  • Hello Amigas and Amigos in this beautiful day! 🫡🇵🇹
Sorry for the delay, I had technical issues with this video. Now it is ready for you to watch.
Long story short, we visited Óbidos. For me, it's not the first time, but my wife and daughter have never been here. We really enjoyed our visit🇵🇹
    Stay Tuned!!!
    Fact dose about the place:
Óbidos is a charming town and municipality in the Leiria district of Portugal. The town has around 2-3,000 residents, while the municipality has a population of 11,772, covering an area of 141.55 square kilometers.
In 1755, an earthquake damaged the village walls, several churches, and many buildings, leading to the loss of much of its Arab and Medieval architecture.
Located on the Atlantic coast, Óbidos is close to Caldas da Rainha, Bombarral, Lourinhã, and Peniche. The town, perched on a hill and surrounded by strong walls, features a castle that now serves as a tourist accommodation.
Óbidos attracts visitors for its golf courses at Praia D'el Rey and Royal Óbidos. Every July, the castle hosts a Medieval Market for two weeks, recreating medieval times with flags, performers, stalls, shows, horses, and parades in period costumes. Visitors can enjoy medieval-style food like roasted meat and soup, served in metal cups and wooden plates.
The town is also known for its many bookstores, including one located in a church, making it a great destination for history, culture, and book lovers.
Real estate in Óbidos is priced at an average of 2,500 euros per square meter for buying and 17 euros per square meter for long-term rentals. Rental prices are high due to the demand for villas in Amoreira and Vau, with fewer apartments available.

Bom Dia Andrejs. I loved the video. The drone shots were fantastic. Best I've seen there!! Most people only fly the drone over Óbidos in one direction and leave it at that. It's such a beautiful place to capture drone footage.
Looks like you went on a good day. As I mentioned, I used to go twice a week to my Portuguese classes and so I've seen it both very busy (Christmas) and quite quiet. I'll take it either way.
There used to be a few rentals available, and not that long ago they had a group of apartments for sale but they are all probably sold now (you can see the pool at 3:09 - top left of the screen, where the apartments were for sale).
The place that you had the bacalhau, (it looked delicious) with the musician, looked like a good spot. That cod cake looked delicious!
I'm glad your family enjoyed themselves... I have to say, where it looked like your wife might have hurt her foot/ankle, that's a sketchy place to climb up to get on the wall. I'm very short and I couldn't make it up there on my own. I tried! LOL - I had to use the proper steps to get up there.
    Looking forward to Bombarral. :)

Boa noite, Jen🖐️ We are going to sleep now. It's morning in Canada, I guess, from Bom Dia 😄
Óbidos is a place I didn't mind if it was more busy. The vibe was great, and everybody seemed to enjoy the day there👍 It was a really fun day. I'm definitely going back for the fair in July.
Thank you for the compliments about the drone footage. I try to fly lower (when the birds let me), and I love the footage from that angle. I'm kind of tired of 120-meter shots.
My girls are both afraid of heights, and Óbidos is tricky since the wall to hold on to is only on one side😄😄😄
I saw the pool, but to be honest, it is a bit out of the whole Óbidos style. I'm actually surprised how they got it done.
Overall, it's a very cool place, also for living. But as you know, all those condominiums come with a hefty price tag.
Obrigado. Have a great weekend! 🫡

@@millionplacesoneworld It's 'tarde' for me... well, now it's noite I suppose. We are only a 5 hour difference so when you are heading the bed, it's early evening here.
If you find drone footage from Óbidos, they rarely show the surrounding countryside...
I might have already mentioned that one of my favourite places is outside the walls, on the west side @ 7:32 in the video. I've explored out there when my friend visited from Canada... Sadly it was my last visit to Óbidos that day but most definitely when I'm back I will go there often. The sunset is amazing from that side!!
The good thing about you moving the Silver Coast means you and your girls can visit the castle often... even pick up more Portuguese lessons.
You too, have a wonderful week. Hi to your Girls :)

Fun video! Loved the soundtrack on this one. I can’t wait to visit Óbidos and try its delicious food and local alcoholic beverages. I actually got the chance to try Ginja flavored cider in Wenatchee, Washington. It was delicious, but I’m looking forward to trying out the real thing in Portugal. Thanks for the video, amigo!

Love your videos!! We live near Óbidos and love it there, but there's so much to discover outside of the walls like kite surfing and beach areas!! You said don't go in winter, but actually it's magical in December especially for your daughter!! I will go this July for the medieval festival!!!

@lucchese20 Thank you 👍 We also asked locals and at restaurant, but it's very hard to find something inside the walls. And it's steep too 😄😄😄 That's why I was panting for half of the video 😄

I visited Óbidos 10 years ago and there wasn´t any writings on the walls. My question is why don´t they paint the walls?

    • @millionplacesoneworld
      @millionplacesoneworld  Před měsícem

@lurdesfaro923 I think they repaint the walls from time to time, but someone writes on them again and again. I'm not 100 percent sure, though👌
