      I totally do. In fact I bought my Samsung just because of that (in fact I would prefer OLED for almost everything else). Not because of reflected lights (which I can control) but because I don't want to see my room reflected in dark scenes. What is the point of having deeper blacks if I can see myself reflected in the TV screen ?

    The LG CX always seems to be like a literal mirror for any light source but on places like RTINGS it rates very well for anti-glare (9.3/10) which baffles me. I finally ordered my TV and chose the LG CX, overall I think it will probably be the best experience (for me and my gaming needs), but I have to admit the glare does bug me. I have pretty bright room during the day, my curtain is white and sunlight seems to shine straight through it. I can obviously switch off my house light if need be for evening viewing, but worst case scenario when my TV arrives, if this glare is a problem for me I'll just go buy blackout curtains/blinds and solve that problem. Still interesting to see though, I think the Sony X900H does a great job on anti-glare.

  • @blk9ight23
    @blk9ight23 Před 3 lety +9

    This was very helpful! I think the X900H was most acceptable, but all will have some level of annoying glare. I think I'll just save myself ~$1000 focusing my decision on glare and look more on picture sharpness and features. I have my balcony door (with floor to ceiling windows) perpendicular to my TV. So my biggest issue is natural sunlight in the daytime hours (all else is fine). Any rec's? Otherwise, I will have to get up and close the blinds in the AM (aint nobody got time for that) : /

    • @willdejong7763
      @willdejong7763 Před 3 lety +2

      I’ve also got a CX, have it in my living room. For me the glare is distracting when it is bright outside and I have any of the blinds open. Closing the blinds helps a lot, but enough light leaks in that I still prefer to watch in the evening. My hope is that LG will add the nano-texture anti glare treatment that is currently on Apple’s top end monitors sometime in the future. But don’t get me wrong, I have no regrets. With the room dark the CX is amazing. It is the best TV I have ever seen in person.

    Thanks for the video. I would love to go with a OLED but my room is definitely to bright. I was excited for the new Samsung Neo Qleds but the reviews have been pretty bad so far so I'm really not sure what to do. The Sony X900H looked ok in the video and I would choose that over the extra money for the samsung Q9 with all of it's problems. Thanks again.

    Samsung makes the industry leading anti glare screens. The Q80T and above will all have that technology. For a 65" starting you at 1700. A fairly bright tv, full array local dimming. And beautiful color. If glare is a problem. Start there.

    Fomo I have a unusual question.
    Devices.... plug them into the AV receiver and use 1 HDMI cable to connect to the TV/ARC.
    Or, plug everything into the TV and use the ARC port to connect to the receiver?
    One issue I run into.
    I plug everything into my receiver.
    So when I play games, I have to change my TV manually to games mode.
    Then when I change over to my Apple TV. I have to manually change my TV back to image processing.
    As the TV doesn’t detect the receiver changing ports.
    What’s the best method and why?
    Thanks so much.
    Also. When listing/discussing TVs would love it if you could throw in the Australian model names also.

    Reflecting light isn't my problem since both my lamp and window are behind my t.v and I have curtains. The issue is if you are watching a dark scene or parts of the scene are dark you can see reflections in the dark parts on new TVs. I noticed this a couple of years ago when I went to best buy and was looking at the newer TVs trying to decide if I wanted to upgrade to 4k. However every single one of them had this annoying refection/mirror problem when the TV was showing anything other than a bright green field. So I just kept using my ~2010 TV I mean there isn't anything wrong with it yet, it can't do 4K and isn't a smart TV but I don't use/need those features anyway.
    I have the same issue with laptops, but I just buy a matte screen protector for those. It's a bit trickier for TVs though. If mine ever breaks I might just have to go looking at the pawn/resale/thrift stores around me for a similar replacement.

It seems like a hand shaking issue. i have approached Samsung and Sony but they gave the run-around. While the amp works really great, I have had to send the sound from tv to amp via optical lead only because of the blinking screen while plugged vis arc port. Can you shed any light on this . I can't justify buying a large screen TV the glare, even on the better ones is terrible. My computer monitor and 24" TV blow any of these TVs away with their anti-glare. I do have a 40" TV which I am OK with because of it's positioning but the glare, in the same room as my computer monitor is so obvious and I've done similar tests to this, with LED lights. It just seems that when it comes to large screen TVs...shiny screens are the order of the day.

    Welcome to the video that shows the reason why all "super ultra deep contrasty black" OLED TVs are pointless. This is a major dealbreaker for me. If I have to have a perfectly black room to enjoy glare free watching, then why not just go with a projector instead? I'm completely over the whole OLED thing when projectors can show more of the Rec2020 spectrum than pretty much ANY OLED can.....but oled's can do deep black colors.....I'd rather have all the other colors instead of just the one.
    I thought the point of a Flat Panel TV was for daylight viewing, but that's not even possible with these. In fact you can't have a lamp on behind you because it will show up as a reflection on the screen in your dark scene.

    @Stop the FOMO A few years ago I heard some disturbing things about LG OLED panels. That they were prone to image burn-in and that LG would not cover a replacement under warranty. This has given me a good deal of trepidation regarding the company as a whole. Is this an issue to be concerned about when purchasing an OLED panel from LG or anyone else?
