Hey Stephan
Love your work
Can you please advise on a CZcams site that does Sandvik and cat stuff
I have recently become a qualified diesel fitter in Australia
Just looking for more things in this field to learn
Thx mate
Good to see you back! This is classic Stephen Cox - great stuff!
Just a heads up, the hose and fittings in the FASS and Driven Diesel kits that are "cut to fit" are not "silicone", they are commonly called "Push Lok" and the hose material is generally rubber or nitrile or similar. Push Lok hose and fittings are typically rated for 250-300psi (see hose jacket) when properly installed, without a clamp. The hose has an internal braid that works like a chinese finger trap. The harder you try to pull it off the barb, the tighter the braid grips it...you have to cut the hose to get it off the barb. That said, using a clamp on them isn't a problem, provided you don't use one that can be overtightened and cause damage to the hose. This is why we supply the self tightening type clamps with our Driven Diesel products that use Push Lok hose, they add some "insurance" without damaging the hose itself.
Boy soo happy see you back! MORE PLEASE!
Glad to see you back
Sure do love your videos. I've got a 2000. 7.3 F350 Ford original owner. It's been garage all of its life and of course an Arizona truck all of its life. It's absolutely immaculate. It's had absolutely superb service done to it I think I'm going to drive this truck for the next 40 years. I absolutely love it I enjoy your videos. They help me immensely understand this TRUCK and things that need to be done, please continue doing what you're doing. Thanks for your help and insight.
Glad to see you back. I was worried that FRAM had hired a hit man ;)
Great to see a new video out. Hope things are peaceful in your life now.
I have a Garrett 38r. If KC turbo was around I would have bought a stage 2 from them. If anyone is looking to upgrade their turbo get a KC turbo instead of buying a Garrett 38r.
Love my kc stage 2
Hope you and the kids are doing well.
This truck looks very good. I agree, 6" lift is a bit much. I think 2" is plenty for having fun.
I've got 2" on the back and 2.5" on the front of my Excursion. It looks perfect.
That's not what she said
Steve - nice to see you back man!!! great video as always !! :)
All right one of my favorite mechanics. 💯
Always good to see you man, been a long time.
Man glad to see you back bud!!
Happy to see you post a video! I’m back to using Fram filters again
Good to see you back.
The steel water pump sounds robust. Good content! 👍
Looks like we have the same idea. Your client and I. Did the banjo bolts with an airdogg too. Had to install this system to gain control over the lack of control you have with the airdogg. Big difference. And now I have room for my upgraded Adrenaline hpop.
I'm doing the same regulated return on my 99 f350 now. Drivers side rear plug was extremely difficult but It came out. A good tip would be soak all plugs in wd40 for days before attempting removal.
Rattlin truck and tractor has universal filter kits for sub 300$
Great stuff. You put out great information
Good to see you back 👍
Good to see ya still kicking
Nice to see you back doing repair videos again! What’s going on with the tractor? Is it done or are you guys still sitting on it?
Loved the demonstration of how gravity works at your shop. Clang clang clang.
Welcome Back , hope we see more from you.
Thats an awesome setup, getting rid of all that crap in the valley is a huge plus also...
Hey! Welcome back homie!🤙
Good to see you, hope you are well 😎
He's back...awesome...It's been a while
Good to see another video my friend 👍
Good to get a video from you
Nice to see you back. Don't stay away from the channel so long..
We got Blue Balled on this one 😂
Thanks for the awesome video
I have a 2000 7.3 and want so those parts!!! I do have a ball bearing turbo so that’s nice.
I thought this was going to be the hyper max timing cover and 8cyl p pump. That fixes the fuel system very well. 😈
Hahahah just comment on TT that I was missing you on YT! Glad to see you….
I have a 2002 f350 7.3 it's ugly but keeps going and going.
