  • @tonygiordano939
    @tonygiordano939 Před 7 lety

    Great Install, thank you for sharing. I have a couple questions.. On my Metra wiring harness there is an unused solid orange (illumination) wire and on the Pioneer harness there is an unused orange/white (to lighting switch terminal) wire. Are these two wires suppose to be connected together? And on the ASCW-1 when you grounded pin 18 from the factory harness, where did you ground it to? Also why did you tie the blue power antenna to the red wires? Is this still correct? Ty for your help

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 7 lety

      Does the metra harness also have a orange / white wire, if so that is what you would connect your pioneer harness to. The solid orange wire is illumination and would really only be used if the metra harness didn't have a orange and white wire. Now, if the metra does have an orange and white wire, just cap off the solid orange, it is not needed.
      Next i grounded the aswc-1 to the ground wire of the radio (black wire).
      Finally, the blue power antenna wire i tied into the red wire so that the antenna (if it requires) power while the car is in the on position. The factory radio supplied the antenna power but typically aftermarket radios do not support the solid blue wire. Just tie it into the red wire, that will suffice.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 7 lety

    @tonygiordano939 Před 7 lety

    Ty for your quick reply. No the Metra harness only has one solid orange wire and the ASWC-1 only has a orange/white wire. Should I connect them together? I'm sorry I'm not talking about the black ground wire I meant to say the the green and orange wire that you grounded on the factory harness, where did you ground that to and what is that a ground for? Thanks again.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 7 lety

      Yep, then you are fine to connect them together. As for the factory harness wiring, in order for the steering wheel volume controls to work, they needed to also be grounded, so the green / orange wire in the harness needs to be connected to a ground. In the video, i used T-taps to bridge that green / orange wire to connect it to the black wire (ground) in the harness.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 7 lety

      Not all, and also depends on the steering wheel control adapter. It ensure that your radio is compatible with the one used in this video, visit Metra's website and do their compatibility check for the ASWC-1 to make sure your radio is compatible. Usually Sony, Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, JVC radios are guaranteed to work.

    I just installed an AVH-280BT into a similar F-150, using the Metra 95-5812 as you did in this video. I was not able to fit the double din kit flush over the AVH-280BT's "face". I could only get the top and sides flush with the Metra kit, but the cutout was too small to get the bottom of the receiver in flush at the same time. Did you have this same issue? Did you have to mod anything besides cutting off the two big plastic tabs? At 11:30 it looks like the bottom of the double din kit is bulging like mine, but I can't be sure from the angle. Thanks in advance.

  • @Davesworld7
    @Davesworld7 Před 5 lety +1

    The Metra Harness is very anemic for the 2007 Mark LT, it is missing the steering wheel control at pin 18 and 19 (19 is the return and Axxess has you ground that one), it is missing the VSS at pin 14 and certainly the reverse at pin 6. I had to add pins to complete it on a 2007 Mark LT. This leaves only the parking brake which can be tapped into at the A connector of the Instrument Cluster (left upper) at pin 24 of C220A and if wanted the CAN bus positive is pin 31 and negative is pin 32, all in the left connector which is C220A. It's about 1.5 feet from the radio. The shroud around the instrument panel is easy to get out, only 2 nuts, the rest snaps. I'm trying to rattle iData's cage about hooking to the CAN bus since my X208U has the ability to show all information on the CAN bus from most sensors if Idata would make something that only does CAN bus and the steering wheel controls to use one box. The 2008 Mark LT has pin 20 of the main connector to the radio populated for Parking AID mute which would mute the stereo when you back up close to something.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 7 lety

      You will have to use the 3.5'' to the Brown and Brown/ white wire adapter and connect them to the Steering wheel control wires which are not in the main harness, but extend directly out the back of the radio. You will then follow the programming instructions to pair the ASWC-1 to the truck, but you may need to go into the Sound Stream unit afterwards and program each button specifically. 06 F350. At the 7:20 mark you were talking about grounding the green and orange wire. Do you need to add another piece of wire and ground to chassis or is this a ground wire from the harness?
    Also, is the black and pink wire in the left fuse panel?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 7 lety

      The green and orange wire just needs to be grounded. That can be done by either attaching it to the chassis or into the factory harness ground. It is required in order for the aftermarket steering wheel controls to work.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 7 lety

    I'm a rookie, so help me out with how you got the floor carpet lifted up to get to that grommet - for the wire to hook up the backup camera. Can you shoot a quick vid or something on how you got the carpet lifted AND how you hooked up the backup camera wire to the electric box down by the parking break.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 8 lety

      Remove the side panels that run along the floor which gives you access to the edge of the carpet. Pull the carpet up and you will see the grommet on the floor. It was a customer vehicle, so the vehicle is no longer available. There is no electric box, I just tapped into the black / pink or black / violet wire in the driver's side kick panel for the reverse signal for the radio.

