The regular Astray Red Frame is a much better kit. Slightly cheaper, too.

HG G-Self is looking pretty rad.
To be honest, your paintwork on this kit actually wasn’t that bad at all. :) You filled in all of the grooves and panel lines, making the details really pop, and the paintwork on the demon shield was also really good. :) I give your work two thumbs up! ^u^

Hey I bought this kit a few weeks back and I was wondering how you managed to keep the joints so secure. Mine always seem to fall out of place. Also what paints would you recommend for the detailing of the figure?
Ironically this was my first kit and I broke the shield peg within the first day

I actually painted mine purple, the red looks ok imo but i need to differentiate between the other astrays and i think purple is a nice contrast
hopefully it gets released again as a rg :'(

I should have watch this review before I built it. Truer words never spoken "Not recommended for beginners" and I made the mistake of making this my very first build. I'll have to buy another one now that I have more experience to make up for the first time. The Sengoku is also my favorite Gunpla so I must atone for my mistakes

Pyro Volcanus to each their own. I personally think it's a piece of shit that came alive. And my first kit was the Lunagazer.
Built both mg and hg, the MG one is far superior with articulation solving most of the problems mentioned for hg, though not surprising when the Master Grade Astray frames were always good models.

BTW talk about the color,you can tell that the red is supposed to be metallic, and of course they can't put it on mass production kit and only for special coating version (that usually exclusive). and in the show it was painted anyway

Yeah I wasn't expecting a special finish but just a darkest plastic or even a slight metallic plastic would've been possible.
You know thinking about the Sengoku's Astray's design. I have a bit of an inspired idea for a custom.
My thoughts. Sengoku Astray, damaged effect parts, BBG's effect parts, Street Fighter IV's Oni colorscheme.
I love how you compared Gurren Lagann to the Sengoku's Demon Shield side-by-side.

Badumtish! The reused red was probably from the original astray frame- tis a shame, but while anime inaccurate it doesn't too look bad. I wish we got clear lenses for the green pieces though.

I don't know why is the lower part of the waist is black after been built but it shows that it is white in the picture beside the box.
What paint did you use for the red? I'm thinking of buying this kit.
Did you use a gold Gundam marker for the guard or did you spray paint it gold?

Say TYPE V3, might I ask how you did the gold painting for the parts on the gundam, the shield and the swords? It looks so clean and I would like some information to build up my personal skills if you would spare? Also would you recommend using Tamiya Spray paint on the gundam or would that impede the gundams articulation?
I used a gundam marker. Then when the paint dried, I scratched off the excess with a toothpick.
Tamiya paint is great! Won't impede articulation but just be careful not to scratch the finish.
***** Alrighty then! :) One more question, say you paint a model with a METALLIC PAINT (which I heard has a rigid surface) and one spot has to option for a sticker. Will the sticker loose it's adhesive on a metallic paint over time?
Yes it will. You might be better off gluing them down or topcoating the finished kit.

You complain about the shade of red being off, but just remember that it could always be worse: It could be HGUC Rozen Zulu. :P

Hi Type V3, I have a question to ask. How did you secure the Red-Horn on the head of the Sengoku Astray. O just finish this kit, painted every white part to gold, and it looks awesome. But somehow I can't secure the red Horn on it's head. Can you tell me how (with the exception of glue), please.

TYPE V3 do you cover your foil stickers before top spraying flat? Because sometimes the sheen makes it really good. I don't know if I should just flat spray the whole gundam or just non sticker areas.
Vandoeun Long I tend to just spray over the stickers. I do remove clear parts though.

+TYPE V3 ahhh crap spoiler for me... my pick for HGBF series is Sengoku Astray and Exia Dark Matter... the review for sengoku astray got me a mixed reaction about purchasing HG sengoku astray... oh well I guess that's some limitation for HG series in sengoku astray. Not to mention I don't have marking pens, I forgot the other accessories to make more cooler. no offense. as for Exia dark matter still one of my HGBF pick

The only thing that strikes me as neat on the seniority astray is the fine surface detail. It is quite nice, but not planning to get this one. Plus Niels Nielsen is a really silly name dontcha think?

Nope. This version of the astray doesn't use scabbards.

+Onizuka Look at the parts list in the instruction booklet. Notice how some parts have an "x" through them. Just means they're not used - they're basically garbage.

was thinking of grabbing this figure but im happy to miss it out now, just seem like there's a few to many "niggles" here and there on it that put me off. It aint no Master Gundam, still i think my fav kit ive got.
