What is your favorite kind of smell or scent?
all of them
Mostly flowers
Does vanilla count as a smell?😅
I love the smell of strawberries
Not sure
One time I had a girlfriend who had a very distinct and unique scent. I thought it was a lotion or something, but when I asked her, she said she didn't wear lotion or perfume. Turns out it was just her natural scent. Very attractive
That's very interesting! Was she also attracted to your as well?
@@Psych2go yes but I wear cologne haha
Oh yeah, I still remember how the redhead smelled that I dated in high school over 25 years ago. Odd memory, but it’s there.
Scent is an underrated, but very powerful tool when it comes to dating, and pleasant natural scent is like a cheat code in that regard. H.G. Wells has famously been romantically involved with many women while not being particularly handsome, and one of his more consistent lovers, Moura Budberg, attributed her attraction to him to the fact that "his body smelt of honey" (if I'm to believe my sources)
I once were with my ex and he was smelling around me very interested.
"You smell like - human, I haven't felt that in a while".
Because I hate perfumes and most often using perfume free soaps and schampoo ect. 😊 I took it as a complement
I've always noticed that women smell slightly different when they're ovulating or menstruating. They also seem more attractive and their skin feels softer while ovulating.
Also, whenever someone starts to get sick, they smell different. Interestingly enough I saw an article that came out a few years ago that talked about this. It was something to do with the bodies cells suffering from ketoacidosis when it's fighting off an infection.
Yep I can tell when either happens for my gf. I can also attest that I can rate her sugar levels/ ketoacidosis by smell, she’s diabetic and it really does change in some ways
I can smell directly when me and my kids are getting sick, especially my son, it has always smelled right away 😁 And I always feel so embarrassed when I start to smell but nobody else can feel it when I ask (or they just being kind?)
@@somethingbambi875 I personally can't notice changes like that when it comes to scent. Maybe it's just that your senses are stronger since you are a mother.
I went out with my friends when I was menstruating while recovering from a cold but must of been smelling funky 😂
I mean, Period blood smells strong and it's bad blood
I was diagnosed with hyperosmia(heighten sense of smell) so smells tend to be very important to me and how I cognitively discern one person from another so todays video was very interesting:D
Thank you for sharing. It sounds like you almost have a superpower! In your opinion, do you feel like the video was relatable to you? If so, what did you find relatable?
I am only diagnosed with atypical autism, which in my case means highten senses in general. So I smell everything and it makes work hard because smelling working men ... Not all, but a lot of them, no fun 😅 and cigarettes are hell 😢
That is pretty cool. How did you find out? How did you know that you smell better than most people? Does it make it harder to go to like public toilets, or be near a co-worker with bad breath? I wonder if I have the same issue, but I am not sure.
I've noticed too that ny husband smells different when he is aroused. I guess that is covered by attraction in the video. I can sometimes tell who is in a room I'm about to enter if I get a whiff, but it's not all the time. And different people smell different. Sometimes an odor can be very distinct and I'm not sure why. I guess I'm sharing because I want to know if this sounds familiar. Also what is it like for you having hyperosmia? Weird question: can you smell fear?
@@Psych2go I found most of it very relatable, I do tend to smell if someone is sick as it’s a very weird and distinct smell to me, if someone eats and drinks healthy or not, and the age of someone:)

I've actually noticed for a long time that a lot of people smell a little like onions or garlic (sulfur compounds). So yeah, you can DEFINITELY smell that!
Starches too, sometimes. I've been around people that smell exactly like unseasoned ramen noodles. Not an unpleasant smell but it's a weird association to make with someone who's covered in sweat
Nahhh, das a bad smell fam. But there are so many WORSE smells that I'm not bothered by that smell anymore lmaoo
My father always smelled like sweet chilli sauce, then after going mostly vegetarian, garlic
all of my scrawny friends smelled like carrots and pennies lol
I've been around a lot of people that smell starchy, its not awful but its enough to make me not want to be around them.
As a woman, I find scent to be a very powerful tool. I naturally have a heightened sense of smell than most people, I think. When I am on my period or about to bleed, my sense of smell is heightened even more. When catching a good, "manly" scent of cologne, I immediately get turned on, even if that man isn't conventionally attractive. Just by the way he smells can get him up to a ten. So it can be really frustrating if a woman with a stronger scent comes in my presence. I also have my own scent, and love the way my skin and hair smells. It rubs off onto my clothes, and they in turn smell so good! However, I cannot stand the smell of dog, and can always tell if someone has a dog by they way they smell. Scent of dog to my nose is what fingernails on a chalkboard are to my ears.
Omo it's unbelievable that u have such strong smelling sense 🐧
Women in general have a greater olfactory capacity than Men. It's why Moms are way more sensitive to their kid's BO than Dads.
I have a high sense of smell too- i can tell food is about to go bad before it actually is bad , my favorite coworkers don't smell . my old boss had to amny smelly goods in the office in air fresheners that it gave me head aches. . something wrong is my sniffer in our new place though because candles I used to like all smell like cars with bad exhaust its sickly sweet . it makes me upset because I liked them last year !
You encouraged me to take my personal hygiene more seriously! Thank you kind woman!

