I love this band. They were so awesome. There were so many times that I wanted to go see them and now they’re coming to Houston. Not missing them this time! 🥰🥰🥰❤️One of the best 80’s bands.
I just saw them in Cerritos a couple of weeks ago. Most memorable show I have seen in decades. Sitting front row - waring my MWOH t-shirt... dancing the whole time!
This is one of my favourite concert vids of all time. Ivan is on absolute fire, Heaven never sounded better, the variations on songs, the keyboard swells added here and there vs the recorded songs...it is simply amazing. If you haven't, check out their latest Love in the Age of War - freakin' brilliant.
To be fair, Heaven never sounded like anything before this concert considering that I’m pretty sure they first showed the song in this concert before the demo was released in Silver Collection or the Again Part 2 remastered version released.
Wow. Just came across this post, and I actually *was* at this 1985 concert at the Spectrum in Montréal. I got shivers then, and I still get them now...
The melding of their synthpop sound with an upbeat rock heavy sound is insanely catchy and powerful. The energy was non-stop. This truly showed how good a caliber of musicians they really were. There are 2 versions, so to speak, of Men Without Hats. This one and the new wave synth pop band. This one kicks ass. Ivan is a great frontman and underrated singer-songwriter. Anyone ever says their just a new wave synth pop band, show them this concert.
Ivan is on record calling them New Wave not synth pop or Rock. They do add more of a rock sound live. It is possible that they were told to add more Rock live, it might have been out of their control.
This band at the time is greater than most people think they are. The first song blew me away, more rock than synthpop, but a perfect blend. Vocals were great.
@@jquest43 The flesh tones are more of a soft punk band. You are correct though, a lot of New Wave bands do use guitars, but the synths are definitely dominate.
Many an hour spent in the back of my family's Volvo listening to MWH. still sounds so modern and brings back an amazing time in my life as a child. Thank you fro sharing this.
I'm going to see them for the first time in 2 days in Montreal. This is getting me just so excited. What an incredible performance. So underated. One of the greatest new wave band.
If there's one gig I could ever go back in time to have witnessed, it would've been this one (if you're looking down now, sorry Mr. Bowie, you'd have been second). The originality, the energy, the emotion, the innovation...coming from a person in their 20s, this stuff is so damn cool, doesn't take itself too seriously, and yet has some pretty deep lyrical undertones that just talk about how bullshit things are in life. I'm drunk so I'll probs cringe at this in the morning...
Mind. Blown. I only knew these chaps from the safety dance and thought: "oh they'll never be able to pull it off live but I'll give it a go anyway". Ended up listening to the entire concert and well... wow, what a top-class act they were/are!
I love this concert. I always think though, when looking at the crowd, "why on earth aren't they going mental?"..If I had been there I would have gone crazy - I would have had to have been pried off the roof at the end lol
Some people call this band a one hit wonder. Those people are highly underrating this band. Like a lot of bands and performers, they have changed over the years, and I like this video much better than more recent ones I have seen of MWH.
Thanks for posting the full concert, otherwise I'd never know they covered Roxy Music's Editions of You (shows good taste!) right after that fabulous version of I Like
The singer looks like Andrew Eldritch doing a Dave Gahan impersonation. Drummer looks like he's having the time of his life. In fact the whole band are kicking ass.
Love this band..after you get over the first bad song the rest are great...simply couldn't compete w Psychedelic furs & Fiction Factory's far superior versions.
@@jquest43 I remember Psychedelic Furs... used to play 'em when I was DJing. Unfortunately Men Without Hats was after my time or they'd have been regulars in my playlists. I loved this stuff that's on the cusp of new wave and punk. And the man has one helluva voice.
Pensar que el "Spectrum" ya no existe y que será convertido en un edificio de departamentos... y que el "Metropolis" sera renombrado con un nombre tan feo... de una compañia de celulares....

Couldn't have put it better.

If only I could travel back in time & attend this concert in person!! Wow, what a show😍

You lucky!

