    Update after our Atlantic Crossing - we're currently enjoying the Caribbean after landing in St. Lucia with the ARC2021. We actually won 1st place in the ARC2021 Multihull Division 🏆
    We had zero issues on board. Not even a chafed line. We did sail the boat at 90% though and we may had a bit of luck.

    Thank you for this review it was very well done. For a first YT video the filming and editing were really good. I have been considering the Nautitech Open 40 and the Excess 11 looks like a promising second option. I look forward to your post Atlantic update. Fair winds!!

    Thanks, Marco and Lizzy, for this great video and all the informations. Just back from Athens, where we sailed the Excess 11 the first time, we can highly confirm your determinations, except maybe the storage room in the gally ;-). So we will consider your informations when we order our own Excess 11 soon. All the best to you, guys!

    Hi folks. Nice honest video, thanks. I saw this video shortly after it came out on YT. Now its more than 2 years later (and glad to see you still haven't become another boring YT sailing channel 🤣) You've completed an Atlantic crossing and I presume you're still cruising? Do you still feel the same about your boat? Many things you'd change? Appreciate an update!!

  • @pgcotta

    Nice video! It could be interesting complete this analysis with a second video making a comparison about the costs (lagoon, nautitehc, fountaine p)? pros/cons and consideration about this specific topic. Also including something about your life, many people are considering to change their life and use the boat as a first or second house. thanks

    Good Review guys, I like the fact you have sailed the boat :) a lot better than reviews of boats just sitting at a dock. One question would you rate this boat easy to sail single handed and what's the best speed you've had from her at sail ?

    Hi both, I just wanted to thank you both for this excellent and informative video. I only just found the Excess brand by following my nose from your appearance with Great Circle. Anyhow, I love the look of the Excess 11 as a mono sailer looking for a cat but one that ‘sails’. Hopefully you might find time to do an update after your Atlantic crossing. Looking at the tracker you have some weather, and also some boat speed so it would be very interesting to hear how you got on. Thanks again, Malc

    Thanks for this video, I have been looking for a video like this. I also saw a glimpse of your boat on Great Circle channel. I have couple of questions if you can answer. What solar panels did you put on the back and the roof? Also can you tell me what would be the biggest dingy you could fit in between the 2 hulls. I know they have an option for a Highfield 290 but could you fit a 3m or a 310?

    • @sailingbombarda9759
      @sailingbombarda9759  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey! Sorry for the delay in responding, didn’t see it before. Here we go: yes we sailed together with Greatcircle for some days. Super nice people and they helped us a bit when setting up our boat so we’re thankful for that. We have 3x330 watts LG rigid panels on the davits and 14x Sunbeam Tough Black Series panels on the roof. 3 Victron MPPTs to control these groups. A high field cl310 would indeed fit but doesn’t come excess branded (we looked into ordering one ourselves, but stuck with the one from the factory). Note; the CL290 can carry up to20hp which we wanted. So for us there wasn’t a reason to go for a CL310.

    • @emirruzdic2597
      @emirruzdic2597 Před 2 lety +3

      @@sailingbombarda9759 Well guess what? I just ordered the Excess 11. 2 Year waiting list but I can wait. Thanks for the info. The reason for the 310 is the center console which you can't fit on a 290, 310 is smallest. Sunbeam Tough looks like good panels just need to find somewhere in Australia that sells them.

    Great Boat. I was interested in buying one. But XCS increased the price in the last two years by 10% each year. So unfortunatelly i will have to stick to the second hand boat market. And there are not many XCS11 thgere...

    Hi guys, still around? Finally I decided for the Excess 11, after big battle with Nautitech 40 open, which is more fancy but expensive as well. I’ll be sailing with base in Rhodes Greece. I do not have much experience in sailing so if you are around with you Excess let’s keep in touch to share experiences.

    Thank you for the review. That got me closer to chartering one... but you say it is 220 cm in the shower? I am 200 cm tall and I just asked the charter company - they say it is generally less than 200 cm headroom so I will not fit. I have not been able to find viable data on headroom online. Have you measured say galley, cabin, head and shower headrooms?

    I can't imagine a nespresso doing the job?
    Still laughing, the factory watermaker install require you to get in the engine room to operate it????
    They sould hurry and find a extention kit so that can be operated from the nav-table :-)

      We started our lithium upgrade and 5000 watt inverter project to cater for a La Marzocco… That we can run the a/c from the battery bank is just a side effect :) Agree on your comment on the watermaker. We have a Zen50, looking back at it I would go for the Zen 100. It’s still quite noisy so ideally you’d run it as short as possible.
