    Sorry I said Mid-drive, yeah I was thinking mid drive because the new bike I just purchased is my first mid drive and it showed up today while making this video. Its been a few hours since posting this video and I am already seeing a trend. No one is excited about this accept the ones that made all the "infomercials". Thinking with a clearer head, I will probably pass on this one.

    I think it is pretty cool that they are able to include the pinion smart shift system into a bike that is $2k. I think I have only seen pinion on Stromer bikes which are like $10k+. I like how Lectric is reaching more audiences and I am sure we will see some upgrades to their existing models at some point

    I just received my bike. It’s definitely worth the money. What I like is that it’s smooth, quick, light , easy to manoeuvre , shifts so smoothly and it’s a real pleasure to drive. And no, I’m not paid to write this.

    According to one of the early testers, it has no ghost pedaling up to 28 mph that is one positive, the pinion gearing is why it costs so much. Belt drive is good for muddy conditions and it requires no maintenance.

    • @Joerides7
      @Joerides7 Před 4 měsíci

      Very little maintenance. The belt would have to be adjusted occasionally, and cleaned with water if it gets muddy. The Pinion gearbox needs an oil change every 6,000 miles or so.

    Really appreciate the honest review! I can't get past the lack of a front suspension, so I'll pass for now. The next iteration will probably include it due to popular demand anyway.

  • @vfr1vfr2
    @vfr1vfr2 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Front suspension add at least 2-3 lb. to the bike.
    This ebike is designed for commuters that have limited storage space & need to carry the bike into the house (maybe with stairs), lightweight is more of a priority than comfort over bumps.
    Majority of city commuters don't ride more than 10 miles in one direction, plenty of battery range with the small battery.
    Smaller battery, less weight.
    Smaller wheels/tires are for lightweight, less rotational mass, less battery consumption.
    The Pinion gearbox eliminate the need for geared drivetrain that require maintenance, auto-shifting means you don't have to shift down when you come to a stop at traffic lights, which is quite frequent for city commuters.
    There are not other ebike options on the market at $2K that offer Pinion gearbox & belt drive combination, not even at $3K.
    I'd say LEctric One is a very good, if not exceptional value at $2K.
    Just because Lectric is not sending you sample bikes to test and review, doesn't mean your critics on their products are legit for the designated purpose of their different bike models.
    Be subjective on your reviews, make your review about specific purpose of each designated models.
    Some models are designed for long range, some are not.
    Some models are designed for comfort, some are not.
    Some models are designed for lightweight, some are not.

    I don’t think the price is bad for all it offers.
    It needs a front suspension. In fact all bikes/trikes should have the front suspension. If it weren’t for that I’d advise to get.
    I just saw the review of the bike and after seeing the review I would buy. Looks like fun.

    I am also ordering the cane creek headset for my xpeak step thru. I have eliminated the wobble at the expense of removing the baskets. I really want to get at least one basket back. As for the lectric one the bike is out of my budget and it definitely needs a bigger battery.

  • @justinwhite2951
    @justinwhite2951 Před 4 měsíci +1

    I pedal alot..both ebikes and analog bikes...I have never once wished something shifted for me. It's not the "need" part of the bike. The "need" parts are a bigger motor, battery, and in Lectric's case, no wobble.

    • @paulbouldin6677
      @paulbouldin6677 Před 4 měsíci

      I too have noticed wobble in alot of other step thru brands! However, "Gary's Adventures" has solved that problem with the XPeak( installing a new headset dampener). Fix the batteries from catching on fire. Make the batteries last longer(increase mileage), and a more torque from the motors.

    That's not a mid-drive, it's a gearbox that replaces the cassette and derailleur. That Pinion gearbox is a very high end component that will be close to an automatic transmission.

  • @Joerides7

    I'm definitely part of a different group they are targeting with this bike. These are MY thoughts: The cost is still in the affordable category, most of my bikes cost a lot more than that. I like the smaller tires(IMO, fat tires are just not needed for pavement riding). I prefer the rigid fork, I have no use for a cheap/heavy suspension fork that would normally be on a bike like this. I'm very interested in trying a Pinion gearbox, but the auto-shifting doesn't interest me. The batteries are too small, I hope they offer a bigger battery option. Hopefully, the pedals aren't too close to the ground, I didn't see pedal strike mentioned in any of the review videos I've seen so far. The wet weather capability would be a huge plus for me. I ride in all weather, but currently only ride my non-electric bikes when it's raining. I'd like an e-bike to ride in the rain.

      Very thing i mentioned . It has been mentioned in most all reviews . What good does having a fancy shifter if you cannot even complete a ride and make it back home . $2000 e-bike should never have a 48v 10ah battery pack . And i happen to know how much those cells cost in there battery packs . Extremely small price . All there e-bikes are rated for 28mph but it is tough to actually get there let alone trying to maintain that speed . Every review shows the brakes squeaking loud . Low end materials . After quite a few mentioned the tiny range shown for pas4-5 the site took that spec down . Now i do own and like there lectric 3.0 . Sure , it’s generally low end parts as you will get for that price but it runs well and Lectric customer service has show to be great . You cannot keep increasing the power and keep with the same tiny battery packs . I will see if i can test ride one if anyone in my area end up buying one , but doubt that will change anything . 3 things could change my mind… 1-better non squeaking brakes 2-14ah pack for $2000 and 20ah for $2000 3-easy to get to (and) maintain 28mph.
      One example is magicycle . Right now you can get 2 battery packs included …. 750 watt 95nm torque … each battery pack is 52v 20ah … just under $2000 … not endorsing , just one of many examples out there in the $2000 price range .

