    I learned leather-crafting from my mother and have been doing it for years. All of my carry guns have hand-made exotic-hide holsters, made in my small gunsmithing shop. I always worried that word would get out and I would suddenly get lots of people who wanted custom holsters made. Making mass quantities of custom holsters would take the fun out of the craft for me. Big props to Sam Andrews for grinding out holsters day after day and not burning out. Well done, sir.

    What great work you do, attention to detail. I used to have this great knife that my grandfather carried during fighting in the pacific, in had this sheath and belt that was so heavy duty you could almost use it for a weapon. The belt and sheath was probally made in the early 40's and no idea when the knife was made, but I remember when I was young my Grandmother would show it to me, the whole rig was heavy duty. This was probally made in New York State or Vermont, never knew my grandfather so I have no history on the gear. Thanks

    This guy could definitely do a tv show just on holsters and i guarantee you that people would watch him because #1 he's a master craftsman #2 he explains everything he is doing down to the smallest detail. #3 his voice is very mesmerizing while he works. It literally makes you want to pay attention.
    This man could do anything on a tv show and people would watch him simply because of his voice but knowing him he probably wouldn't sell his soul to show business witch in my opinion is wise.

He truly makes the best products I've ever seen and it's a absolute pleasure seeing how he goes through the steps and the best part is he doesn't deny that mistakes got him to perfection it really makes the craft seem doable to someone like myself who has had his own share of trial and error with this craft.

    Hank's videos with Sam have been some of the basis of my own holster making. They kind of "nudged" me over the edge. If I ever do get to retire to being holed-up in my shop, I think I may have to play Hank's background music on the loop while I work. Yes, the videos are entertaining, but to see a step-by-step how-it's-made with no pretension, no chest pumping and basic instruction is refreshing. Thanks Hank ... and Thank You, Sam. (... and I like the camera work. Sam's not the only one getting better as time goes on.)

Watching your holster making videos have inspired me through the years to DIY my own holsters. I can never achieve or come close to the quality of anything you make, but I've gotten so much instructional input from your detailed segments that I can make functional holsters that serve my purpose. Amazing Craftsmanship! Also, Amazing business model.........they don't make them (the business) like yours Sir anymore........I wish they did.....If I were a real gun owner ( one day I might become one) . • @Satchmoeddie
      @Satchmoeddie Před 6 lety +4

      An idiot can cut and heat form Kydex. Kydex is actually a PVC based material. PVC has a very poor thermal expansion and contraction coefficient. PVC conduit has been known to tear apart #12 gauge steel electrical boxes when the temperature drops a mere 40 or 50 degrees. Imagine trying to draw your gun from a Kydex holster that was set up for good retention when it was 95 degrees out, and now it's 3 degrees! I have damn near tore my pants off trying to extricate a gun from a Kydex POS holster when it was -6 out. Kydex also tears your gun up. Kydex is a great material for people with limited skills, and few tools. It's okay, and it's fine for plastic mass produced guns, but I would NEVER put a Colt Python or a Wildey Hunter in Kydex.

    • @reecephillips5463
      @reecephillips5463 Před 6 lety

      I agree and disagree with the popular opinion. I like leather holsters I have a galco jackass for my glock just for when I want to be fancy or depending on what I'm wearing. I also have a gcode incog. I either carry appendix with the mag caddy or at about 4oclock without the mag caddy for obvious reasons. I prefer kydex for the purpose its rigid and I dont have to worry about temperature changing it as I live in florida so we don't get hot to cold fast. Leather will eventually loosen and can be caught in the trigger guard if you aren't paying attention. Saw a dude get a round in his ass cheek cuz his leather collapsed on him. I love both but if I had to pick I'd go with kydex for rigidness.

    I use mostly kydex but have several leather holsters, I must say none of them (top brands) are on the same level of quality that these seem to be. Great stuff and thanks.

    Great Video! It is also really cool that Sam made all the lead character’s holsters and leather goods for the New Magnificent Seven Movie!
