With the t-rex's arms, there's a couple of theories. The thing to remember however it despite the fact they're small relative to the animal, they're still extremely large and very muscular. So the most common theories is that they're 1. used to aid in mating for some extra grip 2. they're used to grapple onto prey items to immobilise them while the teeth do the killing
Cool
Or they used tools. I reject your reality and insert my own.

The Tyrannosaurus' arms were speculated to be used to assist in mating, its supported by the fact specimens of the same lineage have very similar arm structures despite being 350 million years older, meaning if they really had no use, they would have been evolved off of the T rex by the time of the Cretaceous period.
So its not prehistoric gang signs...?

If you're interested in taking another look at someone else's take on a Zombie T-rex, in the Dungeons and Dragon's book "Tomb of Annihilation" there was a monster called "zombie t-rex." That one has an interesting take because the zombie t-rex can vomit up normal zombies. Either way, super cool zombie t-rex you made.

T-rex arms are vestigial, or a 'left over' from its ancestors that hasn't fully evolved out of their design. Like whales having a useless pelvis bone structure.
Isnt that like how people have tailbones
Thank you, Rainwater and Max
@Max Bubb Whales need their hips for dancing.
Actually, in recent years most researchers have come to the conclusion that they were not vestigial. Even though they look small, their arms were as large or larger than a human's arms.
@@xxKrazyKxx Wouldn't the arms being human sized be normal because T-Rex's are just that big compared to us? So their arms would be tiny relative to the rest of their body but normal relative to humans?
Someone may have mentioned this, but there is a zombie T-rex in a book in the modern fantasy novel series "The Dresden Files" by Jim Butcher. Mine would die with one slap with his tiny arms so beat that
The fact that he kept calling Big Momma a boy had me dying. If we all remember, Dr. Wu very clearly states that every dinosaur in Jurassic Park and World are female to keep breeding impossible. The T-Rex was no different, which is why she was always called âBig Mommaâ.
Damn, that Thing Would definitely fit well into my Nurgle army.
T. rex had arms for the same reason we have âtailsâ. T.rexâs ancestors would have used their arms and itâs likely that young tyrannosaurs would have gotten more use out of them than fully grown ones.
trex ancestors used the arms to grab prey whilst biting, but back then they didnt evolve so then they didnt have purpose. trust me im a nerd
Our DM made a zombie dinosaur for our d&d party to fight!! This thing looks gnarly as hell, wouldnât want to come across it on an adventure đ
The little arms were probably used to stabilize the female mate while mating, but other than that super cool rex
dont trust google, they were used to hold prey while biting the prey, but sadly they didnt fully evolve for modern day t-rex.
Donât worry Adam! You have the Midas touch too! For tiny, nerdy things!!!
If you like zombies, you can also try the redeads from Zelda, or the undead army from the Lord of the Rings!!!
according to google the T- Rex used their tiny arms to slash prey.

This made me want to see you make something out of Horizon Zero Dawn...
his second video was a Horizon Zero Dawn diorama :D czcams.com/video/iTvDohdUsJ8/video.html but definitely agree i'd love to see more of it
I am an archaeology student! The T-Rex small arms are mainly vestigial, meaning they have no purpose but are still present in the body(like the human appendix). Another hypothesis that they are there to hold down large prey when eating. Another is for males to hold onto females during mating.
So... not for super close up high fives and cuddling? Ignorance is bliss, I suppose
Fun Fact: The T-Rex actually used its arms as sorta finger-knifes to pin down prey while it ate. I remember watching a documentary as a kid! I was and still am a Dino nerd!
I'm scared at the thought of an untiring T-Rex with absolutely no reason to stop its bloodlust...

According to a recent study, scientists believe the reason that the iconic T. rex had such short arms was to protect them during feeding frenzies on carcasses. The latest theory is that the predator's arms shrank to their tiny size to prevent accidental or intentional amputation when a pack of T.