      @@jimjr9143 Yes. I think if you had a short ride to work of maybe 5 miles or just wanted to cruise this bike around for 15 miles or so then I think it makes sense. I did notice they have an upgraded 19ah battery, so that is something. Now if Lectric found out how to make a big 40ah on this bike, UL certified...that's a bike I am buying.

  • @kennethkilpatrick3758
    @kennethkilpatrick3758 Před 4 měsíci

    After the initial surprise that Lectric created a bike with some high end components I decided to stick with getting a trike. Don't need the gearbox because I'll be throttling all the time anyways. The belt would be nice but I won't be wearing my chain out peddling and shifting. There was a wow factor because I've looked at a lot of reviews and have never seen that gearbox on a $2000 bike. Usually much more expensive bikes. If Lectric forces better quality on other ebikes at a lower price point to compete I think that's great for everyone.

    Think I would hold off I watch all the other CZcamsrs most of them said they kinda didn’t like the auto shifting going to take some time to get used to it and they said you can upgrade to a different fork. They didn’t say how much and also the petals hit the kickstand when the kickstand is down. It is a working brake light one. CZcamsr said he didn’t like the front light. But it’s more of an app usage bike to get it dialed in the way you want it to me it looks kind of confusing to learn how to use it

    Long time ebike rider with 10000+ miles on many different bikes. This is a 1st generation production of this type of bike from Lectric, which means Gen 2 will be better. Yes, it needs a suspension....dual is a must have. Battery size is an issue as well, but the point Lectric is making is the pinion system that provides the smoothest acceleration and auto shifting. Comps for this technology is $4k+ on any other bike like this. No doubt this is a great great deal. Any person that doesn't see this as a great value is the type of person that complains that the stereo in there Ferrari is not loud enough....You are missing the point completely.

    @chow-chihuang4903 Před 4 měsíci

    UL compliant isn’t UL certified. Compliant is the current status of this bike in regards to UL 2849.
    Here are terms typically used:
    “Tested” implies it was tested and (likely) failed some test in the standard. It is useless.
    “Compliant” means the brand tested it themselves to see if it would pass the tests in the standard. This is typically done before sending samples to UL or a third party testing lab permitted by UL to test and issue certification to their standards (usually SGS or TUV). You’d want to do that too, to avoid wasting money and time with product that wouldn’t pass and obtain certification. However, it’s not certified and won’t pass muster with municipalities or residences that require UL certification.
    “Certified” means UL or one of their trusted third party labs tested samples, they all passed all tests. It also means random testing now and then. This is what you want if your municipality or residence or insurance company requires it. The brand should provide you with a copy of their certificate when asked. They should provide at least a file or reference number, and that information should be printed on the UL label on the bike or battery.
    Most don’t make this information easy to find on their product pages. Blaupunkt is the only one I’ve looked at that had their UL certificate easily found on their ebike pages and downloadable, if you want to see what one looks like.
    Despite finding Denago, Velotric, Fucare, Himiway, Radio Flyer, RadPower in UL’s ProspectoriQ database, I’ve not been able to locate their UL certification information on their web sites. Maybe they’re working through old inventory that isn’t certified.

    I could go either way on a belt. A belt is cleaner as you don’t lubricate it. It is a benefit for a commuter to avoid getting dirty grease on your pants. But a full chainguard would do the same thing. A shame most commuter bikes these days don’t come with one. A chain may snap but I could always remove the broken section and reconnect the chain and be back on my way. And good chains are relatively inexpensive and are 100% recyclable when worn out. A belt isn’t.

  • @EBikeBuilder_
    @EBikeBuilder_ Před 4 měsíci

    It seems like they decided they wanted a Pinion Gear Box with the Belt Drive at 2K price point, then figured out the rest of the stuff backwards from there. But i imagine they will have the suspension fork, bigger battery, as upgrades, and they want to advertise it “starting at 1999”. I think in reality you will need to put another $500 into this bike for a suspension fork and seatpost, to be able to ride it comfortably, and then another 600$ into it for a proper 🔋. They have nice fancy components on it, but dang it looked like a rough ride!! I thought Jeremiah was going to crash 💥 riding over potholes one handed swinging a round a 10 foot gopro pole.

    You are correct the battery is way to small. Are they kidding 2k for a 10ah battery. You can get bikes now with 60ah batteries that cost much less than this. The front light is very small. It's only a be seen light. Not something you can drive around at night that will light up your path. Many ebikes now come with much larger headlights that solve this problem. Lectric is taking a step backwards here when they had a chance to correct this in a new model. Many new ebikes have much more powerful motors that cost less than this & give you better performance. This bike has NO SUSPENSION. This is a serious omission & hurts the performance of this bike.The belt drive & pinion shifting are nice but not at this cost. Suggest they go back to the drawing board.
