    thank you very much for this! I'm 33 and going to start a bachelor in data science, online, at the same time as I study to complete the equivalency to a high school diploma. So learning all alone and with a full time job, I really needed a "hands-on", real and true way that showed actually how to study, not only the theory and what you should and shouldn't. Thank you very much!

    Ahh, Guyton and Hall physiology! One helluva book I had to digest as a second year med school student here in Croatia. I still have the book nearby in a bookcase. I'm third year now and began mind mapping recently(heavily influenced by your methods), especially for the massive subject of pathology. I scored the first half-year exam quite well. It's a big but long term useful task to make mind maps with enough info with the balance of pictograms and words(I find making symbols/small drawings beneficial in increasing retention). Cheers from Croatia!

    • @TheQuark6789
      @TheQuark6789 Před 7 měsíci +3

      I'd suggest delving more into how & why the method you're using is supposed to work. For example with calculus, if you're trying to find the max/min of a quadratic function, you make an equation where the derivative = 0. Why? Because you know the shape of a parabola, and that only at the max/min does it flatten for an instant.
      Unfortunately, this kind of info is often skimmed over or not taught at all, but if you're at a university level then you can & should ask the professor at office hours.
      Plus, learning this context makes you a better problem-solver, instead of just a person carrying a manual of procedures, which I think is much more fulfilling.

    Really eye opening seeing it play out :o, I understood on a conceptual level what you teach in so many of your videos, but seeing it play out is a whole different thing altogether!
    Having said that, I do have questions, hope you can answer: 1) You do this for each and every Topic of a class? 2) Usually in your field, how many Topics, on average, does a class have? 3) How do you fit practice into this? if the topic requires practice like math, coding or art, or maybe you have to do a project using the learned material, do you do the practice after covering the whole topic in its entirety?

    Hello, first of all, thank you for the video! I have been using mindmap to study for the past few months. My question is, it seems like you make a list of key terms, make a draft map out of your list, and try to grasp a big picture BEFORE you actually read the study materials. Isn’t this only possible when you have a background knowledge of what you are about to study? How can you make a draft map without reading a study material when you have pretty much zero background knowledge of the topic you are studying? Is it even possible? This part is the most time consuming for me every time I do mindmap..😢

    • @sairian
      @sairian Před 5 měsíci +1

      the idea is that ur using what u know or what u think might work, hence the name "maybe mapping". The idea is to get it wrong, when you read more of the material and you understand more, a lot of the map will change. it'll feel more engaging, which is the point in studying. Like the feeling when you are "enlightened" haha.

    Question: alot of these techniques are taught in depth in the online course which I'm in. If you've already done scoping and maybe mapping (prestudy) can you just skip straight to evaluation?

    I'm not sure if it is placebo or not, but the sound in the video was different for me compared to those other CZcams 'white noise' sounds. I have ADHD, and I always struggled with focusing my attention. Like, after taking breaks, it's hard to convince my brain to get back to work because I am easily distracted. Well, at least this is going a bit better. By the way, does anyone know if there is anywhere I can download this sound for straight hours, or is it just edited? Thank you

    I know this is a method for learning content and i know the method, but im now more interested on developing ideas from this content after having learned it. How do you develop new ideas from what you learned? Do you use mindmaps? I'm wondering if is it possible doing it using mindmaps

    Hey Justin. I have got just one question. Did you complete the lectures and one reading before or you started just raw and tried figuring out things yourself.
