My grandfather passed down his 20,16, and 12 gauge Ithaca 37 feather lights. Beautiful guns.
My grandfather just passed his 37 down to me. What a really nice looking shotgun. I only plan on using lighter load for trap shooting, but that longnecked beauty has put a lot of wild game on the table growing up.

Ruyguy. I agree with you. My most used Ithacas are the newer 28 gauge & one older 20 gauge. You wanna see a long long range harvester of rabbits? Circa 1997 Turkeyslayer 12 gauge, plopped one with its extra full turkey choke at 58 paces. Low brass #4. Yeah. I held one front sight high.
And my favorite gun for carry amongst black bears, is a 12 gauge circa 1990 DSPS. Took one wild boar at 70 yards. Using a single Brenneke Classic slug 2 3/4inch. Of course using its LAPD style wedge shape rearsight & correct holdover.
Wonderful shotguns to fill your uplands larder & security in the wilderness too.
My father in law and brother in law used Ithaca Model 37 pump shotguns for years; 16 gauge and 20 gauge respectively. When I was shopping for a shotgun back in 1982 I took their advice and bought an Ithaca Model 37 in 12 gauge. Mine's the 'Basic' model with satin finish walnut stock and parkerized metal parts. I had a 'Polychoke' adjustable choke installed (exactly like the one on the gun in the video). Best firearm investment I ever made. My father in law's Model 37 (circa 1955) still functions like new and is still in the family passed on to my oldest daughter. We consider it a family heirloom.
I have a Ithaca Model 37 my uncle gave to me new around 1962. It is a 16 gauge with a full choke. The only thing I don’t like is that it has a very tight pattern. Otherwise, I love this gun and have cared for it. Years ago I looked into getting an Improved cylinder barrel. Ithaca told me at the time I would have to ship them the shotgun since this production run had the barrels hand fitted. May contact them again to see if it would be possible now.
Older Ithaca Model 37's the barrels were 'custom fitted' to the receiver and were not owner-interchangeable. Don't know when they switched to the easily interchangeable barrel system but I can easily swap out barrels on mine. Ithaca Gun Company is now located in Ohio don't know if they still take in older Model 37's for work.

I own a 37 in 16 gauge, made in 1954. Would love to own a vintage 12 gauge one day.
The 16 gauge is more collectible- “hits like a 12 but carries like a 20”…

Did you notice were the spent shell husks did they first bounce ??? ( Note: on grass/leaves they will not bounce ) ... and if you are a lefty ... there is the (2) best reasons for a Model 37 ....

Just bought one for 100$ same choke and engraving did I do well? What’s it worth in todays market

Johnsmith. Compared to what? A fist sized rock? I own ten of them. The only one parts failure was a circa 1971 20 gauge Featherlight. The previous owners son used it extensively for waterfowl in BC.
I owned it after them. After five years of rabbit & grouse hunting, one shell stop became weak then broken. Part replaced. Fault free since then.
Hey Russell , I have an old 16 gauge model 37 featherlight with a shinny reciever , I can't find any information on this style reciever , do you know of this type ?
