There’s 3 cars sitting on a drive in Suffolk on a council estate, think someone should contact the owner and see what they wish to do, if they wanna sell, they’ve been there my entire life 30yrs.
Gone have the 1/2 naked women, presenter with a 6 pack and fake recovery of a £100000 car. Just a rough arse old school mechanic, rescuing a rough arse old school motor… your my new hero, keep up the good work 👍🏻
I’ve still got an 87 City X that’s been standing a few years and with a new battery and a bit of choke, it fired straight up. All BL AR cars were underrated, the fact that this little A series started after 26 years speaks volumes 😍😍. Great work!
they need spraying with oil underneath (can't do any harm). 👍
I learnt to drive in one to these, blast from the past👍
So did I, BSM Cambridge, clutch was a bit vicious I remember 🤔
My first car was a gold metro. Wee rust bucket but mechanically great. Good memories brought back watching this little car come back to life .
The unmistakable sound of the gearbox in 1st just reminds me of the light blue metro my nanna had when I was a young child 😊 so nice to hear it again, hopefully I'll be in a position to buy one soon, thanks for the video
Hi. I’m a huge fan of Hoovies, Hubnut and Harry’s Garage. I have to say after viewing your video your content is just AWESOME. The music makes it a happy occasion as well, reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland. I take my hat of to you sir. Keep up the great work….
Me dad had one of them in 1994, it had a dint in the front left wing, so I went the scrapyard to get a replacement. When I got home I put the new one on, but it just wouldn’t fit, so I kicked it to get it to fit, and low behold I bloody dinted it 😂😂😂😂
It's great to see an actual barn-find rather than the ones that so often claim to be these days.Amazing (and tempting as well.) Very satisfying to see the transformation after you washed it!
So glad to see people save these classics not enough of them on the road these days
I know. I remember when I was a little kid those Metros were everywhere. I even remember on numerous occasions in the 90’s and 00’s I’d see a Metro completely dwarfed by the larger Maestro.
It’ll look nice that with a clean and some new 🛞s
Looking good underneath, even the stickers are still intact on the exhaust.
Sixpenny Handley’s answer to Vice Grip Garage - love it! More “will it run” videos please 🙏
Nightfisher blue was the best colour. With a bit of work she’d be a beauty
Fantastic video so nice to see a metro on the road again I'm just watching it on ebay I can't believe what it's upto now 😀
I had 4 metros along with other cars at varying times. 3 were mgs 1 a 1.0l. I can honestly say, I have never had a car that was more fun to drive. More like a toy really. Passed my test in my own MG great memories of a fun to drive car.
Satisfaction at its finest. Great video! I envy any man who comes across a genuine barn find these days. No matter what the car, it's brilliant to see them restored and back on the road.
My first car was a Metro, back in '92... As a younger chap at the time, I converted her (basic 1 litre spec) to full MG interior and MG turbo bodykit and alloys... Loved that wee car, and so easy to work on...
Same here but 93. It was olive green and a W reg 1 litre. I think I had my pants pulled down over the asking price (500quid)? But I was 17 and still wet behind the ears and had no idea about haggling etc. Went all over the UK in it following Leeds United.
big up the Metro ! - a great little car 🙂
Really impressed how you’ve rescued this old girl.
Love it!. Dear old Mum had one of those, same colour. Had my first 'unofficial' driving lesson in it. 🤣
What a wonderful job you did to bring this little car from such a long coma. Well done mate.
This Metro cleaned up really well, it certainly has potential for restoration 😊.
Great job, the Metro looks in pretty decent fettle all told. Hope it finds a new owner
Underneath the car looks remarkably good with a little bit of time and effort this is going to be a fantastic little survivor metro so pleased to see cars like this being brought back to life
My neighbour had a white one in the very early 90s - I’d wash it as a kid every Sunday for a quid!
I love Metros. I've had 5 of the buggers and I'd love to have this one!
I love a Metro. Had two in my time. A white 1.1 and a black MG Metro. Great little cars.
