      you literally see him downshift AFTER making the second move thus braking after, the first one isnt really even a move since he was moving towards the corners to take that one optimally and defended after that.

      Danny was already breaking when Max made his 2nd move, but Max didn't start breaking until just after it. Either Danny braked slightly early, Max braked too late or Danny was expecting problems and wanted to take a very tight line through the corner

      There's no debate about what happened, Riccardo following that close compromised his front wings ability to create downforce.
      He tries to approach the corner at the rate of the car he's tailing but due to lack of downforce he locks his wheels and slides.

    Max made a double move and braked significantly earlier than dan before the collision, stupid driving by Max, unlucky for dan that a driver in front left him with nowhere to go.

      when you look at all the imiges you can see that max is looking in his mirrors and moves on Danis first move. Dani right. max slightly right. after that max is in his breaking zone. Dani tried to get to the other side but didn't have room. He saw that to but Max hits the breaks right at the point where Dani's drs comes off. Which leaves him with NO chance to stop at that point as his down force is too disturbed behind Max. I would conclude that neither driver was at fault. I would say the drs closing point was way to close to the end of the streight. As you can see at the last view in this clip. Dani's drs closes mere mili seconds before they hit. and Max there is allready in his breaking zone.

You are right it is Vettels fault cause there is no official rule about it and because he was at the back, but I think there wasn't much he could do about it. He was clearly faster even before verstappen started to break (because verstappen went wide in the corner) and if you generally look at verstappens driving he isn't mostly known for a clean one... • @PbPomper
      @PbPomper Před 6 lety +3

      Being unpredictable is a good thing for a driver. Also, there is no rule that says you can not move to a more defensive line BEFORE the braking point.
      They are both to blame. Not just Max. It is funny to me seeing people totally ignore the fact that Ricciardo made a total do or die move. His signature divebomb move usually works, although the one with Bottas could have ended in tears all the same. The problem with that move is that there is no way to avoid a crash if your opponent does something you did not expect because you are going to the inside.

    • @Emilioalessio12
      @Emilioalessio12 Před 6 lety +7

      PbPomper I’m not ignoring that it was a divebomb and also believe it’s not entirely Max’s fault, however Max has shown time and again that he makes poor racing decision which even if are within the ‘rules’ cause crashes, this is one of them

    I dont really care if moving side to side is against the rules or not anymore, Max needs to think about self preservation. He knows where Daniel is. He knows what Daniel is committed to. How can you move over at the last moment and expect the car behind to slow down in time? Even if you are allowed to do it, you shouldnt do it due to the possibility of getting ran over. Sometimes you need to let an aggressive driver by to live to fight another day.

    • @nickdentoom1173
      @nickdentoom1173 Před 6 lety

      Except: It would have resulted in a crash regardless (Look at the pitwall on the left, no way Ricciardo could have made that move stick without crashing, because he speed was also too high).

    • @Peregrine1984
      @Peregrine1984 Před 6 lety +3

      Nick den Toom Actually you're completely missing an important point, when Max moved under braking he moved the turbulent wake over Daniel's front wing, which is why this is the only move he locked up both front tyres. If Max had of followed the rules, Daniel's speed was fine.

    • @QuagerMX
      @QuagerMX Před 6 lety +4

      Nick den Toom There was enough room between Max and the wall at 0:14 before he moved over. I would say you could call Daniels move a little too hopeful there, but if Max left the space and Daniel blew the corner into the run-off space, that would have been his problem, not Max's

    • @nickdentoom1173
      @nickdentoom1173 Před 6 lety

      But thing is: Max never moved under breaking. Go watch the vid again and listen to the engine. Max starts breaking when he is already completely in front of Dani, because he wants to turn in for the corner. Completely Daniels fault here, since he should have backed off.
      @Quags
      There was room yes, but not enough, because Daniels speed was way too high and he would have hit Max regardless, since Max would have turned in to make the corner.

    • @Atomicunderware
      @Atomicunderware Před 6 lety

      Moving under braking is not the issue. Moving twice to defend a position is, braking or not. That's what Verstappen did, clear as day. Whatever 'might' have happened to Ricciardo is irrelevant, as the cut left by Max stalled Dans front wing and thus caused them to crash.

