The lyrics, “The tears I cry aren’t tears of pain, they’re only to hide my guilt and shame, I forgive you, now I ask the same of you, while we were apart, I was human too”….Wow 😮….This band is an 80’s gem!
Listen to their song Louise it has the following quote: "It's not always true that time heals all wounds, There are wounds that you don't wanna heal,
The memories of something really good, Something truly real, that you never found again"
@Strawberry Shortcake I hope they go back and listen to the lyrics again. I was waiting for that look of shock after hearing that part, lol
@@dantor2086 I can't believe I missed this song! Thanks for that suggestion 🙂
I admit I missed the meaning of that verse all throughout the 80s. It wasn’t until I saw another reaction video sometime in the past year when it hit me.
Yes
Jay and Amber, I think you missed it on this one. At the beginning of the song, he confessed to cheating on her while she was gone somewhere. And then SHE says, well, I cheated on you, too. That's what "being human" means in this song. There's very little sweetness and compassion going on at all. Listen again. :)
Yep!
Thanks, I thought I missed something. I remember when this came out, it was obvious.
Seriously, I was wondering what lyrics they are listening to. The whole song is about infidelity and all they can talk about is how sweet it was.
@@chetstevens4583 you gotta remember they're young hell they was probably born in the late 90s
@@vernonjohnsonjr7389 Pretty sure they are old enough to understand the lyrics. They hear but they do not listen.
This song is about him feeling guilty for cheating but wanted forgiveness and saying that he was only human, born to make mistakes.
But then she admitted her own guilt and shame by saying while she was gone that she was "only human too"
Thank God I was afraid no one understood that this song was about cheating
Maybe they'll do "Second Chance" by 38 Special next.
They totally did not catch that! Ugh darn
They were on a brEAK!
@@wayoutfurreal1 Lmfao 🤣 hey I figured that out the first time I heard the song , some folks didn’t.
This song was written and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Those men were thr architects of so many artists of the 80's and were members of The Time, a band from Minneapolis and part of the groups developed by Prince. They were writers for Janet Jackson and so many others. They produced almost countless hits.
YES!!! 💛
cool. thx for that!
So cool!!
Didn’t know that
Thats why it souns like the SOS band?!
J & Amber? The song started with him apologizing for being human and cheating on her while they were apart for an extended time. Her response was that she wasn't crying in pain at his confession, it was her own guilt and shame for doing the same thing, herself.
¡ WHIFF!!!
They totally missed it!
I was waiting to see if they were gonna get it, like the Piña Colada Song!
@@treywyatt1842 Right?? "He's so sweet" "it's compassionate that he doesn't want to see the girl he loves cry" etc. -- he cheated on her! He's making a stupid attempt at saying "it was just because I missed you so much, I couldn't help myself." And then she says she cheated on him while she was gone, too. People need to really listen to the lyrics LOL.
Thank you so much for saying it. I loved this song when I was little, because I thought it was all deep and romantic. When I got older and figured out that they were screwing around on each other, it was considerably less deep and romantic and yeah, kind of hate it now.
Flew clear over their heads!! VIVA LA 80s Kids!!
This song is actually hilarious in the end. The entire song is the guy making excuses for cheating on his girlfriend while they were apart, begging for forgiveness, hoping she won't dump him...only to have her at the end turn it around on him, admit she cheated on him, too. First time I heard this, many, many years ago, I couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Love this song! Produced in Minneapolis by the great producing duo, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who were inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame this year.
Please react to “Fascination” which is another banger by the Human League loaded with plenty of synth for you!
A) was gonna suggest Fascination, too (LOOOOVE Fascination!) and B) Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis RULE!!! Cannot WAIT to see their induction!!! Banger after banger after BANGER!
Adding my vote for Fascination. I just listened to it for the first time in decades. It's a real classic of the '80s and a genuine group effort (check out their video). Amber and Jordan, I think you'll be fascinated (haha) by it.
This was a gorgeous sounding record. Next, Fascination is fun one- like 4 people singing lead, and Mirror Man is funky.
Fascination is my favorite from them. The deep voice with feminine makeup was something surprising and different when that video came out.
Oooh yes “Fascination” is a favorite of mine. It’s a much faster funky beat.
Yes, i forgot about that one.
One of my favorite songs ever! Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced this one. It was a decidedly different sound for the group, and scored them a crossover hit into R&B charts. However, most people don’t catch that it’s about 2 people apologizing for cheating on each other.
I got the cheating on each other but Jimmy & Terry producing got me!! They had their hands in everything!!