The test drive brought back the soundtrack of 3-4 years of my much younger life when I had 3 company car Metros. I'm sure this rescued Metro could be lovely with some TLC.
Good old string in windscreen, the uk streets were full of these cars back in the day
Your views are up massively due to this metro 😂👍🏼
Its a cute little car wow absolutely amazing it runs and drives after all those years you ate amazing 👍
Great work hiding the reg on the recovery truck......😂
Extremely Entertaining 👍😊
This looks amazing, I have briefly driven a 1988 1 litre city, slightly bouncy ride but was a fun little car. Sweet runner and so lovely to see. Hope she goes to a good home and gets restored.
well done on the auction going above a grand at the time of writing this.
I saw a nice condition rover metro, 20,000 miles on the clock being sold on auto trader for £1000 and I was sorely tempted to buy it.
she still running strong
Everybody loves a barnfind it’s nice wee project for someone 👍 👍 you need to find another now. Brilliant content 👍
The fact the rear light bulbs are still working is astonishing.
I had an MG Turdbo in that colour had red seatbelts and the same browny dash!! Was good for flying around the lanes of Dorset
We had one in that gorgeous night fire red, went from wife’s to daughter’s as you do! Ran like a dream but wheel arches rusted into oblivion! Happy days!…..
Great video. Great to see it saved.
I find this videos so therapeutic 👍🙌
I see it sold! Fantastic, well done. 👍
I got the wife a silver one in 1996 was a wee auto great little car never gave us a days trouble hopefully someone put it back together
The sound from that sweet little A+ has made my mind up, Metro it is. The search commences...
Owned a turbo in these…. What a blast…… and bought a 1300 sport for wife to learn to drive in
Fun motors, no airs or graces😎💪🏼….. only 5000 on yours😳….. tough little engines👏
Great find.
It's incredible how this is able to drive after so long.
Had a couple of these back in the day. They were cracking reliable little cars.
Best videos I've seen in a while. Learnt to drive in a metro and had an mg metro and turbo metro. Great cars for the time even though I was always a mini man.
Nice one, very fond as these as my first car was a Metro. Very satisfying seeing all the crud fly off! Am watching the auction! 🙂
It is always therapeutic washing a car. Loving this video series. I Worked at Kennings - Austin Rover, MG, Jaguar, Triumph etc - from 1983 to 1990. Happy days. If memory serves correct that particular year suffers 3rd motion shaft bearing failure. I know a quick way to replace them.
I normally wash my own car but the 2 times I’ve paid £20 for a mini valet it’s rained after it being done 😂😂😂never fails
Same here it's a bugger👍👍
Was that the one in town or was it the sheffield road one?
We used to rivet in a 1.8 pound fishing weight with 2x 8.7MM Nyloc Nuts on 2x Grey Fibre Washers. That put less strain on number 3.
So happy to see it drive, I laughed so much I have jaw ache. Brilliant! Loved the jet washing of the inside of the car, fantastic. Car looks fantastic and in good shape for its age and storage wear and tear etc. In the old days, I’d do a quick cowboy job on it, rebuild it with P38, quick rattle can job from Halfords and whack it in the exchange and mart 😂 1 careful lady driver……🤣😂🤣
Yes u did a wash video! Takes me back to the 90s seeing the metro!
What a great find. I can't believe it drove out of its resting place just like that
It's because it's all fake
Geez, that runs really sweet - high potential, there.
Love it. Favourite car you have done!
Back in the old days you’d often see a metro abandoned with its arse on the deck where someone dumped it because its dragging its bum like a dog trying to walk and poo at the same time
We had a metro in 1983, in my view it was a much under appreciated car.
GREAT little car👌
Brilliant video, well saved, i had a little 1l metro then got a metro gt loved it.