I installed this years ago and cnc fab makes by far the best 4 line feed kit as long as you have airdog/fass your good . That kit has the hoses in the front head takes up to much space and lines are to tight. Cnc makes clean block kit. Also 300x from kc turbos is the best drop in depending on options. Always go with 10 blade with billet wheel for balance
I installed that same turbo in my 2000 7.3. With a 6sp manual going through the gears it sounds like a fire truck siren. LOL.
Good to see you, I have a friend that really needs to watch this, he has one and cannot get it to run.
How often have you seen the hpop fail? I have a 2002 7.3 with a crank no start issue. I’m pulling the valve covers tomorrow to check to see if I have oil leaks around the injectors. I’ve never replaced one before but I can count the number of 7.3s I’ve work on with one hand.
I was a little shocked Stephen Cox has risen from the CZcams dead.
KC Turbos is a better source for drop in turbos. Absolutely nothing wrong with that turbo, but KC has better options all around. And they come with the high flow outlet and a big waste gate controller already. I always wanted to try that controller though...
Van turbos don't have the EBP valve, and also have non EBP pedestals. You can buy new "delete" pedestals also, essentially new van ones. Some people do like to wire them up as a cheap exhaust brake though. BD may have a kit?
The stock 7.3 fuel system is by definition, a regulated return system. I do know what you are getting at, however, in practice it won't matter much to the rails or injectors. After initially filling the rails, it's fine. I actually run a 4-line feed from CNC Fab.
Looking down into that new turbo it may be just the angle but it looks like some of the fins are bent while the ones on the other side are straight. I am sure you saw this so it is either designed that way or you took care of it. I wish the turbo on my 96 was as easy to get off! I can't tell you how many 10mm 1/4" drive sockets I broke on that damn housing flange!!!!!!
I've been wondering, does the FASS system and other lift pump systems for that matter, replace the Motorcraft Frame Mounted Electric Fuel Pump Assembly?
For my 97 obs 7.3 would you go with fass or Marty’s for the e-fuel? I do like how Marty’s use the stock fuel fittings in the heads.
Good to see you back on YT! Off topic, but any suggestions for bleeding an old CAT diesel mechanical injector pump? It's driving me crazy right now.
Iv used a mighty vacuum hand pump on the end of the injector lines while cranking it. His some times.
Can't wait to build out my f450 zf6 to ~500hp for work. Semper Fi! Big project will go from 2X to 4X with a divorced transfer case
Can you do another video on the head you cut? Specifically intake passages and what to do if something is dropped into it
Question. Fuel Bowl Drain Lever O-Ring Seal Leak. I have the 2001 Ford 7.3 Powerstroke E450 Turbo Diesel. 24 Foot long El Dorado bus van type body converted to MH / RV. Hard to access and work on. Tight crammed jammed space. Hard to get hands and tools down in there. Not easy and open access. How long did it take to gain access to the fuel bowl? And to take off and replace o-ring seals and lever? Total time in and out for this job? Thanks. JR
i fixed one of these engines on a pastor's truck. he had a fuel problem and he hired a neighbor kid to fix it and the kid took the turbo and all the hoses off and left it on the ground, charged him 100 dollars, and left. i managed to put it back together and got it running sort of i told him to take it to a shop and have it fixed found out it was a regulator or something which they fixed and it worked great for a month then crapped out again took it back to the shop and they fixed it again he died a few months later. i never did get paid oh well i learned how to work on a diesel.
Any update on this? Any differences with the kit?
Hey your back!
I think dieselsite has the steel water pump that comes with the different power radiator hose.
My favorite injectors so far out of 5 different manufacturer's are from "DDP" (Dynomite diesel performance). They've lasted longer than the rest in my 02 7.3 and 2011 6.7 Cummins.
Wish there was a way to completely eliminate the HPOP on the 7.3. maybe a dry sump type of system or something. I've had so many issues with it so far. Especially when the truck sits for a couple months. Maybe it's the humidity here on the big island of Hawaii. I don't know. Dealing with a new no start with it now. Haven't figured it out yet..🤬
My pcm fuse "socket" under the steering wheel had a poor contact. I was able to apply pressure and crank the truck but wiggle my finger and shut off.
