Im thinking its collector fatigue but honestly people just need to collect what they like to collect and stop worrying about price and return as much. Im going hard into paldean fates even though people are saying it's not gonna be good. I love mimikyu, and he's on the etb and has some nice cards in the set. I will enjoy it regardless
To me it's pretty simple, this set is cheap beacuse it's meh. It's definitly not a bad set like you said but compared to VSTAR Universe, VMAX Climax or 151 this is very much meh.
There's also of course the fact that in Japan the craze FINALLY died down some time ago so breaking even while opening a set it's real hard.
That said the big cards like the Gardevoir or the Charizard are some of my favorites in the last couple of years so I will be picking them up for sure once prices go down a bit :D
I think there are just so many cards in the set and people aren't pulling what they want so prices and expectations are going down. Which I'm totally okay with. Gotten 2 boxes now under 50$ and will keep picking them up as they continue to drop.

VMax clamax and VStar univer both went down to about $70 because they print so much of it, but look at the price of them now

Prices are already at $43 a box in Japan. Saw a sealed 30 box lot for 1300 on Mercari Japan. less than 1 month out and already down to MSRP! This is great!
So many reused arts, and a handful of hits definitely curious to see what the English set does!
There is only 3 hits that I see, and they are nearly impossible to pull. AND those hits are dropping in price too. No reason to pick it up to open at all IMO
What three are you talking about? Just looking up the three SAR Pokémon and iono your looking at $100 or so each on mew and Gardevoir, $250 for charizard and $350 for iono. Nemona and Clive are still $30-50 each so it’s not like they’re heavy hitters, but still great hits almost worth a booster box if pulled. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t looked up the entire set, nor do I know release day prices, but to say there’s only 3 cards worth getting is an understatement.
@@nicklinn5731 for you that’s great, IMO I only see 3 hits that I’d be like YES I pulled it! And it’s the 3 SAR pokemon . If there are additional hits for you then it’s a good set to open.

Yup, not worth it. Got 2 boxes for $45 each with TT coupons. But I wouldn’t spend more than that.
Agreed. With how other S&V sets have gone, the few desirable hits in the set will most likely be dirt cheap 2 months after release in English, unless they throw the pull rates back to the SWSH days
This set was a huuuuuge disappointment. That's why it's dropping in price. Vmax climax and vstar universe really raised the bar and shiny treasure's bar is near my ankles.
I’m on 3 booster boxes cracked so far…no hits…maybe that’s why it’s going down in price 😅

I feel ever since Vmax Climax people are conditioned to think that Japanese boxes need to be 3x retail. Since 151 the Japanese market has cooled off (finally) and people aren't will to pay that ridiculous price for the boxes. 1.5x retail IMO is the sweet spot, which is exactly where Shiny Treasure EX is right now.
im excited for the enlgish but they definitely dropped the ball a little. more cards like the gardevoir ex or other art rares and less of the baby shinies.

Come on Jake. You aren't oblivious, you see the flaws in this set. You have to be a super fan to care about the third shiny set with this one featuring gen 9 pokemon that very few people care about. Compare this to hidden fates and you should be able to answer your question of why it's so cheap
I Haven’t bought anything since 151 and I don’t see myself buying much in 2024. The prices are crazy especially here in Canada.
This has been by far my favorite set. I've bought maybe 15 boxes so far over the past 2 weeks and had some very very great pulls. I have all but 2 of the high dollar cards. But I have the top 5 cards in there. Trying to by as many boxes before people start catching on and prices increase
I still really like this set. It's just fun to open.
It's cheap because of many reasons, like holiday and from my opinion...that Paldean Fates will sit like shiny fate. In all honesty, Pokemon is milking a lot of these cards and trend. It's getting old.💯
I'm waiting for paldean fates. Japanese cards look better than their English versions, but I've been collecting English sets since I was a kid
This set doesn’t get me excited to open. I prefer sets with more alt art style hits like Vstar Universe or 151. I bought one box for the sealed collection and the Mew EX SAR since that is the only card I really wanted.
Got a handful of boxes on launch and was pleased got a SAR and the shiny mew reg full art but yeah there’s only 3 real cards but in here for value
I worry English value will be as bad as shiny fates at this rate
Shiny sets will always be those sets where you just buy your favourite cards instead of actually opening any products

picked up one box for $65 w/ tax and shipping included, added it to the sealed collection and called it a day! i’m gonna focus on opening Paldean Fates instead

My kids freakin love this set cause there’s an ex in every pack! To them its a hit every time. They are super cheap here too. Like $30 a box after the exchange rate.

Singles prices for this set in English are going to be dirt cheap, and I’m glad. There’s a ton of great baby shinies in the set.

Excited to buy this at a cheaper price point. We get hosed for japanese product in Canada, and i LOVE shiny pokemon, so im excited to see it being more affordable.

