  • FEATURED GLIDE BAITS:
    - DEPS Slide Swimmer 175 & 250 (wired2.fish/Sl...)
    - Bull Glide (wired2.fish/Bu...)
    - Storm Arashi Glide Glide Bait (wired2.fish/Gl...)
    - Savage Gear Shine Glide (wired2.fish/SG...)
    We wanted to show folks how different glide baits can look underwater. While the overall action is similar, certain baits can do certain things better than others. Staples like the Deps 250 can do it all but can sometimes be hard to get and out of some angler's price range.
    Newer glides like the Bull Glide have been offered in limited drops but give anglers a really unique option with a gilde that can be fished fast and erratic. You can make it swim really wide working it slow and feeding it line with your rod and you can even get it to swim up under things by gliding it harder and slower on one side and quicker and softer on the other. So it's versatile and different with unique weighting options. I've had success recently working it with wide twitches and long pauses.
    New glides like the Storm Arashi Glide Glide Bait will give anglers a good mass-produced glide at an affordable price point that has a good swim and is very workable in a larger profile. This will be a tremendous glide for anglers to learn glide bait fishing. It swims well and is easy to work and only $38 for a 7 1/2 inch 3 1/8 ounce glide bait.
    Then at the lower end of the price spectrum, you have a mass-produced bait like the Savage Gear Shine Glide. It comes in 5 1/4, 7 1/4 and 9-inch options and prices ranging from $18.99-$29.99. It has a good swim and can be worked with the rod and reel equally well. While it's not as seductive and proven as maybe a Deps 250, it's still a good glide bait for the average angler to learn glide bait fishing. Getting good with your quarter turns of the reel handle, pulling the rod to one side on the pause to get a bait to cascade off to one side. Or you can just throw the big 9-inch Magnum Shine Glide and slow reel it across big areas to draw big bass out.
    Hopefully seeing all these baits underwater will give you a feel for the versatility in various glide baits. I still recommend just sticking with a few different options like these and the other proven glides on the market and getting really good at what those glides do well.

    I tried glide baits once and spent most of the time getting it unsnagged from the riff raff. Maybe it will be better in the fall since the grass and weeds are starting to die off.

    It's kind of weird you just straight retrieve the deps when they are known for a big glide. You can easily get 3' from side to side with the 250 by doing half a turn or a quick turn and pause to let it glide way out.

      Appreciate comment Jack, yeah, the bait was not worked properly in this video. Filmed several years ago and definitely not showcasing what the lure is designed to do.

    Great video, especially to those of us who are just getting into them! I’m surprised the Jackall wasn’t included as it has 2 sizes now. What do you do when throwing the big glide baits toward shore as they make such a huge splash?!?!? Do you just wait longer to retrieve it??? I think when I’m throwing the bigger ones that they sound like I’m throwing bricks to the shore!! Any input on that from anyone who knows would be super appreciated!!

      @telefunkenyou47 Před 4 lety +2

      Jon Jon's BBQ and Catering - You can stop the cast before it hits the water, this loads the rod so when it hits it's immediately fleeing. This can cause a reaction strike from a nearby fish.
      The big splash can alert a big fish that something of significant size has entered its domain.
      The Jackall Giron isn't a true lazy side to side GlideBait due to its size but it seems to mimic a injured swimmer because the fish really like to check it out and a stop or a reel handle snap can get them to react.

      17-20lb flouro should be fine. I throw my glides on 20lb flouro regardless.
