  • Weekend G.O. had 2 trains running around the South Ferry loop after discharging at Rector (bc they don't trust the 2 train C/Rs not to accidentally open up the rear 5 at South Ferry lol). This was my first time at the loop in recent history, and I think I may have left with some minor hearing damage lmao. Enjoy =)

Fan Railer: The 2 trains are not "untrusted"; the R142 door placement does not match the gap fillers at South Ferry loop

Christ, I can't wait until the new SF station reopens later this year. That screeching is disturbing.

I absolutley love this Old Station more than the new one, but i get why they wanna avoid (2) train C’R’s from using this station as a terminal, from what i heard, they are unfamiliar with operations at this station.

Omg I can't believe how noisy this was because of the loop tracks they make noise

So what you're saying is that the NTTs apparently cannot be trusted at short stations like this one, right? By the way, I recently visited this station, and it is LOUD AS BALLS over there! Planning to visit the station one more time before it shuts down.

If there was the same for the W, or any INT/BMT line, it would be a nightmare

  • @Elevatorelectricgate

Both 1 and 6 trains make loud squeaking noises.

Hope you enjoyed it (at least recording there) despite the majestic noise lol. When I used to work in Whitestone, Queens, I would take the QM2 bus to 42nd St Bryant Park, walk to the Times Square station & take the 1 down to South Ferry. Then from there, take the R train at Whitehall to go home.

What's the difference if the 2 trains open the rear 5 at south ferry? As long as they discharge and move everybody to the front at Rector, everything should be aiight, its current setup with the (1) anyways, they have a few guys stationed at Rector street just to tell passengers to move up.

Still one of my favorite stations, hey fanrailer any idea what the mta is going to do with this station?

True about that hearing loss. It's literally impossible to stand there for too long to record anything. Only other place as bad as this is that curve going north from GC on Lexington.