I absolutely adore the sculpt! I think I'd have preferred the paint job to be a lot more muted. As requested, palaeontologist here, to give the answers about the T.rex arms. The answer to what the purpose of their arms was is... we have no idea.
There are theories:
- one of the older theories says they were similar to the clasper fins found on sharks, and were used to hold onto the females during mating, the only problems with that theory being that we would expect to see female T.rex with smaller or no arms (as we see female sharks with no claspers), yet there's basically no difference within the specimens we do have, and a large part of the theory about the shark's claspers is that water resistance and lack of traction mean it needs them, whereas T.rex is generally accepted to have mated on land (not that it's impossible they did so in the water, as some ornithischians would, it's just unlikely due to the chances of the female drowning);
- another theory from 2017 imagined them to be for gripping prey in position to get in some devastating attacks while it couldn't run away, however, if the T.rex was holding something with its arms, chances are that thing would be out of reach of the jaws, so although it's not impossible since we don't know how well a T.rex would be able to reach the prey, it is unlikely (as well as the fact that holding something you're attacking directly under your weakest point and all but out of your field of view isn't a great plan);
- the third theory I know of is that they would help the T.rex get up from resting position (belly on the ground) by essentially doing a tiny push-up, as they were remarkably muscular for their size in relation to the T.rex, however, this theory isn't exactly the most logical, since the arms will help with 2-3 feet at which point the T.rex still has another 13-17 feet to go using just its legs, which were extremely powerful and likely would do that job just fine without the arms.
The only other, and from what I've seen most accepted, theory is that they were vestigial limbs, essentially just something they had from evolving from animals that did need forelimbs which ended up being kept as they were for so long, because they were neither useful nor in the way. Some argue that the arms lasted for so long that they can't just be vestigial, but just because something doesn't necessarily help you, doesn't mean it will evolve away from lack of use - just as scientists predict we may lose our appendix or little finger or toe due to disuse, this doesn't mean we will definitely lose them, as they're not really an issue even if they aren't particularly useful.
Personally, I think the T.rex has tiny arms because they're not always that tiny. It was only within the past few decades that the idea that T.rex had feathers became more widely accepted, and although they're not likely to have been fully covered in adulthood, this doesn't mean they weren't as juveniles. Many other theropod species around the time of T.rex were capable of gliding and possibly short flight, with the majority theorised to climb trees for safety then glide from tree to tree, and this could've been the same for T.rex juveniles; as with the largest modern lizard, the Komodo dragon, which as juveniles stay hidden from predators in the trees until they're big enough not to worry about predators. So, I would say there's good chance that T.rex had a use for their arms when they were young, to help them climb trees and maybe hold prey in place if needed (as their jaws weren't fully formed), but they would eventually grow large enough, and their jaws would grow strong enough, that they no longer had use for their arms and they would stop using them altogether, resulting in what appear to be uselessly tiny arms as adults.
The real issue with deciding on a theory is that humans are very self-focused, and because we use our arms and hands for so much, we attribute the importance of our arms to other species, even when there's no reason to. As with birds, which evolved from the left over theropods, the arms became wings, the feet became more dextrous, and their jaws became beaks; for birds, they use their arms to travel, their feet to both stand and carry things, and their mouth/beak is used to both eat and pick things up and carry them. And, just because humans don't walk on our hands or pick everything up with our feet and mouths, doesn't mean we disagree about how birds do things, because we can see them in action.
So, I guess, until we either bring them back to life or travel through time, there will never be a consensus on why T.rex had such tiny little arms (relative to its body size). Hope that helps đ
Thank you. That was very interesting.
T-rex have arms because they were originally made to hold they're prey whilst biting them, but sadly they didn't fully evolve from they're ancestors.

âAre they used to throw prehistoric gang signsâ got me weak đ
I'm no paleontologist, I read and studied Dinosaurs in picture books and the reason why the t-Rex's arms are there even though they are small, is to help them push off the ground after a nap or something đ
Amazing creation as always
Thank you so much đ
T rex arms: nobody knows exactly why they are so small, but paleontologists think it was for geting up or hold the partner while mating. Maybe both
its known, xd dont trust google, im a big dino nerd and paleontologists know that the t-rex ancestors used them to hold prey whilst biting them. but they didnt fully evolve to have the same purpose for other t-rex.
Paleontologist here, after years of studying dinosaurs bones and fossils, we studied their fingers and realized that they had lots of muscles in their arms and fingers, for lots of finger movement, so me and my crew can come to the conclusion that dinosaurs arms served no other purpose than to throw up prehistoric gang signs. T-Rexâs that were born dead developed this as a form of communication, but this quickly turned into gang related activities that the dinosaurs would take part in. The Rexâs would then split up into 2 factions, similar to our blood and crips, and fight each other to the death, and call each other racial slurs, like âgreenscaleâ or âthintailâ they also began using the sign language as signs for which faction they were apart of, and for profanity usage. This all went on until the meteor struck, obliterating everything on the planet, leaving their bones for us to discover
Well some people think that those tiny things weren't arms, but WINGS! That part looks a lot like the bone structure of an ostrich wing. So the T-Rex is basicly a DRAGON đ±

