Well frankly speaking, no one cares about data privacy. The threat actually it posses is that CCP passed a law under which every company headquartered in China need to share the data when asked by government. Another law under which anyone who speaks against china is a nation traitor ans should be punished even if the person is foreigner. The question is how CCP will know that someone outside of China is speaking against the CCP ?? You know the answer.

ARGUMENT: "BUT China banned some of our stuff like Facebook and CZcams!
COUNTER ARGUMENT: The reason China banned them is because those companies refused to follow China's regulations, whereas the US banned Huawei and Tiktok, etc, with ZERO proof of any wrong doing. Meanwhile the US is the biggest spy. For example, German intelligence found 10 back doors in CISCO products, while they found ZERO in Huawei's. The US wants freedom while they are enforcing anti freedom and censorship at the same time. xD
EDIT: Watch Nathan Rich's "Why China banned Facebook" video for an in depth explanation of some of the regulations China asked these companies to follow. Actually NOT as draconian you'd expect.

The main reason people supported the tiktok ban in india is due the extremely cringey stuff and people would go to all lengths to gain a celebrity status and become recognisable. and it is so addictive that people are too busy scrolling down than take a shit or something else. The thing that indian parents are always afraid of is addiction of any and all kind except generic studies. So majority population didn't fight for it to stay instead thought better let it go before they once again fall into the loop of scrolling down.

because at least from my extremely laymans understanding there are several countries that share a lot of their spy network with the US and vice versa. There is also a ton of cooperation between the western countries even the ones that dont straight up share their spy information with each other. For example just about any european can make an app and its not like the US is going to arrest them on suspicion. False. Vine failed because it followed the old style "follow" and "timeline" model. What made TikTok revolutionary is AI based recommendations, a UI build from the ground up for a mobile experience (full screen videos instead of scrolling through posts like a website on a desktop), tools built from the ground up to shoot and edit videos directly on mobile phones extremely quickly and easily and deep integration in commerce( in Douyin). It's completely different from Vine. Byte is now copying TikTok by copying all of the above mentioned points.
