Man I remember being in the audience that night, I was this close to getting a pack of skittles from Tony. Lady beside me snagged it, but it was still hilarious.
Ive been bingeing clips just now and apparently the show went on a two month break when the strike started and then came back for another 2-ish months without writers before everything got settled. So if i didn't miss anything it was actually more like *4 months* which is crazy!! Yep, just googled it and it lasted 100 days from Nov 2007 to Feb 2008. Wild!!
1:18 - Conan's team share his comic sensibilities so well that they knew if they made a sack with a giant dollar sign on it he would immediately start riffing on it, which he did.
He only has it in stressful times, iirc. This time (the writers strike), when he left NBC and has his tour (and became severely thin), and in the middle of the pandemic (only short beard, probably shaving after less than a month). Maybe he doesnt want to be reminded of it so he shaved almost every other time
In 2007 real comedians were doing shows and they even peaked during WGA strike..... Nowadays "Hosts" do shows and are redundant without their writers... A big fuckin difference
I would do the same if I was a talk show host, I would even invite the entire audience to a huge bbq, with burgers, hotdogs, chilli, chicken, different salads, chips, cookies and different baked goods and non alcoholic beverages like pop, juice, Gatorade and water, I’d be generous as hell….. even if I move into a management position with the company I work for

85 cents for M&Ms 15 years ago
Now?
@@deslow7411before I got on the time traveling machine in 3026 M&Ms were $150 for a small package
$2 regular size in a liquor store
@@deslow7411they're only a dollar in vending machines now lol
Yea? It's called inflation. That .85 = 1.23 in today's money and that's about the price of M & Ms in vending machines today.
Imagine getting a ticket to see the show just to spend the entire time in the back hallway, grabbing snacks lol
Haha
I was thinking the same, but then again they got screen time.
It's a heroes work! lol
@@the_stagnant lol same
He probably got compensated
Conan steps over that desk and onto the stage like a regular-sized adult stepping over a child's playset.
He didn't step over the desk, he stepped on it.
@@FtheWokewow what a revelation thanks.
Jay Leno the next day: „ALL EMPTY!!!??? WHO?“
The rest is history
Jay filmed in Burbank, CA. It was probably Brian Williams.

it was more than a f*cking month???? I thought it was like a week lmfao man absolutely best f*cking era on the show BY FAR
Shhhhhhhhh, keep your voice down or the writers will hear you and get sad

He should've worked 2 machines. While the snack in one machine is dropping, insert money in another machine.
Yeah, also don’t need to get the snack out every time it drops.
Or just call the vendor and ask for 500 dollars worth of food.

Conan looks just like my Son with that Beard I had to do a few double takes☺️
I think we can all agree that the Writer's strike unleashed the best moments of the Late Night show. Also, it introduced us to Jordan.
I viscerally remember this 😂
Bringing back so many memories
Linzi = Meadow Soprano.
Brooo ur right
and then a Buccaneers cheerleader shows up at the end to help with the candy lmao
The thumbnail looks like Tony’s getting snacks while being scolded by Anna Kendrick
That couple at 3:15 freaking out over being in the far background on camera lol
Thats just lovely
Hope they're well 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
This is phenomenal. Although he didn't go upstairs he stayed on the same floor what

There it is.
NBC really screwed up dropping Conan. His the best! Love him
Tony sounds like Ray Barrone lol
Conan picking Ray Romano out of the audience.
Ohh come on Tony, put in many bills at a time. Be efficient.
I could have done it, I'd have been using all the machines.
The technique was way off. He should have inserted a bunch of bills then made the selections
I think he tried but it wouldn't let him.
Have you never used one? That's not how they work at all😂
When you hire a meathead you get meathead results 😅😂

Colbert and the two Jimmies are helpless without writers. Hopefully the guest is funny enough to hold up the show.
Letterman and Conan were also paying their writers during this time, so they could afford to stay on strike without becoming homeless.

That’s how we got jobs back in the day

Conan’s show was filmed in a hospital?
Might look like one, but in fact there were multiple shows set up. I think i remember a news station was filming there as well