You are welcome.
Reminds me a Dear Abby letter I read when I was a kid. Someone had written to Abby about an older female relative who had suddenly developed a bad body odor. Everyone noticed it, but no one said anything because they didn't want to embarrass her. Turned out their relative had cancer and didn't know it until it was too late. So yes, a sudden change in body can mean a potential health problem.
The animation style combined with her voice is absolutely adorable. The jokes actually had me giggling.
I’ve also always noticed that homes of elderly people such as my grandparents always have a destructive elderly like smell throughout them so I guess their age related smell is what I’m smelling throughout their homes whenever I visit them! :)
Not joking or trying to be rude
I notice older people tend to smell the same
I think it may be the scent of decay
@@Mr3DLC
Yeah like it could possibly be linked to the breakdown of DNA as DNA can start to break down after the caps degrade over time.
Elder people also tend to take a lot of meds. Could that contribute as well?

Maybe though I’m not sure on that! :)
So our body odor can tell us something about our body like our tears can tell us something about our emotions? I mean it makes sense now that I think about it
Yes it does! It can even tell us our personality too. What do you think you smell says about you?

Talking about body odour... Does anyone have a trick to be able to smell your own scent? I've always been curious to know if my hair smells like my shampoo or if my cologne actually has any effect on me... I'd also want to know how my clothes smell like, since I've purposely chosen a detergent whose scent I really like.
Did you try your underarm yet?
@@AC-ni4gt I usually can't smell my own scent even from there. Probably it still smellls like something.
Our brains are programmed to dismiss many of the details about ourselves... so we don't constantly notice our noses interfering with our vision, or our own body smells interfering with what little olfactory information we DO get from the rest of the world... SO there isn't much we can even do about that...
As for testing colognes or shampoo, you CAN find a source of odor that's at least a little stronger than you normally are. It doesn't have to be a "bad" odor, just unique enough that you can definitely tell if it's covering the cologne or shampoo rather than the other way around... Colognes and Perfumes are designed to COVER other odors. They're not usually antimicrobial or offering some other organic chemistry to target and alter the sources of odors, but to aerate their own odor profiles to distract us or to inundate our olfactory system so we don't notice the other odors... That's sufficient for you to simply test your cologne against something unique and strong, even if it's no more than spraying your hand and then waving it a discrete distance under your nose while hovering over a garbage can...
Shampoo, on the other hand, is first and foremost a detergent for your hair, and hair is a textile. Your skin also secretes oils that coat the hair and penetrate it... SO a quality shampoo has to be at least a solid degreasing agent. You don't need it to strip off an engine block from a decade of sludge, but if it can't remove the odd little oil smudge from a piece of clothing without destroying it, then you may not have a quality shampoo, regardless of how good it smells. The oils in your hair will repel the fragrance and it runs down the drain anyway...
This degreasing nature of shampoo is also where we come across some of that advice about NOT washing our hair every single day or even every single time we shower or bathe... BUT what (exactly) you do with all this information is ENTIRELY up to you. I hope this helps you out, and that if you do discover your shampoo isn't cutting the grease or mustard, you can find a reasonable alternative... If you're in the States (or you can still find it in your country) actually "Formula VO5" is decent shampoo... and their "Extra Body" is almost engine degreaser quality... haha... I keep a few bottles of the stuff SPECIFICALLY for the laundry, because it's also about as CHEAP as shampoo gets. It leaves almost no residue at all, so a light follow up with your favorite fragrant wash or a conditioner is sufficient to scent your hair as well as about anything on the market. ;o)

