Fabulous! The clearest way to make a distinction is to just do so. Keep your "job" so that you don't worry about money. And then just START your business, exactly a you want it. The key will be to talk about bout what you do AS "what you do" and when people say "do you do X" you simply reply "no - what I do is Y". Just start telling people. There is SUCH a need for compassionate services for aging adults.

Hi, I also work in healthcare and have been conflicted on whether I should start a homecare/companion company or a senior concierge business. Im at the place now that a concierge business may be a better fit for me. I noticed you stated that you didnt want to do the medication, bathing, and other personal care tasks. Question: is that even an option in a concierge business? My delema has been I wouldnr mind assisting in those tasks yet I thought you could only assist in personal care if you have a non medical homehealth business. Im in Florida. Also, Id like to hire employees? Can I do that?
you can do anything you want to - as long as you following your true inner desire and not following what you "think you should" do
You can ask yourself some simple questions to get to the bottom of what you truly want.

"Is there really a difference" is more apparent in your marketing. If I were to tell you I offer "non medical home-care" ( what is the first thing you think of? ) The way you position yourself, your business, your services will directly impact the type of work you do, how you charge and the impression you will give.

Wouldn’t having a non medical business require licensing? In California a state license is required to provide these type of services. I’m wondering if using “concierge” in the business entity eliminates that? Regardless, I’m looking into this for my area but don’t want to run into problems.
CA can be tricky so definitely ask some questions. But I have many students who are in CA and aren't required to have a "license" based on the services they're offering. I would have a conversation with a local insurance broker or small business attorney to ask some of the more nitty gritty specifics about "services".

Lets say you offer “cooking and organizing” when you grow and have to hire employees, but they cant cook and are bad at organizing, what do you do then?

What are the services you are considering offering? What would that business model look like? How would your business make money? I would start there.