I absolutely love all of your videos! They look so cool and make clay sculpting look really cool! I think I might start soon. Keep up the amazing work!
Oh hey, It's Susan. All it needs now is a lanky, brooding wizard and a small Jewish Medical Examiner with a massive drum. Polka will never die!
Technically speaking, for a Zombie T-Rex, you could have it's mouth opened MUCH wider with torn fleshy bits between the jaws. It's dead, it feels no pain, tearing its own flesh while roaring, or eating something, wouldn't hurt it at all.
What we need for a game, people want Dinosaurs to be cool, well this needs to be a thing
Neato Burrito! Also, as scary as it would be, we clearly need a Jurassic Zombie movie. Zombie raptors!
So the reason for T. Rex still having arms is actually still being debated by Paleontologists. Some believe it is a vestigial that was left over from previous species and was basically useless to them. Others believe it may have been a weapon in combat when prey got too close. And still others believe it may aid in balance or have aided in their prehistoric no pants dance sessions like how some snakes still have small claws to get their mates rocks off and want to have fun. Or they could have served all/some of these functions.
Oh and awesome model by the way!
the skeleton of emu's wings look simular to t-rex arms. Thus the t-rex could actually have had tiny wings.
If T-rex was alive today. That would've been the biggest chickenwing ever
Pretty big chicken tendies too
T. Rex used its arms to clutch tightly onto squirming prey before it delivered a killer bite with its jaws. (This dinosaur's powerful arm muscles lend further credence to this idea, but once again)
well the arms could be used to hold prey down, hold onto its mate, scratching, helping it push off the ground since they are very muscular arms
"Are they meant to throw up prehistoric gang signs?" đđ That made me weak
There is a show called 'Primal' which is AMAZING, (if you like Samurai Jack you'll love this) and it have an episode with a zombie virus. Super cool and terrifying.
If i didn't know it was a Z Rex i'd swear the green hues made it look like a zombified Deviljho from Monster Hunter
The Trex's arms were used for slashing at prey when on top of its prey since it can't reach under its body with its head and mouth, and the arms were almost as strong as the legs :)
T-Rex actually ONLY lived during the LATE Cretaceous period, so about 66-90 MILLION years ago, so it wouldnt have lived BEFORE the end of the Cretaceous period & therefore wouldn't have had time BEFORE that, to evolve. Anyway, about the tiny arms đ đđȘ A 45-foot tall T. rex has arms that are around three-feet long; the equivalent of a 6-foot human with 5-inch arms. Which is what makes their little appendages even MORE adorable & hilarious. Stranger still, the puny arms are nonetheless quite powerful: Analyses have shown a T. rex's arm could bench press 400 pounds. And yet, despite this raw strength, the arms were not only short, but possessed a limited range of movement, as well, only capable of swinging across at an angle of about 45 degrees. One theory proposed was that the forelimbs were used to grab and hold onto females during mating. (Females, however, also have the same limbs. Beyond that, the arms are very close to the body, so it's unclear how theyâd be effective in holding another large animal in place is.
Your channel brings me so much joy and calms my soul
Itâs funny how this is basically the most realistic way for the dinos to come back.
I challenge you to make a ponyo diorama, coraline diorama, turning red diorama, and a Winnie the Pooh one. In separate videos of course. I also love your videos. â€ïž
ya he should do that
also he did a winnie the poo
According to safari, âT. Rex used its arms to clutch tightly onto squirming prey before it delivered a killer bite with its jaws.â I have no idea if thatâs just a lie but thatâs funny to imagine-
The arms act as secondary rudder with the tail to help stabilize the head / body when attacking prey at speed
If you havenât seem a zombie t-rex before this point you havenât been looking in the right places! Remember there being one in Ben 10 while theres a whole series of zombie dinosaurs on youtube hmmmmâŠthey showed up in some sort of mmo too all the same youâre craft is amazing!!!
"But you know what I haven't seen yet? A zombie t-rex"
Genndy Tartakovsky: hold my beer
Honestly, I think in their evolution they at one time needed arms, but evolution decided sense it was such a perfect design, perfectly balanced, that nature might have been getting rid of the arms
That is disgustingly cool
Zombie T-Rex đŠ!! You ever hear about the Harry Dresden books? It's an urban fantasy series. In one of them Harry rides a zombie T-Rex into battle against the bad guys. đđŠđ
