    It is inexcusable that these guys weren't inducted in the early to mid 90s. If you look at the list of bands that are already in the hall, and you compare many of them with DP, it really exposes the hall of fame as a complete farse.
    😡 Edit: Since 6 years ago when I posted ^this, the R&R HOF have inducted Eminem in his first eligible year! He's not even a rocker, he's a cultural and racial appropriator, which _SHOULD_ outrage the "progressives" in the entertainment media! But they induct him in year 1, while waiting 41 years to induct Randy Rhoads, an actual rocker!

      Big rock music fan from India why do deserving bands like Deep Purple, Yes, Rush get inducted so late in HOF? Is there some kind of favoritism by jury and lobbying to decide who gets the nod & who doesn't? Grand Funk Railroad, Iron Maiden also not there and I am honestly puzzled why ? Or why not?

    Blackmore doesn't have to prove anything. He is absolutely the greatest guitarist ever in the Business. He has created more original music than anyone else and he never has repeated himself. At nine years old I knew Ritchie and Lord were special. Paice is a monster. When Ian and Roger left Ritchie and Lord revamps Purple and Burn was fresh and different. In 85 Mark ll gets back together and they created the greatest reunion album in History Perfect Strangers. They didn't rely on their past success and created music that stands on it's own. They have done what no other band has ever done. The RARHOF is a joke. I knew when the creators picked Cleveland for their Venue they had their heads up their asses. RITCHIE Has been in the Hall of Fame since Purple warmed up Cream for 5 shows and blew them off the stage. Ritchie wanted to be there but was touring with his other band I believe. I saw an interview with him where he spoke of it. He also indicated that he was not averse to playing a few more concerts with Deep Purple, but with different managers and contracts, negotiations, etc; it would be a logistical/legal nightmare that would be difficult for most of us to understand. Further, he has no lingering animosity against Ian or others that keeps being reported. It would be amazing to see Deep Purple play together once more before more members pass. Even better while Jon Lord was alive. Lord was probably the greatest rock organist in the world and certainly the one responsible for Deep Purple's sound. When each of us die, both we ourselves and those who love us, seem to voice many regrets. It's sad to say but surely the remaining members of Deep a Purple all have their regrets and realize that our childish, prideful, arguments that stop our progression and keep us from our potential and make each of us losers of the love and friendship that would have enhanced our lives as well as depriving fans who supported us of more amazing musicianship would have been better than the loss of loved ones and friends who were a huge part of our life and made each of us who we currently are. We all owe each other, and especially God, a great debt for allowing us the associations we share with one another. Life simply marches on around us, or if we allow it, over the top of us and nothing or no one, save God Himself, can stop it. Thank you Deep Purple, present and past for sharing yourselves and greatly enriching my life and the world.

Gillan is the reason why the great Blackmore stayed away. It's not hate, it's that Ritchie knows that Ian Gillan can piss him off, and would. Both of them know that Gillan is the recognizable voice of Deep Purple - and that Blackmore is the same thing, on the instrumental side...but the fact is that their contest of wills goes back more than 40 years. I think that Tommy Bolin should have absolutely been inducted alongside these guys, because his guitar work on "Come Taste the Band" is very, very good, and he was an amazing player. Even Blackmore himself praised Tommy's talents, both when Tommy was alive and after he died.

    Blackmore on Gillan when they were both in the band: "He was an alpha guy, so was I. He wanted control, I wanted control. So we butted heads because of that. We still respected each other, but we never got on. We couldn't be in the same room." Gillan enjoying deciding what Deep Purple does and doesn't do reminds me of what happened when Dave Gilmour's lawyers managed to get him control of the Pink Floyd name. He basically said to himself, I'm still in the band and Roger's not -- oh, that means I'm the bigger man, I win! And he made a track called "A New Machine" (sequel to "Welcome To The Machine") on which no member of Floyd but himself played, and put it out as by "Pink Floyd." Egos.

    I was really looking forward to their induction and the fact Ritchie did not show up is just crappy. Moments like this happen once in life and for your legacy you must seize the moment. Jon Lord and Ritchie were very close and just out of respect for Jon, he should have been there. There are very few if any bands top to bottom that could match the musicianship of DP.