Шикарно🤘🏻
Excellent energy from "heaven" to "where do the boys go" - bravo from Split, Croatia, EU
Damn i miss those times
This band is completely underrated!
Thx for the upload!
This band at the time is greater than most people think they are. The first song blew me away, more rock than synthpop, but a perfect blend. Vocals were great.
Tom Dee none of their stuff is "synthpop"..All of their stuff is New Wave.
They are New Wave. Not Pop or Rock. Though live they do add more guitar than on their albums.
@@jquest43 EXACTLY. Ivan- himself calls the band New Wave. Now they do add more guitar live, which drowns out the synths a little much.
@@user-ru6mq5sc5n new waveis guitars too, like the fleshtones girl from Baltimore

WOW, WHAT AN EXCEPTIONAL BUNCH OF MUSICIANS!!! I ONLY KNEW THEM DOING THE SAFETY DANCE!!! THEIR PERFORMANCE WAS AMAZING!!! VERY TALENTED!!!
😁😁😁
These guys were great.
The climax to the show couldn't be any better!

“I sing last” sounded amazing. Also really liked the guitar on Antarctica.
Good live band
I'm going to see them for the first time in 2 days in Montreal. This is getting me just so excited. What an incredible performance. So underated. One of the greatest new wave band.
Thanks for calling them New Wave.
Quel show! Heureusement, Radio-Québec était là au Spectrum pour tout enregistrer! I’m in heaven! Thank you so much for keeping the Hats alive!
love this version of Security!
i got the message 25 years and lovin it

I loved his voice during this time. . .
I saw them in Montreal in 1985 at Universitee de Montreal, this guy had an amazing voice.
Well, I guess i've heard MWH last time in '83...

Great concert!
I sing last and I like are two that are needed today

I wish I could have seen them 4 years ago when they came to my hometown! Love these guys. At least someone posted 3 videos.

De lejos la mejor versión de Men Without Hats como banda...
Amazing band & music ☼ thank you!! :)
"La révolution, on l'a dans le..."
"Révoluch'...merde, un glaire...!!!"
Super concert...
Pasan los años, sigo escuchando este LIVE y me sigue pareciendo terrible!
Concuerdo
Terrible?
Pop in 1985: live performances 2,5 times better than studio recordings.
Pop in 2020: live performances 0.25 times better than studio recordings.
Totaly agree.
This is NOT Pop! This is New Wave. This is by Ivan's own admission.
Nop pop you idiot
pop in 2020.. karaoke
divertidisimo!
The Interesting Band & Song and Merry Christmas
best concert evar
Damn things have changed in so little time...
Fantastic voice!
I want to say that some people may not realize there are two different versions of Men Without Hats, and they are both Good!
Buenos recuerdos de una época musica que, por desgracia, ya no volverá
Thanks for posting the full concert, otherwise I'd never know they covered Roxy Music's Editions of You (shows good taste!) right after that fabulous version of I Like
Wow!! Great performance. 😂
Gracias por subir el concierto completo. Super chingon!
I'd love to have hair like his 😫
What an extraordinary buildup to the Safety Dance starting at 49:28 !
It was the 12" version at the time.
You can easily start like that at any electronic music festival today and no one would even know its Man Without Hats!
Wow! just love this guys especially the song "i got the message" - it's mine, not yours - Awesome share thanks
Per me GRANDI!!
Damn no cellphones everywhere! :))
39:20 I like....I like.

Antarctica!a master piece!!
A Environmental Prince of Environmental health .
ganz stark genau wie Gary Nu

wow where was the guitar in the studio version of "Antarctica", this live version blows away the studio version!
JayTyrus The live version of 'Security' is also fantastic in this concert.
La cancion del intro esta buenisima!! Y el resto ni se diga :D

Ivan's The Man, needs a dwarf and chick dancing round but.
What instrument was Ivan playing at 48:15
AIME pour MONTRÉAL
can someone write the set list please? :(

Too bad the "I Know Their Name" segment had to be cut. It was a great rendition.
