Damn so many people are facing this issue. Going through forums and reddit, I'm shocked that the issue has been ongoing for more than a year and even the latest update doesnt fix it. I broke my 1tb external sd card trying to remove n install back the battery and fan hoping itd fix it (works according to some ppls advice. In the process of rma-ing my deck, and the same time im going through all the forums jotting down notes to prevent such issue in the future. Genuinely terrible experience, woke up a day wanting to boot up my deck trying to play baldur gate and ended up with a black screen. Solve that and what came afterwards was 9fps of glitchy running around gauntlet of shar. 😅
I just encountered for the second time the problem of the CPU collapsing at 399/400mhz and the support advised me to try these three things even if I doubt they solve anything: eliminate any third-party software such as deckyloader, restore the bios settings, reimagine steam os. some time ago it happened that the CPU crashed randomly then it stopped and I don't remember how (maybe luck?) now it's back.
Power down deck Hold volume up and power Goin into setup Utility Go to power Select battery storage mode Wait 5minutes Plug in charger reboot deck PROFIT
Biggest potential culprit is something causing a voltage sag - which is why it only happens on battery, below a certain %. Whether it's the battery itself or some component along the way, who knows?
What happened with mine and as far as I know the leading cause is when the device is plugged into a low voltage charger while playing. The charging rate can't keep up and eventually the battery icon will go red and it will enter a low power mode. When this happens there is a chance for the device to permanently enter the low power mode caping at the 200/400.
Duuude...you're at 87 degrees CELSIUS ON THE GPU AND 83 ON THE CPU !!! It is THROTTLING to not MELT...Simple as that...Just to be clear, the LOW TEMP SOLDER DETACHES at about 130 degrees CELSIUS...The machine is basically PREVENTING YOU from DESTROYING it...😂 Lower the game settings or don't play games that MELT it...Simple as that.
@@MaxLebled the probing that you see isn't realtime and is an average of the values. If you could check realtime temperatures, you would definitely see it spiking above the 95C threshold. Proof? Take the deck, place it in your fridge(or freezer) for a minute or two and try the test while it's below 60C or 50C(depending on the time you cool it, of course). KEEP IT THERE WHILE TESTING or it's useless, since it would go up again after a while. Come back with results, I'll wait.
Going through the same problem. Don’t want to RMA but not sure what else to do. Already tried 3.5.1 but didn’t work.

Hey bro, were you able to find a solution ?
Do we know what cause that?

The 3.4.11 update fixed it for me.

It's not throttling, that happens at 95 degrees. Throttling is also supposed to be gradual, and not like this.