    Ian Gillan made DP to who they were, as a vocalist. Coverdale was great, but preferred him more when he formed Whitesnake.

      Ian is a lovely ,fine man and Blackmore is the one with such a bad character and the big ego. Deep Purple still exists today because of the friendship between the members and Ian is the driving force behind Purple together with Roger and the records made after Blackmore are very beautiful too.

    Blackmore was Deep Purple and the guys you see holding a statue are the backing band. Too many other musicians have been in the band. It’s like the circus, too many clowns. Answer why you are playing the songs he wrote. Ritchie rules.

      The old singalong on Hush. David and Glenn could have sung along. After all, Gillan wasn't on the original either. A bit of selfishness on his part. I am sure Gillan was the only one against David and Glenn performing. No offence, but his voice could have used the break. Love the man, but his ego could have backed off a bit. David 's speech and Don Airey's keyboards were the highlight of DP's part. Don was the best choice to fill Jon's shoes. The only choice.

    • @stormbringercoming8105

      I wasn't knocking Deep Purple !!! I was knocking the HOF! Deep Purple always had class. Even they would call it a dog and pony show. I was lamenting the fact that in their shining moment, it was nothing but where's Ritchie? They SHOULD have included Coverdale and Hughes during HUSH. It was classless of them to not include those guys during some part of the musical performance. (Yeah, I know their reasons not to, etc..) Gillan clearly needed some vocal back up.

  • @sunshadows1328
    @sunshadows1328 Před 8 lety +3

    It´s disgusting to hear how Gillan is just telling lies in front of the journalists here!.... But his body language cannot hide the real truth. And he also revealed already some years ago that he would rather put down the induction than share the same stage with Blackmore again. To claim that it is a way to honor to Morse and Airey to just let them play at the ceremony is his way to try to hide the real reason. Gillan was scared to death having to be exposed to Blackmore once more. You know some kind of musicians age more rapidly than others while som others still has their brilliance and power intact.... And it seems like paice and especially Glover feel a bit awkward about the situation.

    • @modres
      @modres Před 8 lety +1

      +sunshadows13 Yep, you nailed it. These guys don't want to be the "bad" guys, but whether or not Blackmore would have attended on his own is another thing altogether. In the end, he was essentially told he could NOT perform with the band on stage.
      As far as the aging thing goes, Gillan not only looks old, but SOUNDS very old and tired. Blackmore, on the other hand, doesn't look that much older than he did when DP was at its best. I can't believe Gillan still sings, frankly. He should just stop.
      Paice and Glover tried to make it sound like Blackmore is so much of an individualist (he is) that he would say one thing and do another (he wouldn't). Without Blackmore, DP would not exist and it's as simple as that.

    • @thebrazilianatlantis165
      @thebrazilianatlantis165 Před 8 lety +1

      +sunshadows13 Yes, Gillan and Blackmore performing together is beneath Gillan's pride (which _is_ completely Gillan's right btw), and Gillan has the ball, so he's taking it home. Phony of Gillan to pretend it's anything else.

    • @sunshadows1328
      @sunshadows1328 Před 8 lety +1

      +Joseph Scott I`m very pleased and glad to see that the majority of folks here don´t buy Gillans false mytological delia.... I must say that Glover seems to mean that he would love to see Blackmore there and his bodylanguage syncs well to his lips. Paice is busy trying to save Gillans face - from spreading even more false lies. But he fails in doing that, mainly as they both seem taken by surprise by Gillans falsifications....

    • @sunshadows1328
      @sunshadows1328 Před 8 lety +1

      +Fred DeRuvo I do think that the one that realy rides this whole thing through with credibility, integrity, professionalism and respect is DP:s original co-founder Ritchie Blackmore. Gillan is not connected with any credibility at all....

    I'm guessing all the fans know that Ritchie wasn't invited because most surely Ian Gillian was throwing shit at him, and also threatening the decisions board about inviting Ritchie.
    All the fans know he's extra salty about Ritchie. And i guess it hurt Ian to the core that Ritchie received more applause and ovation than him. Total crime to the music world.
    And all the fans know that Deep Purple's "Main Sound" came from "Ritchie Fucking Blackmore". Even Jon Lord acknowledged that.
