  • Greenworks 40V 20 Inch Electric Mower: An Honest Review
EDIT As of 5/9/23, the battery is no longer sufficient for running this on a single charge and even the 2nd battery shown in the video isn't enough to do both the front and the back yards in one go...so I have ordered another of the larger 4.0 heavier duty batteries at a cost of about $120 from Amazon. If I need to purchase a battery every few years but the lawn mower runs as well as it does now, I can live with that.

great review. I just got this mower & blower. had the weed eater already which is why I stayed with the 40v platform. mower, weed eater and also snow shovel for my deck. my back yard is smaller than yours so should be good to go 2 cuts on one charge!

I have noticed a number of electric mower owners only make half a mower cut at a time. Taking about twice as long to cut their lawn.

I feel like this takes me about just as long as my old gas mower did.

is that a Brushless motor? Sounds like it. That seems pretty much the same as the 21 inch 40 volt mower that I got. yeah it says BRUSHLESS on the front. So your motor will last almost twice as long.

I just bought this same model and mine keeps cutting off? I bought the floor model so maybe that's why?

It could be. How long have you had it? I’m now in my second mowing season and mine is still good. I purchased the three year guarantee with mine just in case.

The 6 amp batteries last a lot longer. Also if you use a lower amp battery then if you try to recharge the battery when it's still hot (right after it ran out) then it won't recharge well. So make sure to cool the battery down before recharging but if it's a 6 amp battery then it shouldn't be a problem - it won't get as hot.

I just bought one of those. It arrived yesterday. I bought it because my local commy-town doesn't want us using gas-powered lawn mowers anymore.

I like mine but this year I’ll need to get a new battery

@@vaiisking Do you have any idea as to what the life-time expectancy of those 40 volt batteries are?

@@markmolinari777 no sorry I don't, but I can tell you that mine lasted about 2 years effectively and now I need a new heavy duty one :( The mower itself is still awesome and does the job, but the battery is lacking.

I think 3 years. I just ordered a new one and will swap it out with my 20v one on the second charger I have in the video.

How much is a new battery?

Don’t throw away your old mower. Unless you enjoy spending several hundred $ on new batteries every few years. I have one.

Yeah battery may end up being an issue
