    From Mozart's unusually sombre D Minor Fantasy to Beethoven's transcendental final piano sonata: in this 2017 programme, Grigory Sokolov puts his unique skills to the service of late 18th- and early 19th-century Viennese classics - until the riches of his encores section, which include music from the French Baroque and Impressionist periods as well as German Romanticism. Sokolov's velvety touch, his apparently endless technical resources and his ability to immerse himself almost meditatively in the music help make this another recital to remember.

    Incredible embellishments of this piece!
    I played it as a 10 years old kid, it is not the difficulty but the art - Maestro Solokov is expressing here sublime chiaroscuri in the progressions that I never heard before...

      Absolument remarquable ! C'est clairement Mozart lui-même sans déformation , Mozart dans le texte et dans l'esprit . Bravo , Maestro !

    I love this man’s playing. Music above all ego.
    The thing is that as music evolved from Bach to Mozart to Beethoven to Brahms to Liszt the performer’s licence grows respectively, it’s pretty interesting.

    Sokolov is very good but I dislike the way he delays every cadence almost every single time. Why do artists do that? Conductors, singers, fiddle players, quartet players,.... 1:29 and so many other places.....

  • @albin8053
    @albin8053 Před rokem +1

    Wonderful. But, it's more of a Chopin style than a Mozart.

    • @pautabrasileira
      @pautabrasileira Před rokem +12

      Wonderful, indeed! But, If we listen to the available performances of Chopin and Mozart by Sokolov with enough attention and interiority, we will notice all the different details that Sokolov reveals of the two composers, such as articulation, tempo, use of pedalling, etc. In addition to these technical characteristics, his Mozart is more naive, with an overall freshness, and his Chopin is more poetic and full of nuances.

      Agree, thanks for your comment. But, I think his interpretation of Mozart is excessive.

  • @papagen00
    @papagen00 Před rokem

    People can't be content with 'facile' they always have to make it more complicated than it is.
    This interpretation is disgraceful.
    Just remember - simplicity is the soul of wit.