      Well to be fair, other drivers are mostly following the rules and value finishing the race over getting a "dnf".
      There is a very well known saying:
      'To win a race, you must first get to the end of it!'
      Still, Max is different, he seems to bend the rules at will and gets away with it probably because he is a big factor of financial interest, is not a title contender, wants to desperately "show off" how "good" he is and therefore has nothing to lose, other than his reputation and the trust of other drivers of course.
      But obviously he doesn't care and he doesn't learn, according to him and his followers it's always the others that ruin his races and sometimes he is out to get revenge by simply not acknowledging the presence of others around him during the races it seems.
      The soft and lenient "punishments" he gets, the fans that fully support him and blame others despite of Max' very bad racing etiquette, the teamchefs at RBR that always make excuses rather than telling the truth etc., are not helping the cause at all, even worse, they are probably a few of the many reasons why he does pull off these stunts and has no respect to his opponents, nor even to his very own teammate Danny.....
      _"They simply don't want to lose the extra __-orange-__ money, do they?!_
      ------------------------------
      PS: If this was F1 in the 50's - 90's, Max already would have injured or killed himself and or someone else by now.
      This type of "racing etiquette" Max is using over and over again is unacceptable, as this isn't a "arcade online racing game", no, actual people are risking their lives driving these monsters and that's why the rules of clean and fair racing have been made.
      In all honesty, Max really needs to learn that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, Ricky was clearly faster so there was no point in driving that aggresively.
      This is "F1", a non-contact series of mptorsports, and not some crazy "NASCAR" or "Bumper Car" event at your local fair.....

    The main thing is that, whith DRS, the speed differential between the two car is so big. So, arriving to the corner, Ricciardo was much faster ( may be 30-40 km/ h faster) and once he moved to the left after Verstappen moved to right , he was committed to to left and that's it. What Crashtappen and his defensers do not get is that beyond that point the car coming from behind can not slown down any faster and have barely enough braking distance to make corner. Stepping ahead of him beyond thid point is calling for an accident, that's it. If you wanna change your li e 1-2 or three time, you need to do before this point of non return.

    Can we all just quickly remind ourselves that all the Dutch fans commenting "Ricciardo to blame" we'rent watching F1 6 or 7 years ago
    To them, seeing Max cause accidents like this without condemnation from Red Bull is the norm - plus they're not particularly aware of the "one move whilst defending" rule.
    0:25 Verstappen sees Ricciardo move right, and darts to the right to try and force Ricciardo further to the outside (whilst opening at least a cars width on the inside). When Max no longer sees Ricciardo in his right wing mirror as he would expect, he panics and leans back left (i.e the second move, which is illegal) and removes the car width of space he opened up, hoping to block Ricciardo from lunging down the inside. Unfortunately it's already too late, with Ricciardo being the last of the late brakers and Max removing a large portion of Ricciardos front downforce by blocking him, there was nowhere for Dan to go. Verstappen was sold the dummy and panicked.
    Remember kids - if the door is open, you ARE allowed to close it. However if you open the door and then immediately proceed to close it coming into the same corner - that is illegal.
    Sometimes you have to accept that the car behind has outfoxed you. Had Max ceded the position and got him back at turn three, we'd all be commending him.

    Somany haters. But at the end this was the best fight ive seen in the last 3 years. This is what makes us watch F1. Ofcourse sad it ended like this but jesus christ we want some action and when we get it we all go crycry.

      DarkstealthGaming Ye i agree that good racing IS what we want to see....but either way I do also get IT why ppl are being mad at Max, seems like he never learns....

      Balnazzardi well, sorry to tell you but max is not at fault alone here and ricciardo is even more at fault if u wanna blame fingers. The whole race he went to the right, now he went to the right and max went left ( before the braking zone so thats ALLOWED ) and daniel just tried to go for a invisible hole.

      DarkstealthGaming we call it over committing, clearly there was no room there.. Same was with Hamilton crash with Rosberg a driver doesn't leave enough room and so you force yourself in, at no point did Max give him room to Overtake, I don't know where he was actually going and to add, at his speed he wouldn't have made that corner

      Fanuel Sayi what your saying makes no sence. Your blaming max yet saying ricciardo had no room? There was a whole track to the right, daniel went right EVERYTIME and even now he made a move to the right what made max go to the left. In my oppinion max left him enough space and daniel just tried something that will never work. Should have just kept his calm and go to the right. He even admitted he was to late to attack there.
