Why did at the start you called white's play of leaving SA and moving to NA a 'low quality play'? Isn't leaving a low -generating continent for one that generates more troops the correct play for him?
Did you watch the same video as the rest of us? He complimented white on moving out of SA into Europe.
There are fundamentally two ways to play the SA position.
Stack in Brazil and or Venezuela plus stack in Asia
Or
All troops in SA and start a war with NA
The second option is still viable but of lower quality because at some point the NA player has nothing to lose and can suicide. The way this game played was ideal. The SA position didn't ruin my (NA) game, so I wasn't forced to ruin theirs either and we were able to work together successfully.

@@PandaMasked If I understood correctly, I think your question was more oriented towards “Why would using S.A. as a pivot to take NA be a bad play?” which, depending on the other players troop distribution, is not a bad play (in my opinion).
In the video, Pete was referencing the S.A. play-style he explained above-which may not have been clear with his wording during the video :)
Solid question, but given Pete’s propensity to (rightfully) hate on S.A. players with NA aggression, I took that context to believe he was referencing the play-style :)

Red really showing some big balls energy here. Instead of the usual boring meta stuff he goes for some well calculated bullying and aggression but also keeping loyality to his best ally in Pete. Securing 2nd against two much better positioned players.
Love to see players like him! They really bring fresh air into the game by bringing movement to the board unlike the usual "I can wait 500 years. You others attack first." Waiting contest.

40 minute video is fine, when he posts those 2 hour plus ones I usually have to tap out after 30-40 minutes because at the point it just kind of stalemates for the rest of the game and the initial throws of the game are done at this point.
Translation: I have a short attention span and I'm unable to wait a couple more seconds...

I wouldn't call me willing to watch up to an hour of gameplay footage a short attention span, I just once the game seems to balance out after 40 minutes in a 2 or that TEN HOUR GAME he posted, I just can't stay invested. It feels like a badly edited movie, where they just have a bunch of filler in the middle. It just doesn't make for good watchable content. It's totally not his fault though. @@EdgeworthsSugardaddy
The perfect red team up. The Aussie bonus police. White and yellow starting the deadliest trap, then you and red following with two large asia stacks. Textbook classic fixed. When everyone is aggressive and knows how to play, you can get some truly awesome games.
That coordination was so smooth, I'm certain white reported you two for cheating! 😂 if I were white, I'd have assumed it was the same guy on two devices

The psycho homie showing loyalty to a the more disciplined high rank player is a solid strategy for a second place.
Yep. This is how I manage to win a large portion of my games. Make a strong alliance with someone and have them realize that their best bet is to take 2nd or risk getting 3rd for a slight chance to get 1st. I almost always punish betrayal. The best feeling is getting betrayed by an ally, punishing them, having them get 3rd, and then still get 1st despite being the weakest player in a 3-player endgame.
Not exactly this situation, but today, I played a super long game of classic fixed (around 2.5 hours). I had Europe, good homies with the Africa player all game. One player botted, ended up card blocking sporadically in Asia and NA. SA player just skipped and held his bonus for most of the game. No one was willing to kill the bot, and the Aus player was guarding the kill. Eventually, once I had a big enough troop lead, I managed to kill the bot. The Aus player retreated from NA, and I took the bonus, which my homie in Africa seemed cool with. The Aus player botted around this point. The SA player amassed his troops in Venezuela, so I backed off, basically offering him NA. Instead of taking a better bonus, he decided to slam his troops into one of my big stacks in Iceland, putting the Africa player in a pretty significant lead. At this point, he betrays me, not letting me have a bonus, so I don't let him take his Africa bonus. The SA player decides to turtle in Aus with his few remaining troops and gets killed by the bot. I realize that my best bet is to actually do the same but with a much larger stack in Siam. My former homie tries to fight the bot and get a bonus in NA, but fails. The bot just keeps slamming into him. I just take my bonus, stack on Siam, and skip every round. Once I take a significant enough lead, I plow through the bot and kill my former homie and still have enough to clean up the bot's troops in a couple rounds.
Ultimately, the guy got 2nd because there was just us and a bot. His attempt to get 1st was logical, but the execution wasn't there, and he prolonged the game significantly when he could have just secured 2nd a good half hour earlier.
What an EXCELLENT match. A real rare one, they are usually just decent.

That said, you have played WAY more hours of Risk than I have. As I have mentioned in other comments, I started playing heavier wargames back in the late 1980's. Have you ever considered playing other strategy games or wargames on Twitch, as a "trial balloon?"

I’ve had this maybe twice, where a player just decides to do everything they can for you to win and they take 2nd. It’s kinda weird, feels like cheating.
@@JeatBunkiei agree, once i played a game where two players from same country not even once they attacked one troop of each other, which for me was weird and i felt like they were really close! one of them suicided so that the other wins! and i want to mention one of them was the host, and before starting the host kicked one out so that the other guy can join !! it was OBVIOUS ..

I Went to see Bill Burr on tour in Saratoga last year and he got booed big time! some stuff was funny but it was awesome when the crowd booed when he made a libtard joke. He was in a rural area and the venue was outdoors at the awesome ampitheater and after everyone booed he said he forgot he was in the middle of the woods, which he was.

I don't understand Purple's 'break everyone' play, what did they think was going to happen?
They knew what was going to happen, that's why he said "fu" to whom he could, just like Peteman explained right after.
If it's done right, you can use it to level the troop counts by keeping the others off bonus, but you have to be aggressive and leave large enough stacks in their bonuses or move your entire stack in and make it a no bonus game. What purple did was set himself up to get targeted by everyone else.
they don't even have the troops to bully white, how did they think they could do the same to yellow as well? Probably never get an answer but I would love to know if there was a reason other than bad play @@Sputz032

New player here. May i ask why is Green's play bad? It seemed to me that Green evened out his troops so that the others wont be tempted to attack his troops for cards. Thanks in advance!
Fixed wd is a positional game. You want to put yourself in a spot where you can generate extra troops to overwhelm your opponents. Greens play leaves them trapped in a useless part of the board so they stay behind and the splitting stacks means they can't even capitalize on opportunities as well if the board shakes up. It's about the worst possible thing you can do short of slamming your troops into someone else for no reason.
@@TheKillPeteStrategy Hi pete! thanks for the explanation! I saw a couple more of your Fixed Friday vids since i made that comment - those matches helped me understand what you explained above. I might not have watched enough, but here is my takeaway on classic fixed strategy so far (do beg your correction if I misread the matches): Step 1: read the map to see your best continent, and those of the other players --> Step 2: Try to get out of other people's way, while trying to get to yours using alliances or cooperations --> Step 3: guard continent (if applicable) else try to consolidate and minimise losses if no continent --> Step 4: Lump into 1 main and 1 secondary stack --> Step 5: watch for or create opportunities involving smashing your main in for a kill, comms with your allies, take cards (if applicable), and other end game matters. Looking forward to hearing your feedback on this reflection!
