I still love Guyver, it was probably my first "shonen" anime and manga. The lore and the build up was great.
That Takaya has put the series on hiatus while he becomes a dentist kills me.

Not too surprising though. The guy had it running for three DECADES. Just *working* as a mangaka for three decades is insane. These guys work stupid long hours on the material itself just to meet deadlines, and have to spend even more time on research. It's easy for an author to either burn out or just quit and move on to something else. It's no coincidence that a number of popular manga and light novels simply stop because the authors died. Even if they don't die directly from fatigue, chances are that their health and immunity was compromised by their stress levels along with the difficulty of maintaining health on the sort of pay most of them get. The dude's in his sixties now, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he simply doesn't have it left in him. At this point, I feel like the best we could hope for is for him to write up a thorough outline of the remainder of the plot then select a successor to finish it.

If Guyer is a metal deconstructed version of Kamen rider. Then Reject Rangers is basically a Punk rock deconstruction of Power Rangers/Super Sentai.

At this point, it'd probably need a new author working off of notes/outlines provided by Takaya. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, or unheard of.

Just a heads up on some Guyver facts to a fellow fan!
    * Steve Blum played Guyver 3 in the original OVA series plus its redub!❤
*Female Guyver 2 (and all of her tentacles merged glory you'd be crazy to show) gets reintroduced in the manga! Making her finally Canon!
    * Guyvers OVA series was at 1st, 6 episode and was produced in the late 80s by LA Hero/US Renditions. It was thanks to fan support that the further 6 episodes got produced and was thanked by Animerica Magazine in the end credits!❤
    * The Manga video version of Guyver was a re-release of the earlier OVA series, but with a redub of the voices( with the original dub cast for the most part),also with a new intro and closing song( your results may vary...i prefer the original japanese versions!)
    * ADV Films release of the 2005 Guyver series pay nods to the original Ova series thanks to the crew being fans; right down to a British accented narrator "On The Next Episode" being played by a woman instead of a man!

Can't share how much I love the OVA( Out of Control)& OVA series and even the 2005 Reboot series! Whether its the amazing armor designs, zoranoid designs or the fantastic storytelling! Guyver still holds up as a great series...though I'm hoping we'll get more from it in the future...someday...

Man, I STILL wish the OVA series finshed because god do I love the Guyver world. Same with the 2010 series even though I find it to be a bit too clean at times, at least it did kind of finish. And damn it, after meeting David Hayer years ago, now I want to watch the second live action movie again. First that one video talking about this series and now this is making me want to go back.

Guyver I feel has more in common with Shin Kamen Rider: Prologue. Since Kamen Rider Shin has the only body horror transformation, and he fights enemies that can do the exact same thing.
And there is plenty of limb cutting and blood to go with the more gritty nature.

"Oddly enough got his start in porn". Spoken like someone who doesn't know near as much about manga authors as he thinks. Tons of the best manga authors started out as hentai authors, and lots of the most popular hentai authors go on to make some level of mainstream works. CLAMP started out writing Yaoi, for Pete's sake.

General consensus on wtf is Takaya is doing right now isn't determined. Theories are: he is back to being dentist; his assistant died and he got depressed(far out and no proofs). But these are just speculations, he remains silent and nobody has a clue, at least in the west. Apparently was spotted last march (2023) at kamen rider event with Max Watanabe.
Guyver is far more influential than it gets credit for.

Marvelous, simply marvelous. You outdid yourself Big Man. I always prepared Akira Fudo and Sho Fukamachi over the modern day anime protagonists (No offence to Shinji Ikari, but really his mother and father are both horrible people, poor kid is cursed.) A big fat missed opportunity to feature Guyver in SRW Cross Omega and fuse it's story with both Tekkaman Blade and Detonator Orgun.
3:18-3:43-4:19-15:48 Fun Fact: In the Japanese version, when Enzyme tears out the Control Metal, Guyver I makes it look like he's grunting in pain, whereas in the dub, Sho is screaming his bloody lungs off like his head is about to be tear off.
3:59-4:07 Yes Micah, let your' hate flow, but take a page from Garth Ennis and aim it at Seed's head writer Fukuda for the horrible mistreatment of the voice actors on set.

I have the physical DVD collection for the 2000 series. Something really great about them? They came with Zoanoid data sheets in the form of booklets. A nice little extra that made me rather happy.
Yeah the manger being on hiatus is something that inspires great disappointment in me. Hunter x Hunter is also on hiatus which is frustrating. Though Miura passed, he did at least(apparently_ leave comprehensive notes for his assistant to take over. So we may get a proper ending for the story of Guts.