I’m happy to buy a box or two for $60, which it’s fast approaching, but I’ll buy a bunch when they hit $50. Knowing the retail for around $40 in Japan, I’m willing to pay the premium for the foreign product.
LOL see you then… what jake is leaving out is every single Scarlet & Violet set (with the exception of SV 151) in Japanese has leveled out at ~$70
@@OGeniusTheFirst these holiday sets tend to tank by March. I’ve seen some of the SV sets go for below $50 this year too. It’s not unheard of, especially with the now ever present TikTok shop coupon.
TikTok has these for around $50-$60 a box. I would buy some at that price point but I just can’t collect them all. I would rather pick up 151 product even if it’s more expensive. Either Japanese or English.

In my opinion, even $70 per box is still a little steep. This set is way too big to complete for the average person by opening packs. It's only worth opening for the big chases, and even those aren't all that expensive besides the Iono SAR. I'm just buying singles of the ones I want the most, I could also buy a good chunk of the master set for under $100.
Paldean Fates though...I might spend the rest of next year cracking packs.😅

I have to say I’ve seen the pull rates and they have been horrible but surprisingly got my two boxes yesterday and I got the mew sar and the regular shiny charizard I love the mew card I’m so glad i didn’t spend 90 for the card

Pretty hard to compete with previous high class releases. Vmax Climax and vstar universe guaranteed you numerous AR’s, 1 SAR, and you could still get a SR as a bonus if you get lucky. Shiny Treasures seems like you’re most likely just going to get some babies and a full art shiny. Pretty boring in comparison. Personally I’m not opening this set. I’ll buy my fav SAR’s in English, and probably only for the cost of a few ETB’s
Funny that you mentioned not being able to tell Wigglytuff is shiny- you actually missed a regular shiny Wiggly in the first box and put it into your bulk pile. 😂

Nah, the set is selling pretty well here in Japan. The difference is that the Pokémon company has finally adjusted to the market and is printing a bit more. There is already a reprint schedule for January for this set and we could get even more. This year and last year was crazy for scalping so I think it is finally toning down

too many secret rares, lackluster roster compared to hidden fates, visually unappealing cards and in a shiny pokemon set they gave us THREE shiny pokemon alt arts and gave us an absurd amount of trainers that i know nobody asked for. that’s basically the issues with it

Let me put my foil hat on, because I bought 8 boxes. Four of them had the same full art Pidgeot, two Glimmora, and two Mews. Similar thing happened to me with FF/AR before this. Don’t necessarily think they were reseals, but what are those odds?
Pokemon company thought if theres a pricey charizard card in 1 box eventhp the rest are meh.. box will still high in price 🤣
Shining treasures sucks overall. I think it's one of the worse sets of 2023. Only like 3 good cards that I'd actually want in my collection

Just look at the previous shiny sets. Hidden Fates and Shining Fates were great until the trainer gallery cards became the standard in the later SWSH sets. Going back to 'basic' shining cards is kind of boring in comparison to all of the gallery cards we've been spoiled with.
I bought 2 boxes... I think I got scammed. Same baby Shiny and same Full Art Shiny. I was happy with the first box and the second box just took away all the fun and added disappointment.

There is no con for a cheap set to a true collector. I wouldn’t mind seeing boxes hit MSRP…why should that make it a bad set? The set is amazing, 2nd best in S&V imo…only problem with it is how thin it’s spread out, if there was a single extra guaranteed hit (like a UR or SR trainer that an SAR could also take the slot of) boxes would easily be 100+…I’m waiting to see what hit rates will be in English but in the meantime I love that I can get affordable boxes and singles of a fantastic set!

I got the mew shiny card from the English about a month and a half ago and I just bought the Japanese shiny treasure box for $ 56.00 and I got the shiny mew in Japanese....✍️✝️🇺🇲

Fast Forward April 2024. I just bought a single box for ~$44AUD
This set does nothing for me. I dont need reprints and I don't like shiny pokemon colors.
I think the set is a miss it's way too hard to master and doesn't have enough unique arts to make someone want to keep ripping after they get their chase.
I think it's an okay set, definitely leagues better than shining fates, but still nowhere near the level of hidden fates. It's like they never realized it's the popular shiny pokemon people liked and instead tuey put more and more random shinies nobody cares about in these sets, making it harder to pull the actual stuff people want
I dont know why they are dropping so much. Its an insane chance for investment
For me, there aren't many desirable cards in this set. The Charizard collecters can just buy the Charizard, the Mew collecters can just buy the Mew, and then there's nothing else really that noteworthy. Most adults aren't interested in collecting the new generation pokemon, which take up a majority of the set. The baby shinies have become boring and feel like a very lazy design choice. They would be allot cooler, if they each had unique art in the background.
The Pokémon selection just isn’t strong enough and 4 shiny SIRs is just not enough, combined with the new gold cards that people aren’t to fond of and you have a weak set imo… the English variation is going to be even weaker
