  • How BIG Can WE GO?! A Resin Art by Daniel Cooper
Here is a Resin Art video which is a continuation of #192 and I want to see just how far we can go with our home made dipping resin, I'm very happy at how this experiment is going and must also test other viscocity UV resins to see if we get even better results!
You could potentially pre make any color and store away for future use, again, this is still in the experimental phase, I will make some and store it away to see if it is 100% usable after storage, I can't see why it would not work! THIS IS EPIC!!!
Please do NOT experiment with products which may be dangerous if mixed with resin!

I tried this the other day after watching the other video. It worked so well the flowers look great I gave the petals curves after the first dip then re dipped. Put my leftover mix into old brown pill jars used it again the next day still good as fresh. I added alcohol ink and it didn't block the cure. Yay now to let my imagination take over.

I've made miniatures for years. Using nail enamel as you stated in the last video. I've done larger pieces and think I may have an idea for you to experiment with larger pieces. I had the same problem with popping. What I did was to coat the wire frame, let it dry and it gives more for the product to grasp. The larger the piece a 2nd coating prior to filling works.

Hi Daniel, I just ran across your video. Wonderful! I'm a nail tech who started with nail resin LIGHT CONCEPT!!! , NOT ACRYLIC, 40 years ago. We used the same techniques to color resin before they came out with colored resins for nails. I so wish I had made contact with you years ago!!! To make a long story short; I now am a resin artist and have used my experience with nail resin in my art. I am totally impressed with your experiments,..so much to tell you! LOL I could write a novel for you right here,..all I can say is you are a very talented man and I wish you the best!!!

LOVE this experiment, Dan! That leaf is so cool! I'd wear that in a heartbeat...I love leaves. 💗
~ Daniel, the heart didn't work well probably because it wasn't flat. The dipped object really needs to be flat to start with.
~ If you completely cure the black layers first, you can then use the nail powder and rub it on firmly, rather than dabbing it. That prevents excess powder staying on, which interferes with the shine. Or, so say the nail experts. I keep my nails cut to the quick. 😅

A friend requested a 3 circle makeup holder made of clear resin with medium size gold glitter. She did not want the glitter to sink. Perfect timing with your Elmer’s clear glue video. I used the 1:1 Let’s Resin (not UV)for a quantity of one cup. After mixing 3.5 minutes I added 4 small drop of clear Elmer’s Glue. Within seconds the resin became moderately thick. I stirred in gold glitter and poured into the mold. 10 to 12 hours later I removed the mold. The resin holder looked great. The gold was mixed throughout the entire mold. If I were to critique my work there was a little extra glitter at the bottom, but nothing like in past projects.I was shocked to see glitter holding its’ location when I removed silicone mold. Amazing! This information is a sure winner. This is definitely a resin/glitter game changer. The friend continually told me how much she loved the makeup holder. Thank you, THANK YOU. Keep experimenting.😁

Thank you for sharing all of your experiments. I’m glad you like to experiment. I like that you have a bright, curious, and questioning mind. Not to be totally selfish (but it is definitely sound that way), but you make the process so much easier for the rest of us. I watch you and some other people, and my mind goes “what if I were to do this slightly different, what would happen?” I thought earrings or a pendant with the big one where you said that you could make jewelry. The leaf, I thought pendant, definitely pendent.
This seems to be all about surface tension versus size/area. I think there will be a point where the size is just too big to for the surface tension to hold.
This makes me think about trying to catch enough of the soap/water mixture on your bubble wand to go and run around blowing soap bubbles. (We used to use dish soap and water to make the solution we would use to blow bubbles)

I'm still in the learning phase here. Just an idea, on the leaf where you added the additional wire using UV Resin, would it work to add just a very tiny amount of a clear barely white holographic color to the UV resin so that when the leaf moves it kind of has a rainbow effect like Dew Drops in the morning? Just curious is all. Cause where you placed the UV Resin to keep the wires together reminded me instantly of morning dew. I thought it was cool at least.

Huh... I actually love both sides of the leaf you made. The black side gives a stubtle hint of color while the clear side hits you in the face with color. Both are pretty in their own way. 😍👍
BTW, for a temporary "dipping pot" any tall, narrow container that won't let liquids out will work. A tall pill bottle for instance. You don't make huge pieces so you really don't need anything bigger and if you can't find a dark container just cover it with duct tape or something similarly opaque so sunlight can't leak in and cure your resin. 😉👌
You're getting a bit better at working with the wire, yay! Good job! 👏😁

I love the you make the leaf frame using UV resin to join the wires. I thought you had soldered it at first

I've been experimenting with glitter glue and epoxy resin... Small drop added as I mixed, with or without regular glitter or color added. I find that it works very well BUT use caution on the amount of glue you add.

Love it. I wonder could you put the leaf with the purple petals and create a brooch? Or a fancy bag charm.

I noticed with the store brand the smaller the flower petal it sticks and won’t pot but the larger the size and the dip resin it is hard to get it to stick but I love the ability to make my own cause I hate paying all that money each time I need more and you made it look so easy lol thank you so wish me luck 😅
