When I see old Todd Snider, it really looks like an older version of young Todd Snider.
Todd himself sent me here, and I am so glad he did! We have heard this tune how many times, and it just does not get old.
Todd's version here is honest, tasteful, emotional and moving! Beautifully done my friend, as any one that digs the Stones like you do is family!
So glad this was recorded and shared with all of us, magnificent!!!
Thank you so much for the sweet comment. It makes me happy to see so many people enjoying this video. TSR :)
Todd - if you're out there, thank you. You're a treasure.
Be assured. He's out there, and he's "out there" you can rest easy
you know how, sometimes, when something just sounds so good when you read a description of it you are almost afraid to listen to it because, you know, it might not sound as good as the thing you thought of when you heard the description? this isn't one of those times.
exactly
It ain't exactly"DB Cooper" - oh well as long as he doesn't play it the next time he's in Louisville
Todd deserves an Epiphone signature model! An actual artiste!
The folk version just makes the song more haunting. Suddenly it's a Mississippi Delta, make-your-way-to-the-crossroads ballad that has you wanting to look over your shoulder just to make sure Ol' Scratch ain't there. Goddamn, Todd Snider, you took a classic and created something entirely unique and, in my opinion, a little more powerful.
Damn Son.Todd has a rare talent whether it’s his own songs or interpretations of others.☮️
"Wrote that.... today" .... LMFAO!!! Great rendition.
I wonder how many people got to keep a lil more of their sanity during this pandemic thanks to Todd playing on Sundays at the purple building live for free?
Todd's phrasing is fantastic. Great performance!
LOL wrote that! Todd's church brought me here today, watching his old vids. Todd rules this song!
Todd Snider managed to take a great song and make it even better!
Long time fan of the Stones and this song, but I gotta give it up to Todd Snider and his cover here. Truly excellent; insightful and seasoned. Bravo!
I'm a huge stones fan but I'm stuck on Todd's version,absolutely excellent
... And I like so much his anecdote about how Jerry Jeff Walker and him met AT 3 pm a busker playing "Mr Bojangles" in the middle of nowhere! I like that Guy!👍
Fuckin love this dude. Found him 2 yrs ago. Bluesman extrordanire
This should have more views.
5 fools gave this a "thumbs down", proving the point that there will always be a few who don't understand true talent.
First time hearing this and I feel like its taken to a different space in life ..... Im a massive stones fan and have heard many a cover but this is my new favorite.. I know of Tom Snider but finally I have arrived.
This is epic. Awesome.
beautiful!
Stellar
I love this version ! It is sounding so blues...
The most poignant version I've ever heard...on my what a jewel!!!! Thank you beautiful man!
incredible! thanks for sharing thanks 🙏 for sharing
Outstanding!
Beautiful Todd! ✌🏼🌻❤️
Amazing performance
Love this Todd
Great version.
My boy is spot on. Right song. Right voice…
He was ahead of us all, or was it the stones?
Man, this is good. This is really, really good.
Dude, you play like I draw... Freehand, and it works out great!!! What an amazing perspective of an already great song. Truly awesome 😎😎
If possible, please upload this to apple music, love the cover!
I am obsessed with your version of this tune. so good.👍
This is f-ing unreal. Such a crazy great cover. Wow.
Been a huge fan since I heard the Excitement Plan and have tried to learn many of his songs since. I've not yet been able to see Todd live, but it is high on my list of things to do. Watched many videos of his performances and stories (I love the stories!). It seems a good representation of his sense of humor that he says at the end of this "Wrote that. Today." Thank you for sharing this :)
You absolutely must see him live! Until you do, check out his live albums "Near Truths and Hotel Rooms" and "The Storyteller" for a great mix of songs and hilarious stories.
Brian Jones ♥️
love this
WONDERFUL AND AWESOME...😍😍😍
Thanks, Bret - this is just beautiful.
Love that intro! ..... and getting to see another bus video too.
This is my fav song too.
I think he's great!!!!!
Excellent.
Very cool.
Great version 👍👍👍
Wow very cool vocal.. N nice playing harmonica. Sounds great
❤❤
Damn, Todd...that's sweet man. Hope you are well in East Nasty.
Reminds me of early Eric Anderson, Donovan and bob Dylan in his delivery! Very nice!
Well done! You dylanized it
Some country folks have the iconic scratchy voice
My man from beaverton Oregon he's just representing a classic?
I was listening to this and totally thought to myself you could transition into "Sweet Child of Mine". I loved how the Dead would do that with Fire on The Mountain and Scarlet Begonias. I am no musician. However, I absolutely love music. Just wondering what y'all musicians out there might think???
Spot on - could go into Sweet Child absolutely
@@kevindrago2701 thank you for your input. Glad to know others can see the vision too lol ☺️🤗
Better than the original.
Todd is a force of nature!
✌💀👍🎸🎵🎶🇺🇸🧠🌌♾
I like this version because rather than its typical incendiary and malicious tone (a la the Stones), this version sounds here much more world weary and wise.
Cleverly packin a neckerchief
in case a pandemic
well, you know
Stupenda
I LOVE THE MUSICAL ARRANGEMENT
AS MISSISIPI BLUES
"Wrote that today - -" Love it, even though it's not true - - -!
As Real as it gets~!! All it needs is some "sipping whiskey"~!!
2nd best version of this song.
This is fucking insane!
Dude I love everything about the lyrics, I would love to talk with him about them.
It’s a Rolling Stones song, talk to Mick & Keith
@@JoshMorningstar I know, I think he understands em better than me though.
👁👍🏼
Is it possible for something to be too good?
Soon good
Loose...
Peace&Love&Rock'n'roll.
Wrote that 😄
Hey Renegade Rugby Bro!
The extra high version
😳
Any idea how his guitar is tuned?
The usual way: by rotating the tuning pegs until the strings are in tune
(sorry, I had to.) standard tuning. E, A, D, G, B, E.
That is damn good. I'm just trying to get my shit together..dude
The first todd snider video where there isn't a 2 minute introduction....
When doing a song like this acoustically, one should not play it in The Rolling Stones way. Congratulations for being creative. Whatever it’s your own way or a Bob Dylan style, it just sound worthy hearing.
Dare I say better than the original ?
Stones freak but dang
Hitting me right now better than the stones
infinitely better than the original, hell yea
it's as if the viewer in the devil's company
The more I like him the more I believe he's Iggy Pops son
All the way through this I was imagining the entire audience leaning forward in rapt attention, just like me. It was kind of a letdown, then, to see at the end there that his dog had dozed off.
The guy is not always on point with notes.
How does he do to sound THAT GOOD when missing the damn notes?
What kind of sorcery is this?
A whiff of Keith Richards
Cigarettes are bad, kids
Fuck's sake....
No.
Bobby Zimmerman a definite influence
I hope one day to be able to play like you man
