    Thanks for doing this. Between this video and your rear brake video you saved me $1000!

    Thanks I used this guide to install a rear stabilizer bar on my 14 hatchback the bottom strut bolts are going on their 8th Wisconsin/Chicago winter season and won’t come off w/o the help of a blowtorch so I just popped off the top bolts and got the job done.

      Bottom bolts where the hardest for me also. I'm glad this video was helpful and thanks for watching!

    Hey buddy thanks for the video. I have a question for you, do you use both the metal washers they give you when you buy the shock? The only one I can see you use is the one that the nut tightens on top of, is the second washer used somewhere else?

    • @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL
      @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL  Před rokem

      The second washer goes on the top of the shock stem to make a clamshell around the rubber bumper. Sorry I did not show the process very well. I hope this helps!

    what happened to the part you put on in 5:13? You didn't have it on anymore when you re-install the part in 5:27. Ever since I've installed the new shocks, my car has been making a clunking sound going over larger bumps despite tightening the mountain hardware as tight as they'll go. I'm trying to figure out if the reason is because I'm missing hardware.

      The part at the two times you mention is the same in each shot.

    Thank you for this video! It is hard to come by Mirage repair videos on youtube, much appreciated. When you were lowering the car around 6:42, there is a creaking sound coming from the suspension. I have the same sound producing when I am entering and exiting the car. Did you find the cause of that sound as well?

    • @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL
      @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL  Před 4 měsíci

      That sound only happened when being lowered from the jack as I remember but sadly that car was rear ended and totaled a few years ago now so my memory of the sound isn't great.

    Did your suspension rattle alot? Is that why you changed them? Bought a 2014 and man clunks and thumps are bad. Thinking of changing mine to see if it helps

      I changed mine because the ride quality was getting bad. When I went over bumps it would bottom out in the rear. The new shocks fixed that.

    hi where did you get your rear shocks?

    • @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL
      @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL  Před 2 lety +1

      I ordered them from Advanced Auto. They didn't have them in stock so I had to wait a day or two for them to come in.

    What did you do to your poor mirage? Mine has 120k, been used for Uber and hauling 500lbs of rock on a semi regular basis and the shocks are still fine

    Do you know where to order rear drums for a 2014?

    • @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL
      @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL  Před 2 lety +1

      Dealer is going to have them but price might be high. They are available on ebay. If you call local auto parts stores (AutoZone, napa, ect) they will likely have them or could get them. Thanks for watching!

      @@FIXYFIXYCHANNEL When I had my rear drums replaced the 2 options from NAPA didn't fit. Mitsu made them just barely off forcing my brake guy to buy 2 OEM drums for $300 a piece! At least the wheel bearings come pressed into the drums.

    • @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL
      @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL  Před 2 lety

      Holy crap that's pricey! My drums are still good enough to reuse so I did not need to replace them. I didn't know these drum where so hard to find replacements!

    • @kylemas2005
      @kylemas2005 Před 2 lety +1

      @@FIXYFIXYCHANNEL Yeah I was pissed. The brakes shoe material is extremely thin too but the front pads do 80% of the breaking so this will be the last and only time I replace the drums.

    • @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL
      @FIXYFIXYCHANNEL  Před 2 lety

      I think the next time I do the rears I'll need new drums so I don't look forward to that expense.

    after first broken ratchet, you should have gotten a clue not to use cheater pipe on a ratchet

    would be nice if you used a torque wrench to torque your bolts
