I feel like those of us in the US who've only learned of Hannah Waddingham from Ted Lasso have been cheated all these previous years! What an amazingly talented and beautiful person she is!
Her talent, humour, beauty and wit are off the scale.
Now that is how to sing "Send in the Clowns". Right from the first line you get goosebumps and start welling up. Hannah has that ineffable quality that even many great actors never achieve: she doesn't just sing or speak her lines with skill, she expresses the emotional meaning behind them so they take a shortcut straight into your soul. One of the greatest ever.
No wonder she made Sondheim cry. Masterfully performed.
Just done a CZcams stalking of Hannah from Ted Lasso cast at the Emmys, via Into The Woods, to this exquisitely judged performance. She is phenomenal, so grateful to catch up with her.
Best rendition I've ever heard. Thank you, Hannah Waddingham
This woman is an immense talent.
Haunting…and the cello solo ~ simply beautiful melancholy ❤
She's an absolutely wonderful singer. I would love to hear her sing a rendition of "Blue Bayou."
...and beautiful cello playing
I've never heard this song performed in such a raw and painful way before. It's impossible not to choke up. Brilliant.
Many women have performed this song brilliantly including Judi Dench, Patti LuPone, and Jean Simmons.
Only Glynnis Johns
You hang on to every lyric coming out of her vocal. That's how you sing this gem of a song.
This is so stunning, I am kind of speechless. Wow.
I am speechless....
So perfect. It's a delicate song, full of emotion and restraint, the ironies of love, timing, and relationships, of missed moments, regrets and a wisp of hope. She moved me greatly. Who can't relate to the song when expressed like this. (I also loved Daniel Boaventura's version, also from the musical theater world).
Such a talented performer wth I love her !!
She is so versatile! And she can rock.
She’s an absolutely great singer! She’s really trying right here. Good on her!
She's wonderful on Ted Lasso
Wow, she doesn't so much sing this as act it. We know she has the pipes to do it. She could belt it out, bleed it of angst. But this performance is far more attuned to the character in the musical. Every line and gesture is heartbreak.
Yep, I mean she is most known for her stage performances in musicals so yes it makes sense. This is her cup of Tea...
A singer sings a song. A performer tells a story with a song….
THis song should not be belted! Thank you, Hannah
this song should always be done by a great actress rather than a great singer, its all in the acting. the best performances are done by Judy Dench, Glynis Johns, Glenn Close, not the best singers
Yeah, the song wasn't originally written for a powerful voice. This is exactly how it should be performed (especially in the musical). Don't get me wrong, I love a good belted song, but the emotion is just so strong in this version.
Loving in the intonation and the cello towards the end. Fantastic.
Stunning at remembrance day concert , royal albert hall, wonderful singer so talented.
Wow, what a talented woman xxx
Perfection.
She needs to play Mame on Broadway!
Love you 😌💓
WoW
Damn, I thought my clown song wasn't bad...
why did I start watching Ted Lasso???
Well, she's no Glynis Johns but she'll do.
And God created woman…
I have hated this song for decades. Don't quite know the reason. Maybe it's clowns.