Such a well, writtened song and well sung. With a deep meaning, still revelant today.
Jam and Lewis in full effect on this cut!
Ahh that explains it, I always thought this had a New Jack Swing sound to it, like Ralph Tresvant or something
If you guys haven’t heard Thompson Twins-Hold
Me Now you should definitely check it out. I know Amber will love it.
Yes!Great suggestion and I love them.
They have already reacted to the Thompson Twins "Hold Me Now'. They did love it.
They have a bunch that aren't to be missed. "Who Can Stop the Rain," "Doctor! Doctor!" "Lay Your Hands On Me"
YES !! 👍😃❣️
That Minneapolis Sound at work, even here! Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis coming with something different. By far my favorite Human League song.
But gotta go with more with the Minneapolis Sound and Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam hits!
Janet Jackson, Morris Day, The Jets, SOS Band, Boys II Men and of course Cherelle and Alexander O'Neal!
Don't forget If It Isn't Love by New Edition.
@@ronnix23 mnjl
BOYS II MEN !! 👍😃❣️
This song was in a commercial about 7 or 8 years ago. Another great #1 hit from the 80's, and well deserved!
I hate when the play "my" music in grocery stores and elevators. It makes me feel so old!
@@bethmiller1840 I love it! The kids in the store probably don't even realize these were big hits. I bet many of them think they were just made for the background at the store. LOL
Amber!!!! I can’t believe you missed the shift when she responded with her confession. We need another reaction video to this reaction video.
OK, the NEXT Human League song needs to be "(Keep Feeling) Fascination"!
Andy Fletcher, keyboardist for Depeche Mode died today... When you get back to them, I recommend “Never Let Me Down Again.” You can never have enough 80s new wave jams
I am devastated!😥
Oh, no! Terrible news.
I hadn’t heard. That’s awful.🥲
So sad! Never Let Me Down Again, Personal Jesus, Enjoy the Silence, World in My Eyes, Stripped, Strangelove... so many awesome songs ❤😪
I heard about Andy Fletcher’s death on Jamal’s channel Rest In Peace
J & Amber, you'll love their "(Keep Feeling) Fascination", "Mirror Man" and "The Lebanon"!!!
The Lebanon is incredible!!!
Ohh.... I forgot about The Lebanon! Good song. Although a window on another war...
I can't believe no one's talking about the MEANING of this song -- it's about BOTH people in the relationship CHEATING on each other! He's begging forgiveness and claiming he's "only human". But then, surprise! "while we were apart, I was 'Human' too" -- she ALSO cheated.
Yeah, I like this song because it's 80s nostalgia, but the message not so much lol
Yea I don't know if the message was received.
Wow, I never picked up on that message before. Thanks! An even deeper message than I thought. Emotionally jarring too.
@@mkmstillstackin Jarring for sure -- but also lyrically-clever writing.
@@herobreaker9011 good point and I would agree, very artfully well done.
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced this hit! They are pure music magic, especially when they work with Janet Jackson!! Human League are the epitome 80s synth pop!! "(Keep Feeling) Fascination" is a fun bop to check out. Keep smiling!! 🤩🤩🤩
This song was the Human League's second biggest hit song in America. The song crossovered on three different Billboard charts in the fall of 1986. It went all the way to hit #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Dance charts. It also peaked at the #3 spot on the Billboard Soul chart as well.
Another great song you NEED to hear is “No One is to Blame”, by Howard Jones. It’s a very deep, soft moving, thoughtful song with a definite 80’s vibe. Love your channel.
Yes. This. ❤️ Anything by Howard Jones, really. The video for Everlasting Love cracks me up. I've made my husband and children watch it multiple times.
Ah! What a great song!
In the 80s a friend and I who had been kicked out of our families for being queer, used to sit in a 24 hour diner in San Francisco who had this song on the jukebox. We would play it and dance in the mostly empty dining room at 3am. She and I would sit and write poems on the hot pink tray liners and dream of a better life. Almost 40 years later and I still cannot hear it without crying.
I hope your life has been as you dreamed. +big hugs+
Beautiful and bitter sweet memory. Best to you. 💋
i dont agree with homosexuality but i woudnt have kicked u out the family
@@johnnycarter2283 Oh you mean you would have "allowed" me to exist in your family despite your hatred of gay people and opinion that our existence is "wrong?" You and your "opinions" are the reason that LGBTQ kids kill themselves. Homosexuality isn't the problem. Your hate is.
Sorry to hear that happened to both of you. Hope each of you are doing well. Happy Pride Month!
