As a worshipper of the God that is Neil Young, I've never heard anyone who could cover a Neil song well. until I heard Ray Lamontagne. this guys voice is just incredible. he could sing the back of a cereal box and give you goosebumps.
Ray LaMontagne is so talented and has such an amazing voice, I was glad to hear this :) I love Neil Young, so I accidentally ran across this :) LOVE IT!
Not too familiar with our boy Ray, he's an intense lad! He certainly nails this song! He looks to be about the same age as Neil was when this came out, '71 or so. He captures the culture that was happening back then, sensuality wasn't looked down upon then. Man it was a great time to be alive! Right before Exile on Main St. And right when Joni Mitchell (best lyricist ever) was doing her best work. Talk about sensuality!
Ray should release a double album of covers. He rolls out two or three covers during a tour and they're usually great. Behind That Locked Door, In A Station, When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, and the list goes on. Wishful thinking on my part though.
I really thought he did a nice rendition and was really enjoying it, until he came to the bridge part. To me, that ruined the song since, it was a completely different chord progression and melody than the original. Nice vocal though.
Thank God for Ray LaMontagne , what a gift he is

Plenty of great jammers and fireside pickers out there. Some of the epics never get published. Just don't play... never mind :)
I think Jimmy's version is better than this and Neil's. :-) (IMO)

One of my favorite songs ever. He does this so incredibly well!

That was lush perfection. Ray is the greatest singer/songwriter of the new millenium!

Nobody ever covered Neil better.

DoItYourself his own music is better though!
@WHO9ER you're right!!
Imagine if Neil Young and Bob Dylan could sing... The world would be a better place
WoW :-)))
Does anyone know where to find the live cover he did on VH1 😭 it’s like it doesn’t exist anymore
good
@edgeleader corrected.
Sounds like Damien Rice singing Neil Young songs. Pretty good.
the voice of ray is almost the same as neil , good cover
WHAT
Similar!
both are great. your comment though, is not.

I think this is a really great cover, someone mentioned his voice is syrupy, rubbish

Not as good as the original, but his voice is great....not one of Neil's more popular songs but it has always been one of my favorites....
@RayAndPES So ummm... why does it say "New Song"??! Isn't that more than a bit misleading?
Whitney Road does a nice cover, check it out
I feel like the verses are better than the chorus? Like it in general though
Would you like to hear my cover and maybe give me your opinion?

you are not being fair men.....Neil voice....is just from Neil...u can´t expect someoneelse to nail the song :p
John Mcauley of deer tick does the best cover imo
Ruben Guzman
Will have to give it a listen. Thank you.
You're out of your mind. This is a great version though.
Not as good as the original of course, but he does it justice
good, là au moins une belle reprise
We're all entitled to our own opinions I guess. But really?
Nice but will just never beat the original

NO YOU DIDNT....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
great song - but the voice is too affected.
