    I would also go as far as checking VIN numbers to match the engine because there are so many engines blowing up between 2016-18. Matter of fact I would not buy any of these early models. I'd buy a 2019+ because that engine is the 350R and has been improved not to mention although Ford claims the same power numbers, they actually raised the power output because of the engine improvements done. If you do get a 2016-2018 model as mentioned if the VIN numbers don't match, I'd try to hassle the dealer to lower the price. On a positive side if it has a different engine, you probably got an R model's engine which means it'll be more reliable and more power (so far, they're more reliable but only time will tell).

    I'm starting to move more to the side of buying new when it comes to performance cars. You never know if those 8-15k miles are track miles or if the car has been dogged out. My rule of thumb on cars is to buy them after 3 years, but not with performance cars.

      Naruto Explained I totally agree! These low mileage GT350’s are plentiful in used market. I think they are purchased by people who just can’t make payments. They probably track them and abuse them then dump because they can’t afford them. That’s one theory. New is best plus you have full warranty protection. These 2016 cars are out of warranty, so risky purchase. Plus used ones are very expensive too! Especially with low mileage. Cheaper ones have high mileage, out of warranty, and bigger risks. I’d buy only NEW !

    • @BeanieNinjay0
      @BeanieNinjay0 Před 5 lety +5

      On the other hand, if you find a used one that has no accident history, has a warranty (I think you can get a 7 year warranty on the GT350?) and has no prior history of mechanical issues, the previous owner basically ate the depreciation and stress tested the car for you; meaning if it was going to have issues, it theoretically would’ve showed up with the previous owner. With a new car, yeah, you’re the first owner but you still may get stuck with a defective car or one with issues. Even with a warranty, it’s just a pain in the ass to have to go down to the dealership all the time.

    • @rembo183
      @rembo183 Před 5 lety +1

      Naruto Explained Carmax sells low mileage GT350’s and Porsche’s and also offers good warranties too. In addition, they’ll refund unconditionally within 7days, for any reason you have. Only thing is, these cars are in the low to mid $50’s for 2017/2018 models, which is close to new price:$60. I agree that these cars are complex expensive to fix and better off new with warranty. Used with a warranty is about the same cost as new.

    • @rembo183
      @rembo183 Před 3 lety

      Jhon Smith It wasn’t the engine itself that was overheating. But it was something like the rear differential that would getting too hot . Or it was the lack of an oil cooler. You should Google it sometime. But these problems really only showed up when pushing the 2016 GT350 hard at the track for 30-45 minutes straight. So unless you are tracking it all time I don’t think you would have a problem. But it’s still good to know.

    Joe, I want to thank you for really giving an indepth explanation of this GT350. I just recently purchased a 2016 GT350 with 8700 miles. Not a scratch on it. The previous owner changed over to Ford Performance catch cans, both sides. They also installed the foam in the ground effect behind the front tire. They also installed hood struts. It really show off that Voodoo without the prop rod in the way. They also smoked out the marker lights, WOW! What a looker because it flows with that magnetic gray with the black stripes down the middle. The only thing it has is that little gap at the back bumper by the tail lights. It is the Tech Pack but I never intended to take it to the track. I just love tooling around town with it. Maybe one day here I'll get the coolers for it, especially on the hot summer days. For the GT350, did Ford make design changes to the 5.2 motor? I read that they did and am trying to confirm this, and specifically what the changes are.
    The GT350 is on my list of potential next cars but I'm leery about the blown motor issues I've read about. If design changes were done to enhance the reliability, I might become a buyer.
    Thanks for your input.

      Carmax has low mileage ones plus you can get an excellent warranty too. After buying one if you find there’s a problem after driving within one week you can get total refund. Safest way to buy used gt350 is Carmax then take to your mechanic if issue they’ll fix or just give you refund.

    I was just talking with my friends about the GT350. We all love the GT350 and all want one, but we were basically saying why buy a new GT350 when a better car, the C8 Vette, is coming soon? The GT350’s price just isn’t worth it anymore. Yeah I know the GT350 is more special, which is why it’s so good, but the Vette is just waaaaaaay better in every category, for around the same price NEW. So I said I would get a GT350 used, but I would only get it if it was under $40k. Anything over $40k, it’s just not worth it anymore. I’d rather spend another $20k for a new C8 Vette. It worth it

    Thank you so much for this video. I hadn’t seen it until now. I will very soon be in the market for a used Mustang GT (can’t afford a GT 350). One of my concerns has been, what should I check for when buying one used. You answered all my questions. I usually buy new so never really inspected a used car. I want to buy a 2016 because my first grandson was born in 2016. My intention is to baby it and just take it out of the garage once in a while so I can gift it to him in the future. Thank you again.
