  • This scrumptious Honey Pecan Smoked Salmon is one of my wife’s and my favorite recipes. We enjoy this for at-home-date-nights regularly, as it’s fancier than my usual BBQ recipes. I use two of my best-selling rubs and one of the best condiments to create a flavor profile with pizzazz.

    INGREDIENTS:
    • Salmon (approximately 2 lbs)
    • Olive Oil
    • Heath Riles BBQ Honey Rub
    • Heath Riles BBQ Pecan Rub
    • Mike's Hot Honey (or any hot honey of your choice)
    DIRECTIONS:
    1. Get your Traeger grill, or grill of choice, up to temp of approximately 275º
    2. Place salmon on butcher paper
    3. Coat your salmon in olive oil
    4. Season your salmon with Heath Riles BBQ Honey and Pecan rubs
    5. Place salmon with butcher paper on your grill for approximately 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 117º or 118º
    6. Glaze salmon with Mike's Hot Honey, or honey of your choice.
    7. Allow salmon to continue cooking until internal temperature of 125º is reached
    8. Once your salmon is off the grill, let it rest for approximately 10 minutes.

    That rub combination is killer on poultry and all things pork too! I love me some salmon with Heath BBQ Pecan rub but with Honey Chipotle on top. 👊

    Why not smoke it lower and slower? Would it not take on more smoke flavor?

    My probe says fish is well done at 145 for MediumI understand to each their own for doneness Well done is 160. What’s your read??

    Hmmmm, I do not mind a hint of sweetness but the true taste of the product still has to come through. Honey rub together with that much real honey will not do for me but hey, we all have our preferences 🤘

      Honey Rub isn't overly sweet. The Hot Honey gives it a little kick. It didn't come out sweet
