike for a first time rider such as myself? Thank you!
this bike is low, balanced and handles very easy and I dont think you'd have any problem on it as a first bike, but since it is a low bike the floorboards could scrap and spoke you a little although the issue with the floorboards is much better. I dont think it'd cause you any issues but I'd like you to be aware of it. also, I'm not sure if you'd be riding 1 or 2 up but the slim isnt the best motorcycle for a passenger although I see people do it. It's just not comfortable for a passenger really without destroying it's look. It handles like a dream though!
All Harley exepted Ultra can be a first bike. I ve work for HD and the modern HD are very very good bikes because even if it is heavy, it is very handy and balanced. If you rich enought to buy one, you can go.
loo lolo is correct, any I seen many first time riders buy sportster all the way to ultras. you could definitely handle this motorcycle with no issues
Fast-Action Jax Thanks for the replies fellas appreciate it 👍🏽👍🏽
What about the FLOOR BOARDS?
steve imperial
What about being PETTY?
Would u please forget about the bike and tell us again about the floor boards.
Sounds like the transmission still has clunks? Any smoother than previously? Is the fueling smooth?
It feels much smoother but yes still has a Clunk. I think Harley will always have that but it's improving greatly and a whole lot better
I will add a tall clear windshield on that bike and that would be it.
windshield is not for bobbers, imo.
I have seen a few slim with windshields and the old school spring seat and it compliments the bike very very well. Definitely completes the WW2 bobber style as almost all of those bikes in that era had windshields.
in my opinion slim looks much better without windshield. deluxe and heritage are more of that style. but its just my personal preference.
Oto Kakhidze ....oh yes. Deluxe with windshield. The rider will look right with a tuxedo on lol.
:D :D f. windshields :D
Is this a good beginners bike
Yes
Still has inner tubes and no dual front disk brake in 2018? I think I'll pass..
Robert Polkamp People keep complaining about lack of dual front disks. HD knew what they were doing cause it's definitely not needed. My 114 Fat Boy breaks on a dime just fine. No issues at all. I even tried to get the ABS to kick in and believe me, you need to hammer this thing. The 18's have Best breaking on any HD to date.
Ivan OK, brakes are good and fade free with a single front disk. NOW, this premium brand still uses inner tubes on spoked wheels right? Of course no premium brand would put on a center stand to fix said inner tube....
Bye felicia
Stop signs meh
2014 seat is shitty
Foot boards, foot boars, footboards stooooop with the foot boards for Christ sakes.
You mad bro! hahaha go somewhere else if you dont like it
Great bike, but once you committed 3 moving violations (ran all 3 stop signs) in the first 30 seconds of this video, I stopped watching your video.
I would suggest that if you want people to watch your videos, you learn how to ride safely and in accordance with ALL traffic laws.
Crybaby bitch
Thumbs down for making HD owners look bad. I lost count of the amount of stop signs and crossings you ignored and blew right through, not to mention your driving in that white pickup’s blindspot, twice. Drivers like you end up becoming statistics, so do yourself and everyone else on the road a favor and obey traffic laws and become a little more courteous to others around you. You’ll live a bit longer, trust me-I’ve probably been driving longer than you’ve been alive.
