    Good effort at the review, cheers, one important thing you left out, how long did it take to reach melting temperature?

    You should add some charcoal to help reverse the corrosion.

    Thanks for the review Thomas, I'm thinking of buying one of these mostly for aluminium and brass, how has the furnace performed since you had it? Thanks Ade

      It works good still. The electric furnaces do wear out over time. The heating element will burn out eventually, but you can buy replacements. Propane forges are another option if you do want to deal with an electric one.

      @@SouthpawWorkshop Hey, can you try to melt steel in it? If you still have the furnace ofc. Im just wondering if you can melt steel in these things.

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  Před 2 lety

      No way. It doesn’t get nearly hot enough to melt steel. This thing maxes out around 2000 F. Steel starts melting somewhere between 2500-2800 F

      @@SouthpawWorkshop Okay thank you. I will just buy one that is like 1500 degrees to melt the steel!

    Now that you've had the furnace for 2 years, is it still operating? Any issues since purchase?

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Still works fine but I do not use it regularly. They do have parts that wear over time. The heating element and the ceramic insulator won’t last forever, but can be replaced if necessary