You can p pump it for about 8G
You can install a direct injection pump on the truck
I live here in maui and I try to start the truck on a minimum every few days at most. Moisture kills everything.
Try changing the low pressure mechanical oil pump behind the crank pulley.. they make suction and hold pressure from tight gear clearances. After they get worn out they leak down. Sounds like that’s the problem?
I've never heard that entrainment I looked it up it is Intentionally mixing air in something. In school they always called it aeration, to each there own but I would never wanted air leaks In the low pressure side of a diesel fuel system.
8:35 that sound haunts my dreams
Yeah, upgrading the electric fuel system helps a lot for getting air out. More fuel to the fuel rail & it just runs better.
Do you think I could use electric fuel pump on t444e the one that came in the international
Is there anything to plug off after you do the sump?
Cool Dale Brisby hat
I see you've gone to Milwaukee for your battery impact needs :)
Hello Mr. Cox. I just rebuilt my turbo and installed new down pipes etc. Got everything back together and truck will not start. Only electrical thing I did was to unplug the wiring harness on the driver side to the injectors. I checked the ICP with ohm meter and it seems to be working. The engine valley was cover with oil. Do you think maybe by jacking with the harness could had caused it to go bad. P 1280 code, P 0340 P 1281 etc. Any thoughts to my no start problem. Thanks.
I'm not sure why people say this about the air lock on these trucks. I have pulled injectors and lost all prime several times on other jobs and the system recovers very quickly. I wonder what the variable would be
Please link the topside creeper you use! 😁
I daily a 99 extended cab long bed with 8 1/2” of lift. Best part about it is my kids faces when I pull up and his friends faces when I pick him up from school.
I bought the traxxion 3-100 topside creeper, Think I paid $300 for it, and it goes high enough to get to any lifted pickup I've had to work on.
Word to the wise though if you get that one, keep your feet out from under it when you pull the height locking pins, if you're not holding it, or are holding the wrong part of it, it'll drop and slam into your foot. Ask me how I know.
Good to see you back!
I was afraid you went Chuckie on us.
Nah, I'm in the middle of a divorce so I haven't been uploading as much.
@@StephenCoxfixit I’m sorry to hear that. My wife died 8 years ago. There’s no fixing that. You have a chance for a good marriage to someone, but it takes more determination than good sense sometimes, and you both need to work at it every day. Every day you have to decide to be the best mechanic you can be, the best dad you can be, and the best partner you can be. It’s a choice, but it works. And you can make it look easy. I just know. I had two failed marriages before I learned how to do it right. Truth is, I had help.
Same here on the lifts. Just bought a 7.3 with a 4" lift and I'm going down to a 2". Anything more than 2" reduces its practicality.
I'm guessing you're talking about the body of the water pump and not the impeller?
Bro! You need to backup your memory cards Before deleting all the fun stuff I was wanting to see 🤣😂 I love my 2000 F-250 7.3 and plan on deleting that fuel bowl and mounting on the frame, out of the way and easy to drain and change filters! Really wanted to see the tank sump install! Do another truck and get that posted 😎
What do you do with the over boost code i keep having that issue i can put up my boost. I have a. Electronic boost fouler and nothing
Where is the guy you used to help and projects? He did a lot of good welding and used to cut hay. I forget the name of his channel. I remember he also used to have a bunch of older tractors that he was constantly working on.
Chuckie committed CZcams suicide a couple years ago by playing a manifesto and basically lost his channel. Stephen has said that Chuckie is okay. He did do some nice work and was too bad the way it happened but I think he was almost burning out.
I have a 1996 ford 7.3L Fx4 ext cab 8' bed F250 with 90k original miles still runs great Dad bought new also still have his 1987 F150 4x4 with 351w factory 4bbl carb but has a new long block truck he also bought new what should I do ????......do not need 3 Trucks as my work horse is a 1997 f150 for pulling boat to lake that I bought used and that's all I need really .
