ABOUT PAPADAKIS RACING:
The Papadakis Racing team began drifting in 2004 and is the most winning team in Formula Drift history, earning the 2015 & 2021 titles with driver Fredric Aasbo, as well as back to back championship titles with driver Tanner Foust in 2007 and 2008. The Rockstar Energy Drink / Nitto Tire Toyota GR Supra is the latest competition build from the Carson, California, based team.
Team owner Stephan Papadakis is a legend of sport compact racing who began building his reputation in the 1990s with the first front-wheel drive, tube-chassis drag car in the U.S. The team earned multiple records and championships in the discipline, turning in elapsed times and trap speeds previously thought unattainable in front-drive drag cars. Papadakis' successes in front-wheel drive were matched by his efforts in rear-wheel drive when he campaigned a Honda Civic that became just the fifth car to join the NHRA's Sport Compact 200 MPH club - Auta a dopravní prostředky
When Papadakis post a videos you just sit down, watch and learn, even if it's about a little RAV4! 😎
even with portable sink that he posted couple months ago
You're absolutely right! Very few channels are like that IMO, and I barely even work on cars..!
YUP
Funny thing is , even though it's just a little RAV4 , it has more headroom than most full size pickups .
He's not messing around!
Stephan is a wealth of knowledge on anything with 4 wheels, he’s a walking encyclopedia.
He's THE Legend :)
Man, I learned more about suspension tuning and such today than I have ever before! Thanks!
I saw the 3SGTE on the stand and thought this will be the wildest suspension install I've ever seen!
You should watch project binky then
@@freditarenomm7987 Thanks, that looks fun!
That looks like it’s out of a caldina or celica
@@v8_sami ST246 Caldina
Ex Gen 1 owner, the 3SGTE was the ultimate upgrade that most owners really wanted. I want to buy my old car back badly
This is so much cooler to watch than all the super expensive pro builds out on the web.
Well this is pro build. Tell me how many people can fabricate mounts for shocks?
Indeed
@@dkdanis1340 well yes, but its not some sorta high zoot ground up buggy build, or even the trendy Tacoma...its an old Rav4!
@@dkdanis1340 still not out of the reach of a decent home setup. That’s about as basic as fabrication gets and could be done pretty easily with an angle grinder, welder, cardboard to make templates etc. May not be as pretty but could certainly be done.
@@benyvonnemckenzie6576 also they used high end bypass shocks. But yeah it can be done.
I love this RAV4 build. Part 3, please!
more pleasee

I'd love to work with someone like that to learn more, no bs straight to the point and knows it's thing
The best combination of engineering and fabrication I've seen on CZcams!
It’s not that I don’t doubt you but have you watched the project binky build from Bad Obsession Motorsport? If you love engineering and fab I urge you to watch it.
@@gtrjudd86 that's a fair point!
9:22 wooooow! Is that the mighty 3sgte engine? 😱🤩🤩🤩😍
Your videos are gold. I learn something everytime. Love the detail of enforcing the bottom end of the strut to prevent failure at the single sided shearing. I can't wait for more horsepower.
The sheer amount of knowledge shared per minute is something else
You have no idea how much i love this project. This exact model is my homies first and current car, and it's just such a fun little devil.
You’re the only one I can pay attention for almost 11 minutes talking about a RAV4
I had one of these when I was in high school. My mom’s old car. I wish I could go back and realize how cool it was. It wasn’t until years later that I learned about the Celica underpinnings.
Great explainer about suspension theory. I love seeing a professional race team using their skills to build a fun regular car.
Anyone who builds an obscure vehicle into a potential racing machine got my subscription! Lets get insane with this machine. I hope it spirals out of control and gets independend long travel suspension custom made by you!
Glad to see someone is doing something with a rav4. Personally I think the 90’s rav 4s have aged very well. That turbo motor is going to make it a sick little off road racer.
Everyone's talking about the educational content, and I agree, but also want to point out that the faded purple/blue color with the satin gold finish on the rims is 👌
Please make more content. These are so informative and cool to watch.
The Caldina engine at the end put a smile on my face. Can’t wait to see the progression of this build! #3Spower
BRING BACK THE RAV 4 BUILD
This shows how much you can learn from a simple build. I always wanted to build a manual rav buggy with a 3gste.
Never thought a Rav4 could ever be this cool
Been in the business 30+ years and always learn something here, so awesome!
I wish I could just follow you around all day and have you narrate your activities
Seems like Stephan educated more than just me, such a fantastic visual explanation of suspension travel. Thank you Stephan for the great content love this little build 👍😃
Lisa Kubo is calling. She wants you to come out and play. Nostalgia drag racing!!!!
Please post more of the RAV4 build! I have learned so much about building it and would love to hear more about the build!
YES! More Rav4 videos please!
Papadakis turboing a Baja rav 4 is what dreams are made of
My first car was a 99 Rav4 so this build is hitting that nostalgia.
More please . Rally is the way to go man . Rally racing is wild
I love that you are doing this to an old rav4
That 3SGTE just sitting there is such a tease
That RAV is gunna be a bloody weapon!
A build we did not see coming haha 3-door RAV4 is one of my dream cars!