Wow fairplay that metro engine sounded and drove very well considering it's been static most of its life cool channel mate thanks for your time uploading 👌😉
That wee car wants to go off to the supermarket.
i had one of these in 1984...whilst everyone around got stuck in the snow these would just get you anywhere you wanted.....them engines went for ever.....but the bodies just couldnt keep up
Another brilliant video 👍👍
I love metro's they look like a match box that's been attacked with a kitchen knife
looks so much better after a bath 🛁🧼🫧
Fantastic, amazing really it is!!! This little car obviously is very happy it's been giving a really secound life. Hopefully there's to be found a enthousiast who service it for a new MOT. just to make her shiny again afterwards.
Well done and I hope it goes for a good amount for you and your friend. Look forward to seeing the Viva :-)
Another thoroughly enjoying video 👍👍
How beautiful. One day I hope to own a rover 200 series - here’s hoping!
It looks fantastic.
20 years ago, couldn't have given a toss about stuff like Metros, but now there is so few of them, its nice to see it saved.
I bought a sd1 last year and couldn’t believe the interest In it
Either the modern generation appreciates the bygone’s British gems for simplicity and style or they were due to rise in value anyway
Made a right pile on the Sd1 like cha cha ching
@@chiefrocka8604 love the SD1's, consider it the last real Rover before it went downhill. Sure they have problems, but got such classic shape and lines to them.
I had my second MG Metro for 6 yrs, alongside my XR2 till a dozy woman driver who was clueless as to how a roundabout works drove straight into the side of me. About 4 yrs into the metro experiance, a friend pointed out that the steering wheel was out of line with the seat on metros. Did not notice before but the steering wheel is slightly to the left of the seat. Not in line lol. This bugged me for ages.
Cracking stuff. Nice recovery. One Metro that wanted to live! 👍
Interesting basic Bedford CF at the other yard too!
Lot of Bedford cf,s and tk’s 👍
Yay, this made my new year's day.
Always a pleasure 👍
Been waiting for this upload the short was a teas 👍hopefully it's moved in this as well
I am amazed! I have been toying with the idea of an old car to fix up, take to shows etc. My budget is quite tight but trying to put a bit away to top the fund up, I really wanted an MG Montego but the price of them is batty and hard to find a good one. I have decided it is going to be a Metro, always wanted one but never owned one. So I searched Metro and here I am. I am blown away by how good the car looks at 22:14, I think with a new headlight and set of tyres, a good service etc this could be a usable project! I can't see it needing a lot for an MOT
It’s back for sale again at current have a look on eBay 👍
@@6DDIESELSDorset thanks I will have a look
@@6DDIESELSDorset Well there goes any hope I had of getting it cheap!
what a mint car !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Id love a drive in that 🙂
Voice is hilarious 😂
Love the vlogs and the honesty of them …happy new year
LOL first car i had when i passed my test in 2007 was a 1.1 litre Metro cost £300 with a manual choke ,it was hilarious fun would do 100mph too and really good on petrol , sadly one day i broke down on a dual carriage way and the Police came towed it away to their Manston recovery yard then wanted £350 to release it lol so i told them keep it , the thing i don't like is even though i pulled it safely off the carriageway onto a grass verge the police still had it towed saying it would be dangerous to leave it there ? Police pension fund in short supply more like it lol
Love it 😁👌
Amazing mate
Brilliant!
man it's been awhile since i have seen an old metro. I remember when they used to everywhere,
Great stuff. 🙏. Tidied up that would make a great runabout for someone. 👍
Another gem
fun video very good
It’s developed a lovely patina over the years.
Great effort mate
That whining gearbox takes me back, lol.
Learned to drive and took my test in one of these.
another great vid mate. Glad to see your channel growing, keep it up
So few left, that definitely needs restoring and preserving.
According to DVLA. That Metro has never even had a MOT. I hope someone restores it.
My first car on the road was an 87 1litre city. Bloody gutless but hilarious
The interior actually looks gorgeous for its age. I’ve seen much worse in cars a darn sight newer.
Great update little metro is coming along nicely thanks for the video looking forward to seeing the next steps 👍
My first car was a B-reg MG Metro. Black with red seatbelts. I'd like to say I loved it, but I really didn't!
Remember the engine whine of the metro.