How much labor did you charge for the FASS fuel system and fuel bowl delete ?
You swapped a new engine?
Strange. Still working on the first engine, 22 years strong.
Roller bearing turbo should be nice for boost 😁
u r alive have missed your videos Stephen can you do a live with chuckie duckie please
I've got a 2000 Excursion. One and only owner. Got one of the first Diesels off the line....
I've got 175,000 on it. Never had any problems with it. Except the leak into the fuse box computer.... by the time my went there were none to be found for less than a grand. Now there are some out there for a few hundred bucks. I took mine out, took it COMPLETELY apart.
Cleaned and repaired the cooper traces and put it all back together again.
It works great. Plus I found a wrecked excursion with all the same options as mine and bought it for 50 bucks.
I've got a little cash to throw at it what do you recommend I do first?
Kc turbos offers a great turbo options and irate as well as Carson Shaffer diesel sells a t4 turbo kit for around 2500-3000 for a street truck setup
Diesel site sells coolant hoses that hook right up as well
How's everyone including chucky, have missed all of ya'lls comments and video's.
I,m and espectativ and you video so good is cool 😎 my friend bless you America 🇺🇸 from NJ
Stephen I'm at 325k mi and am wanting head job with new injectors. What other improvements, would you recommend.? I am 65 and still working. So hot rod is not as important as power and economy. I have a banks chip now. All stock.
Have you checked out the cnc fab 4 line stainless fuel system for the 7.3. I was debating this one or cnc went with cnc fab liked the hard line better than the soft line. Both seam way better than stock if you plan on beefing up the injectors the one and eight need love. Looks like you already been in that turbo and swapped out the turbo pedistal Nice vid. 👍👍.
Cnc fab had agreed to send me one last year but they never bothered to answer any emails after they said they were going to.
What is your thoughts on the garret turbo
@StephenCoxfixit,,, Hello I have a question for you can I used a 1999 Ford F-350 V10 Manual Allison transmission on my 2008 Ford F-350 supers duty 6.4 turbo diesel??? I will really appreciate if I can have any help figuring out…. Thank you and advance
what brand and/or kind and size are those wheels in this video?
I would love to have a manual transmission behind my 7.3 but hard to source. Any recommendations for upgrading the 4r100 for towing?
BTS transmission or wood
Sam wise
Fuel bowl delete made a big difference on my 7.3
Is the delete pretty expensive? Would there be a basic kit I can purchase
@@rigoffear about how much did it run you if you dont mind me asking? Including filtration
What is the point of a roller bearing turbo. When running, a standard turbo is running on an oil film bearing .
Hey man I have a 2002 Ford F250 7.3 Diesel Automatic. It's running rough. Blue and white smoke. All new sensors. New hpop and lines. New injectors and glow plugs. Can't figure it out. Has to be something simple?? Please help??
Great vedeo mate 👍 👌 i buying a 2diferent iCP sensor for my 7.3 excursión but it's not fit 😕😏 the older has a thin thread!! the new sensors have a thick thread!!! anyone can tell me why the new sensors not are the same? 😕😏 I buying a 2 sensors on different shops and both are exactly the same not a thin thread!!!! So the block thread is thin!! and I don't find a damm iCP sensor for this caind of engine 😤 anyone knows where I can buying a correct iCP sensor? Thanks fellas I appreciate your help 🙏 cheers from Norway 🇳🇴 👋
Was the turbo an improvement?
Thank you, doing that with my early 99 7.3. I just have to save $ 10,000.00 and then find someone to install.
How many miles did the original engine have on it?
I’m assuming that driven diesel is not the same power driven diesel that’s in Utah? AnyWho great video good to see you Stephen👍🇺🇸
Correct. "Driven Diesel" is a performance brand by "Strictly Diesel" out of Phoenix, AZ. "Power Driven Diesel" is an entirely different company that specializes in different products.
@@dennisschroeder3044 thanks man👍🇺🇸