They admit that they both cheated. I still have this single as it came out when I was in high school! Keep Feeling Fascination is a great upbeat dance song by them!
More Human League! “(Keep Feeling) Fascination” and “The Sound of the Crowd”
Great reaction as always and great song…if you can..tomorrow you two should react to Depeche Mode and Yes as one key member of each died today..huge losses..
Andy Fletcher-founding member and keyboardist of Depeche Mode
Alan White-long time drummer of Yes and once drummer of solo John Lennon.
You have to do “keep feeling fascination” next by the human league. Upbeat and amazing!!!!!
Agree! Fascination was one the first music videos I laid eyes on as a kid. The colored house and swinging harmonies boggled my mind.
Sounds like a cereal jingle...
Also has a lot of horns! We know who loves horns! 😉🎺🎺🎺🎺
It’s sooo cheesy that it’s GREAT!! I love it!
@@kd2009 ...horns? What? There ain't no horns in that song! Are you talking about the synthesizer??
Possibly the sweetest, gentle, most melodious song about cheating I've ever heard. 😆
Pure cold wave gem. Iconic 1986 N°1 song by an iconic 80's group, produced by iconic Jam and Lewis. And that simple blue video suits the song so well. Loved it then, still love it today.❤️
This was the final song of the Second British Invasion. In 1986, "Human" was knocked out of the #1 spot on the charts by Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name," kicking off the Hair Metal Years.
Interesting! The second British Invasion was overflowing with fabulous songs, as was the first.
Cool song! Fingers crossed for Freda Payne, “Band of Gold” for Friday!!🤘🔥
OMG yes please.
Yessss!!!!
Great choice!
YYEESSS!!!
This song, produced by Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam, the producers of almost all of Janet Jackson's hits, remains my favorite by this group. "Don't You Want Me" is okay, but this gets me every time. Perhaps the sweetest song about unfaithfulness ever written. Similarly, try "(I'm Only) Human" by Jeffery Osborne for a well written, better sung song on the same topic.
I was thinking to myself how much this sounds like late 80s R&B. Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam explains that one!
I remember the first time of hearing this song thinking that it sounds like a Janet Jackson song. Then I found out who produced it thinking "that makes sense".
@@paul.kristoff They also produced "I Need Your Lovin' " on the same "Crash" album by THL. That one really sounds like early Janet. In fact, they produced the entire "Crash" album.
Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis production! Nuff said!
Jimmy and Terry say this was their most difficult production project.
"together in electric dreams" is another song that defines that 80's sound.. sung by Human League front man Philip Oakey
Yall need to re-listen and LISTEN!!!
Especially to her reveal at the end!
I remember slow dancing to this in the 8th grade...It was a big deal!!! 😍😍😍
You have got to listen to their "Keep Feeling Fascination" song. That is my favorite one of theirs... and for some reason, almost no one has reacted to it.
It takes a REAL man to love.
"Human League" was actually one guy, Philip Oakey. The back up singers were just that, singers. Oakey was an inovator of techno at the time along with Thomas Dolby and Howard Jones. I was there for the techno revolution of the early 80"s as an undergraduate in physics. I'm now 67 and this is stil some of my favorite music from this time.
One of the many hits that are part of the "Minneapolis Sound," which influenced SOOOOO MUCH of the music of the 80s. This was another song produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (members of the group, The Time), who, along with Prince, impacted that whole decade of music via song production. They were also responsible for ALL of Janet Jackson's albums, Bobby Brown's hits during the 80s and early 90's, New Edition's albums when they added Johnny Gill, Johnny Gill's album production, a few of Mary J Blige's albums, and lesser known pop artists (but ones who were very stong with R&B songs of the day) like Cherelle, Alexander O'Neil, and others I've probably forgotten about. If you look up the number of songs they and Prince produced during that Era, you'd probably be shocked -- "I feel for You" by Chaka Khan, for instance, is a Prince song.
They’re mostly know for “Don’t You Me” but this is my favorite song of theirs
Man, I love this song, and this band. Philip Oakey is the male singer, Joanne Catherall is the woman. They play off each other so dang well. My personal favorite HL song is "Heart Like a Wheel", but I also love "Mirror Man", "Tell Me When", and "(Keep Feeling) Fascination". Thanks for reacting! And for no reason at all, I'm going to recommend "The Boy From New York City" by Manhattan Transfer.
Yes to ManTrans! Though that's a huge left turn here, lol.
