I surprisingly love this movie. I really liked it when I was younger and I recently just rewatched it and I still do. When I rewatched it though, I have to admit that they kind of exaggerated Yasmin’s heritage and also it’s very unrealistic bc high school isn’t like that. Overall it was a good movie tho :)

the thing I hate MOST about this movie is the fact they messed Chloe's personality all up. Yes, she was a blonde ditz but she was also a drama queen. (Sasha calling her Drama Mama in a lot of movies) Chloe scenes show her flipping out or overthinking things. She's a very bubbly and happy character who loves her friends to the end. Not some klutz who just exists for the sake of existing. She's playful, she's flirty, she's athletic, she's a bit of a klutz, she's dramatic but this is what makes Chloe- Chloe. Her friends help her stay grounded and the reason this peeves me so much is because Chloe was a comfort character to me. As a blonde haired blue eyes child, I took to Chloe because she looked like me and to see her painted as some dumb blonde makes my blood boil

I thought the whole thing of that guy being deaf was so stupidly pointless because he is so impossibly good at reading lips for someone who just went deaf a year ago and it doesn’t do anything for the plot he just has conversations with people as if he can hear them. He’s hot though.
I would like to retract my former statement. I just rewatched the Bratz movie and although I still stand by the fact that he was way too good at reading lips I have now made a friend who was thought to be going deaf so she had to learn to read lips. She didn’t go deaf but she is incredibly good at reading lips. Now that I think it’s more possible for someone who recently went deaf to be really good at lip reading I think it’s refreshing to have a character who can’t hear because you don’t see a lot of those character in a movie unless the movie is a tragic Oscar bait drama about a guy who went deaf. It’s nice to see a deaf guy be the love interest and it’s also a positive portrayal because they show him how he can still enjoy music even if he can’t no longer hear it. I think that’s really nice.

I never realized how bad this movie was until I rewatched it. I never liked Yasmin in here. The cartoon one made her have this beautiful angelic voice. But in the live action one, her voice was the opposite. She’s suppose to be the best singer in the group... didn’t really see it much in the movie. And she was ignorant (referring to the comment she made to Dylan in the beginning). I wish they had the twins in there too but I guess Meredith was suppose to represent them. And I feel like Sasha would’ve been on the dance team, not a cheerleader. Chloe should’ve been with the drama club, don’t think soccer fits her character. I just feel like it could’ve been better. I mean maybe they wanted to switch it up and give it more spice. But I refer the cartoon version over this one. My childhood self was too blind to see how awful this was 😂

A lot of the time, there will be Asian characters who act all rebellious and have highlighted streaks in their hair. It can be pretty cool when used correctly, but this trope is pretty overused tbh.