I wanna build my 2001 rav4 to be more off road. I just don’t know much about working on cars. Learning from your vids sure does help
I'm in love with this little rav4 best series on yt atm..
Steph is having fun, good to see him catch a break and do some fun stuff. Dudes always working hard.
The last report Steph was still digging those wheels out
This Rav4 is already the coolest truck I have ever seen, and now he is adding some horsepower!
I hope to see more of the rav4
I hope too
Great editing! Easy to follow and understand! Top job!
This will be the greatest RAV4 ever built.
Drooling on that motor the whole time.
I love this man’s content. So many car channels do full builds or upgrade videos where they try and upgrade everything about a car in one or two video which is great but doesn’t have much value as a viewer other than entertainment. With the Papadakis videos you learn so much and appreciate the time and effort that goes into perfecting things like suspension.
It seems silly but these kinds of video rekindle my love for cars
Love all your content! Thanks for sharing with us all!
Love seeing the improvements being done progressively
Loving this series. I'd love to see how this thing performs with lockers, even limited slip differentials.
Seeing that 3s gte gets me excited for the next episode.
So good, best videos out there. Thank you.
So glad this video exists, I learned quite a bit about suspension in this one! I went out and experienced local SCCA rallycross for the first time, even took my stock 07 Corolla out for a few laps and fell in love! I need to get an AWD car for a move north soon, and I've been eyeing up old first gen CR-Vs. My thought now is the initial plan of the RAV4 build: something reliable (in my case, a daily) that I can take rallycross racing on the weekends!
From what I observed and experienced, it seems the best way to do this would be entering the prepped class with something that has a little more work put into survivability! With small rallycross courses, it seems suspension and control might be more of an advantage for a power-limited vehicle, so I've been trying to figure out the best way to set up more capable suspension from stock mounting points and without altering the body panels (per the rules and also not wanting to hack up a daily too much).
Super fun video, definitely gave me a lot to think about! I'm glad there are experienced guys like you out there willing to play around with low-buck projects and share that knowledge with something anybody can obtain on a budget!
Always doing the best job explaining even the most technical things in a manner that's entertaining and able to be understood by just about anyone.
never have i clicked on a Rav4 video!
The fact that you just put out such information dense videos that entertain as well is so appreciated. I love learning from these videos.
Eeewww 😯 I like that universal strut kit! Also love how you took an econo SUV and pretty much made it a ralley machine 🤘🏼 the imagination is running wild now, HA
Love the videos, can't wait for the next part! Your explainations are so nice and clear too
Excellent suspension engineering and a good understanding of what’s happening. Nice job!
This is fantastic, especially the little rav4! It looks like a rc car
I always enjoy how easily and thoroughly you explain everything you're doing, and without any kind of macho bs or anything. A real font of knowledge.
This is what a true car guy does when he gets this much knowledge and money
This series is awesome I love that you did a Rav 4
I need a Rav 4 built like this in my life hahaha. I have something close but not a cute Rav 4. Thanks for this series.
I'm buzzing for this series. Even if the videos were longer.
I love your channel so much, so intuitive and methodical with your design, build and test process!
waiting for part 3 soooo long mate
Really enjoying this series, probably one of the most informative channels on youtube
This build is so random and yet so amazing!
You can surprise me every time! Quality Content as usual!
So much knowledge and everything you touch turns to gold. Can't wait to see what's next.
WOW, 107,090+ views, that tell you something. Thanks, Papadakis Racing, for doing one for us, the little guys.
ive been wanting a two door gen1 rav4 like this for years. they are so cool
Really cool build, I have a 97 4-door, thanks for the inspiration!
What a cool build. Keep going with this build.
Been waiting for Part 3 of this video for 87 years now...
So good! Love this little Rav.
Great video. In fact all the videos from this channel are great. Anyone trying to tune their suspension whether it be dirtbike, mtb, car or whatever should watch this video. Great explanation.
Thanks for teaching us so much.
As a 22yo mechanical engineer, I really look up to you!
Ever since I saw primedriven's 3sgte swapped rav4 ive wanted one. I love the visuals while explaining suspension. Really helped me truly understand what's going on
Wow! Great explanation of bump and rebound. Looking forward to your engine upgrade now.
I'm all in for this series..Good stuff!
Been waiting for this episode!
i love this build so much thank you
Heck yeah! Those shocks are sweet!
I would pay good money to see Papadakis videos more often. Best channel on CZcams, hands down.
So good. Entertained, educated and motivated = what we get from your videos. Thank you.
I can't wait to do this on my 97 rav4 door... this one video answered so many of my question
Yes, Stephan we want to see more!
I have a 2 door rav 4 and love seeing this!
Hell yeah. I love these videos, glad to see new content coming.
Wow. What a difference. Can’t wait to see more upgrades.
A great looking vehicle. love to see part #3.
This little build is slowly turning into one of my favorites that's ongoing currently. haha Keep up the awesome content!
So stoked you’re posting again. Hopefully you start posting consistently. Great video!
Awesome content! As always
What an awesome video as always!
lovely fab work as always
Just great videos overall. The narrative and video combos are just perfect.