    Great video! I'm gong to do this same process on my 2006 Lincoln Mark LT. For the ASWC-1 connections you mentioned the white/green went to the red/blue in the main harness. You then mentioned that the green/orange in the main harness must be grounded. Assuming you just tied that into the same ground/black wire butt connector with the rest of the ground wires you showed? In my case the previous owner had an aftermarket but they didn't bother with ASWC-1 so they lost steering wheel control. I'd like to get that back when I put this new Pioneer unit in! • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 4 lety

      2 things - Sounds like you need to reprogram the ASWC1. Second, you may have the factory amplified system, so your new radio isn't triggering the factory amp to boot up. The harness adapter we used comes with the amplified harness as well to trigger the amp. That will fix your issue.

      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 8 lety

      Yes, you are able to cut the red/blue wire to connect to the green/white wire of the aswc-1 and same with the orange and green. For the backup camera, yes, if you hook your camera's power and grown to the head unit power so it powers up when the truck is started instead of only in reverse, you would be able to view it at other times besides in reverse, as long as your radio has that functionality.

    There were three plugs out of the back of the stock radio, the large one that is used to connect with the new harness, the small one next to it, and the antenna. What did you do with the small one when it is over? That is the steering wheel power for AC temp/fan/cruise control correct? Are these not functional after you do this?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio

      The smallest one sometimes is used if you have a factory amplifier. The harness (in the description) will come with both a main large harness and the very small harness adapter. See 4:55 in the video for that harness. The middle sized harness typically wont be used.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 7 lety

      The Microbypass allows video playback on Pioneer models while in motion. Bypass the parking brake. This bypass specifically only applies to Pioneer Radios that require a double pulse ground signal. Sounds like that pink wire you have is for the reverse gear wire to for the backup camera.

    • @nadingjeff
      @nadingjeff Před 7 lety

    • @ProvoBeastAudio

      Ok, will this allow video viewing anytime , I guess I am confusing parking brake with this , if I ground the parking brake wire all the time , I will be able to view video all the time. So now all I have to do is find the reverse positive wire. I'll view your video again thanks. I figured out the other wires I had questions about, the orange, brown, black wires are for steering wheel sound control, memory yellow needs a constant B+ and parking brake light green to ground. Are these correct? If so I've got it.

    Man, I am so close! I never thought I could do this myself but ur instructions have got me 90% there! one last thing... my backup camera - the Pyle that u have in description isn't working yet. I have it wire to the backup light correctly (red to the black/pink, black/black) I bought an extension and it's hooked up (a bit long so I coiled it up), and lastly I connected it to the black/pink wire behind the kick plate near the emergency brake to the light green extension wire that comes from the purple (break bypass) from the HU. the message it am getting is "caution the video may be reversed". if I X Out of the screen it HU works fine. camera setting says camera polarity is 'battery'. others have said to change this setting to 'ground'. I've tried but no luck. Any help?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 8 lety

      Don't change it to ground. Its a positive 12v signal. Use a multi meter / test light to ensure you grabbed the correct black / pink wire. There actually may be a few in the bundle, so it is essential you find the right one. A test light would allow you to test for 12v while the truck is in reverse on each black / pink wire.

      I double checked the wires are correct at the backup light.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 8 lety +1

      If you have a pioneer, you cannot simply ground the green wire. Pioneer requires a double pulse ground which is why we used the micro-bypass relay. You can add a manual switch to the green wire, then to a ground and create that double pulse ground manually. Hopefully that helps.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 8 lety +1

      Yes, ground to the chassis. This will allow you to flip the switch to ground, off again, and back on creating a double pulse. That should allow you video playback.

This truck was recently purchased by the customer and the previous owner bypassed the factory amp, so we didn't use that little plug. The remote wire is probably connected in a bad spot. Be sure that the remote input wire on the subwoofer is connected to a source that is only on when the key is on. Best place is to wire it to the pioneer's blue / white wire on the radio. This ensures it turns on and off with the key / radio.

      Use a multi meter to check if the remote wire is on still when the radio is off. If so, there may be an issue with the radio. Ultimately, it needs to be connected to a switched source to turn off / on with the key and radio.

      Opt 2 rca using ground. Remote and power
      Opt 2 powered it with the doors speakers
      Whichever opt we decide it to use, there is a switch for Audio Sense. It it is ON, the door speakers will send the info in order to turn it on and off. I was using the rcas and just turned the switch to off and everything worked fine.

This replicates the double pulse negative as required by the pioneer.