I also love "Heart Like A Wheel". I don't know how popular that song was in England, but it was only a small hit here in the U.S. so a lot of people who know Human League's big hits would have never heard it!
*WOW! that ManTransfer request came out of left field ... havent heard that one in 40 years!*
YES !! MANHATTAN TRANSFER !! 👍😃❣️
The song is about two people who cheated on each other and asking each other’s forgiveness
A lot of people commented that this song was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis of Flyte Tyme Productions but what no one has mentioned is that the song was already written by them when Human League came in to lay down the vocals. The woman's lines weren't added until the next day because the woman that was sleeping with one of the male singers complained about there not being any part for them. So Terry told them to come back the next day and he had the woman's line written and ready to record.
The smooth tones of this song almost make you think cheating is a good thing.
Oh, you two, and your 80's music...wait... I'm with you. Every decade and every genre has something to love.
This production is by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. This sounds like a song they produced for Alexander O’ Neal like Fake and Criticise etc…. Also SOS Band.
Have you done Shakespeare's sister with their song Called stay with me? If not, that's definitely a female Friday one.
Yes! Shakespears Sister would be great! “Stay” is a great song, and other favorites are “Run Silent”, “I Don’t Care”, You’re History”, and It’s A Trip”. So many other good songs too!
My favourite Human League song. I still have it in my vinyl collection.
This song was about how he cheated to not feel alone in her absence. Some comfort to ease his pain and being honest with her but at the same time she in return admits she did the same thing while they were taking a break from each other too. Such a gentle but song of forgiveness and longing and realizing afterwards you got clarity and now know you really need and want each other for life. Just a great song and the harmonies and airy production. Just heaven to the ears and senses. Produced by the legendary producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis
Philip Oakey, Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley. What an incredible combo.
This is such a great song, another fave for me. They both feel bad and are asking for forgiveness for cheating on each other.
Human League was a great 80's band!
Modern Alternative meets R&B...Way ahead of their time.
well said!
Human League were one of the first electronic New Wave bands to hit big in America. This is from the album Crash, produced by Janet Jackson's super producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Check out Love is All That Matters from the same album. Other songs to check out: Fascination, Love Action, The Lebanon (my favorite), Heart Like a Wheel, and The Things That Dreams Are Made of. Great, great music!
Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis were running the producing game at this time...the vocals made this sound more R&B from Human League than pop...luv this song!!
I loved this song, and their next release in 1986 was "I Need Your Loving" was really good also.
TELL ME WHEN underrated here in the USA .amazing upbeat danceable!!
Great song and great band. I was in my 20’s back in 80’s and their was ALOT of great music. Love this band.
This is my all time favorite song, it is soothing, when I go to work, I always listen, there is something about his voice. they are from Sheffield UK!!!
Hard Times/Love action is a brilliant song with a fantastic beat that was extremely popular and played at all the dance clubs. Worth a listen.
I saw `The Human League` back in the 90`s at the Hammersmith Odean, they are still touring, and will at Rochester Castle in Kent on 6th july 2022.......great band & catalogue of songs
Great choice, been a little while since I’ve heard it Thanks for the memories 🫶
You do know that both of them fooled around on each other. That's why their asking for forgiveness, and saying they were only human.
(Keep Feeling) Fascination by the Human League would be an excellent choice!
Such a good band need to do Fascination
(Keep Feeling) Fascination and Mirror Man need to be next on your Human League list. J, your synth vibes will be thoroughly satisfied with Fascination!
No lip synchs w this group - even till 2023. Raw vocals. That song was prodyced by J Jam & Terry from NYC.
Human League has another song called "Fascination"...check it out and another song "wheels turning"
I think you mean, "Heart Like a Wheel".
Most JIMMY JAM and TERRY LEWIS songs have an atmosphere to them....almost otherworldly....its amazing.
"Human" (1986) was The Human League's 2nd #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit, following their U.S. chart debut hit "Don't You Want Me" in 1982. Between 1982 - 1995, Human League charted 8 singles with 3 Top 10 hits including their 2 #1 hits.
"Human" reached #3 on the R&B/Soul chart and was #1 for 2 weeks on the Dance chart
@@group-music U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Pop charted 3/06/82 but you're right, on the Dance chart it debuted on 11/21/81.
Another classic Jam and Lewis jam. Love this song
This is literally one of my favorite all time 80s songs. I remember couple skating at the skating rink in my little town of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. I was an 80s kid
One of my favourite tracks of the 80's, Human League created a masterpiece. Great reaction video!
Produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis [of Morris Day & The Time fame]
check out the S.O.S. Band's "Just Be Good To Me" because Jimmy Jam
& Terry Lewis also produced that song. If you like this song, you'll really
like that one.
BTW, this song was produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, the same duo who produced Janet Jackson, SOS Band and many other famous artists plus they were apart of the group The Time which had Morris Day.
I think this is one of the greatest songs out of the 80s! it was written and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. If you don't know made Janet Jackson the queen a pop that she is. I don't think they could have got a better band to perform this song. A guilt-stricken man that decided to stray while he was apart from his love. Just the music alone is very emotional.
I am just so happy I grew up through the 80's music. This is one of those big hits that was a pleasure to listen to.
The Human League are still touring in Europe, though Philip is the only one in the lineup who has been going the whole 45 years! A more modern, blues rock song called Human was released 5 yrs ago by Rag 'n' Bone Man. It won Song of the Year in 2017, plus International Song of the Year. It is very different and very, very moving. You'd love it.
The League still comes to the States once in a great while. I saw them in Vegas about four or five years ago. Small venue, but it was a great show. No one in that audience was under 40. It was awesome.
Human League are one of the best 80s bands..
This was their best song and biggest hit. I still play this song in my car system. Had a much more mature sound. Love it.
The Low melody and bass notes complement they lyrics, reflecting the story of a couple who reunited after growing stronger through the affairs they once had. Side note: the key notes are similar to "Unsolved Mysteries" lol
This is my favorite song of theirs which is an epic song in my opinion. They formed in 1977 and still perform to this day. The lead Phillip Oakey who is now 68 has an amazing voice along with the two females are an awesome trio.
Lol, I was waiting to see if you really heard the lyrics. It's the sweetest song about CHEATING! LOL
Ahhh the 80's, so many good memories!
This song was a huge hit here in Brazil. Produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, these guys are hit makers with an unmistakable sound, they signed great songs for The S.O.S. Band, Change, Alexander O'Neal, Cherrelle, Cheryl Lynn, Force M D.'s, New Edition, Janet Jackson. and many others. I suggest you guys to try Herb Alpert - Making Love In The Rain (featuring Lisa Keith and Janet Jackson), you won't be disappointed. See ya!
If you want the edgier, faster side of Human League give "Fascination (Keep Feeling)" and "The Lebanon" a try.
Jam and Lewis were writing hits for everyone!
I absolutely loved the human league in the 80’s, they had some real bangers. Their debut album “Dare” was full of cracking tunes. Phil oakey’s voice was unique and I have to admit that I had a bit of a crush on him 😍 Some other 🔥80s hits I’m sure you’d love:

Keep doing what you’re doing, you are awesome 🥰💜🌈🙏🏻
Ps female Friday (FF)
Favorite 80s group!
I’m only human! 🎼
This song is a long way from the other one you reacted to. That's that "Jam & Lewis" sound. I think this group had been gone for a while and they hooked up with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and made sort of a comeback. Jam and Lewis are outstanding producers and if you have a good ear, you can recognize their sound with a lot of artists.
Yall need to react to DEPECHE MODE us fans are grieving Fletch passed away to day...he was the glue of the band ...its over for the band
Fkn sad 😪
Some think that the song is about him cheating on her because she wasn't around when he needed her, but I believe it's that they were a couple, had a fight and (as young couples do) hastily broke up. In the short time they were apart, each slept with another, then they got back together and both regretted what had happened.
It's such a combination of love and pain and real life experience, personal growth and such. Very relatable medley.
Another vote to do Fascination! It's just a super fun song.
Another Great Producing Masterpiece by Jim Jam & Terry Lewis. You may know them from producing many of HOF'er Janet Jackson Hit Songs🔥🎵👍
Takes me way, way, back to high school and many great memories. I still love this to this day. 😎🙌🏾🤙🏾
Honestly in 86 was not expecting the twist of her cheating on him too while they were trying to work it out. This song is so deep and relatable!! Nothing better than the 80s
That was my favorite song of the 80's I remember getting ready for school when this song would play on the radio I love this song
This song came out in 1986. That same year the song "No One Is To Blame" by Howard Jones also came out. I have them connected in my brain... to me they have a similar sound... Howard's got a great voice. I think you will like the song.
Check this one out! :) MAC DAVIS - BABY DON'T GET HOOKED ON ME (
im a metal head, but i have always loved this song . nice choice👍🏼
Wife here..Gentle and Great harmonies..Perfectly stated!!..Yet certain edgeiness..Beautiful..