Random question do you guys also sometimes think of the thing you are thinking about and then you realize what your doing and get into a infinite loop of thinking about what your thinking about
I have slight to non-existent scent, I shower everyday sometimes twice if it's sunny and even after working out it's still the same. I just like the smell of fresh clothes. However, girls I've been with like to sniff me or my clothes. I would tell them it just smells like dust from going outside and they'd say it smelled good, so I just assumed it's just the fresh smell that all people like.
the smell of outside sunshine is what I love about summer because my kids smell like it when they go outside to play
I can smell when people are sick if I’m around them enough. I can sometimes smell if a girl is going through that time of the month if using the restroom after them. Your scent tells a lot about you.
Always wait about a minute before you leave the stall so the other person doesn't get hit with the smell. I do this just as a "in case" every time I'm in a public a restroom. I just don't want anyone to smell me if I leave a smell lol.
i will do opposite do a huge shit and go as fast as i can so other people can get full arome
FEAR has a distinct smell.
What does fear smell like?
It's crazy how much scent plays a role in physical attraction - whether we want to admit it or not (or body weight/BMI also has pretty dramatic impact on it, another problem with being overweight and a potential health indicator)
For one thing, people will generally find members of the opposite sex (unless you're homosexual) with a dissimilar immune system more attractive - though I should note because The Pill is a hormonal treatment it can potentially invert this. This also doubles as a natural defense against inbreeding, as you typically
will find the scent of your immediate blood relatives offensive (or at least not attractive)
The last thing I want to point out is apparently everyone has their own unique scent, just like your fingerprints.
The scent of my Ex is forever burned into my brain (it's actually a source of immense grief but that's a separate thing)
It just kinda happened by accident one day when we were younger and fooling around, first time I noticed it and that was it - like being hooked on crack. It's indescribable how potent the effect can be when you find that one perfect match, head swimming like you're drunk and near uncontrollable, limitless libido. No other girl I've noticed has had anywhere close to the same effect :/
Supposedly a man's scent can have a calming and regulating effect on a woman's cycle but there's probably more studies needed to confirm that (I wouldn't doubt it though).
Lol we like to think that we're special, that we're somehow above nature and the "lesser species" but we're animals too, bound by the same rules - just (debatably) a lot more intelligent.
my husbands bo is comforting when I'm cramping otherwise I hate it .
@@ah5721 you on the pill by any chance? That's kinda odd for it to only be OK in the one instance.
Also, we actually have 2 different kinds of sweat & glands; Apocrine which is your "normal" scent that even if you shower, will naturally come back over time and is the one that causes arousal in potential partners and endocrine which is stress sweat i.e. BO that is generally offensive.
This effect is inverted for women taking oral contraceptives
so if you get together with a woman on the pill she will dislike your smell when she stops taking it (menopause?).
If men are sensitive to MCH smell too they would be attracted women on the pill that aren't attracted to those mens smells.
(if oral contraceptives' change how women's MCH markers smell is an entirely different question)

I don't understand crushes or ... signifivant other sorts of love. In all my experiences, I was just scared and felt pressured to do things the whole time. Their smells were always.. weird
Maybe you are aro/ace? It's totally fine to not feel romantic or sexual attraction at the same level as other people.
Crushes are our own desires pushed onto others. We never truly know who others are, even after decades of being around or with them. I'm sure you'll find someone you're comfortable around eventually, that's the key, and it's good you notice it and don't get drunk on lust and make mistakes with who you're with. Just take your time, things will work out. I'd say be careful listening to what some might tell you though. Trying to convince you that you're some term being thrown around these days. Be very careful with labeling, especially labeling yourself. We spend our entire life understanding ourselves, it's too sad to see people putting themselves into categories and limiting their own growth and self understanding at any age, especially a young age. Good luck, God bless, and remember to be patient, it takes time.

So, theoretically, people shouldnt use any smell altering cosmetic products, even deodorants, to enhance the chance of finding the genetically most compatible partner. Especially in regard to the ABCC11 gene, different races can smell different, too (though it's not a blanket "all of this race smell like X" kind of deal, trends often have exceptions and outliers).
As someone with it mutated, I have fewer odorous sweat glands and dry, flaky ear "wax". I'm attracted to others also with the mutated gene but generally turned off by those without it mutated. I also get the privilege of not needing deodorant.

Animals run on instinct, Or to be more specific, Use their senses and do not ignore them, Whereas we have been trained to ignore ours. If you are living in accordance with the natural laws of the universe, Your scent will be more attractive, And this is why Animals dislike or show an instant admiration to certain people
