I can't get over how this version of Orthax looks. He's so freakin' well designed!
It's even better than on some official arts. By that design I know that Orthax is natural demon, not some dark spirit or non-material creature, it's literally demon.
I can’t move on from Percy and the demon Orthax! This is by far the best character of all times.
I love how percy is so calm and unphased after almost killing his friends and blasting a giant hole in his own hand to prevent that
It's a world where mental domination et demonic possession is current enough for being a ruesday for an aventurer so...

@@bitter-bit Not really, it would make sense if he was less phased than even an average adventurer, but he doesn't seem to care that he almost killed his second family with his own hands, with excruciating pain way surpassing what he felt during his childhood. But he's not cold, as would be expected if he was just too hellbent on his mission to let that stop him. He's cheery, which the scene really needed, but doesn't make sense. He has been through a lot, but not even the slaughter of his family goes as far as this moment does
I absolutely loved the look of horror on Delilah's face. That is something i very much love when i see it in entertainment. What i mean is the fact that Delilah saw so much fucked up shit, she delved into dark magic but when she saw a literal incarnation of evil and darkness infront of her she was afraid. As if she was an amateur, sure she was a follower of some evil shadowy undead thing, but this was the real shit, an actual demon. An evil being completely on a different level.
Oh, what the Briarwoods actually served was far, far worse. But wasn't all in-your-face about it like Orthax.
That said, there's also a rather important reason she was scared of what Percy - or rather, Orthax - was intending to do.

@@MatthewZuhlsdorf Scanlan doesn’t really have immense hate in him, how could Orthrax possess or make a deal with someone who isn’t vengeful and full of hatred? And he was in his weakest form once in the gun, so I doubt Orthrax could actually do anything.

My guess to why that worked, is that the deal was orthax gets the souls of those the pepper box kills but it shall never harm percy himself. Look at the many attemps at the early pepper box that thing miss fired so many times

It's a clever play on words that foreshadows the things to come.
I really hope that orthax isn't really dead, he was very sinister and a great villain, hope he come back to get revenge on percy and maybe percy can destroy him forever.
Me too!!! This scene is one of my fave because I love characters who have a dark side to them. I don’t know why.
In D&D most demons can only be truly killed on their home plane (ie The Abyss). The gun was the link between Orthax and Percy.

Just because he got rid of the object and which it possessed doesn't mean that the demon itself is gone, they didn't get rid of it by holy means much like Venom it'll be back!
This entire scene was SOO INTENSE!!! AND I LOVED IT

@@battlebuddy4517 What is defined as "normal person" in this world though. Being under the influence of a demonic force leaves traces, Percy keeps abilities he learned during that time. Mechanically the character was not any different after losing that gun, minus yknow, being actually posessed. That's kinda "normal" in this world, and he's just as cool by my standards.

Circumvent Orthax being a problem: Grog snaps Delilah’s neck, now the curse is weaker since Percy’s kill got stolen again
The list doesn't end at the original 5 names. Cassandra's name got added to it and anyone who stood in Orthax's way got added. Orthax or any demon has an unquenchable thirst for souls. Percy would've been Orthax's slave for as long as possible.
@@AlasdairGR You make a fair point, yet it would’ve short circuited Percy a lot quicker and forced him to take a look at his situation. Also, Scanlan could’ve used his magic hand to halt Percy’s arm, seeing as he managed to pull Delilah around.
That being said….I still prefer the canon events. Way more impactful, way more heartfelt, and I’m almost positive that the party had thought of these things during the event and made rolls that either failed or led to Matt effectively killing those avenues (I’m gonna guess the former more than the latter since Matt seems more than likely to play into the party’s attempts more than anything else)

Ok what is with this constant trope in fantasy shows where the main (or one of the main characters) gets possessed? I'm not complaining! I think it's super cool for the good guy to go evil but I just think it's weird that this happens in almost every show! XD
I mean it's based on their D&D campaign, with each character having a full backstory for the DM to go off of. So if something were to happen, like possession, then it's due in part from the actions of the players and the DM taking those actions to a logical conclusion.
@@kpny8484 Taliesin didn't even know about Orthax. He wanted a Briarwood family to take revenge on for murdering his family. All other details, including vampirism, necromancy, and Orthax, are Matt's design.
@Hazearil Im aware, i just wanted to give the base information without possible spoilers to the show.
Back in Ye Olden Days "possession by unseen forces" was a way to explain mental disorders or other unsavory behaviors... and that trope just gets regurgitated through the ages and tales humans tell each other. Since it's heavy on the mysticism, it's no wonder it works well in fantasy, and as a dramatic device forces characters to act outside of their norms... especially when it's a direct conflict with a character's morals. It's juicy drama.

I don't believe Percy forgave Delilah. For all he did was stop Orthax from controlling him. And besides he knew that Delilah can't be allowed to live. Not after what she and Sylas did to Percy and Cassandra.
Out of curiosity, was that YEET Scanlan did with the gun in the actual campaign or was that a change for the sake of the show?
From what I heard he did toss it in acid but he wasn't immediately proven right afterward.
It did actually happen; but Percy was holding it so Scanlan had to charm him with the Friends spell into handing it over. Then he tossed it in the acid, but not very far since he's just a gnome. When the spell wore off Percy actually tried to reach in and grab it and they had to restrain him 😆

You do realize that it was a demon possessing him right ? If he had kept it, he would have ended up dead or worse. This is based on a D&D game the cast had which is on CZcams btw. Also Percy is a lot more than some demon possessed killer and he is FAR better off with The List having been melted in acid.
