  • The first of a series? Some thoughts on guitar concepts for Aimee Mann's wonderful song Save Me.
This sort of analysis is really helpful for me in my quest to find the best approaches to creating guitar parts that both support and bring interest to songs, especially in studio settings.
Again, the details of the specific parts, and playing them exactly note-for-note, is less important here than the overall ideas. I'm looking at 3 ideas in this vide:
    1) Adding textures to repeated sections
    2) Subdivisions
    3) "Flag posts"
    I repeat myself a lot.
I hope this is useful, thanks for watching!

That was great. I would think that people who follow Eric Haugen and Anyone Can Play Guitar channels would love this kind of analysis of arrangements.

Hey JPM, I have an unrelated question to this video, but regarding one of your tunes on a platform for film music. The tune is Back Alley Deal and it is supposed to be from you. Could you help me out getting the arrangements or maybe do a video where you show us how to play it. Would be awesome, cause it's got a really really nice flow to it. Cheers in advance!

Hey Jakob, you're welcome to message me if you want more of a detailed walk-through, but the bulk of it is vi, IV7, I, III7. then the melody just gets passed around between the different instruments.
