This brings back memories of when I took modeling classes at a dept. store. Back straight, shoulders and hips perfectly aligned. When you walk, your feet had to be in line with the hips swinging from side to side while your whole torso from the neck to the hips like a pendulum from the base of the neck, while head stayed straight and on and on and on...... Perfect posture was everything and I never realized how hard it really was to condition the body and mind to work together. Then I found out many years later that I had scoliosis, so it was no wonder I couldn't get it. But I certainly had more appreciation for the hard work that models did to learn how to sell clothing.
This runway is reminisce to the 90's era runway fashion show which was really a joy to watch. Sadly you don't see this kind of walk on today's fashion show.
They walk beautifully. So confident. I'm 26 with twins and have no intention of becoming a model. I was a novice (almost a nun) for years and now I'm having fun learning new skills like tai chi, sign language, bicycling, computers, hair styling and now cat walking is my latest fascination. It's cool to watch and its not that easy with bare feet in my living room. I can't imagine in high heels and long dresses. I respect models more now.
+Tom Stockdale Agree! I'm a working fashion model and we usually don't walk like this, unless the designer specifically wants it. Nowadays, we usually don't move arms and we most likely keep them straight behind the body, unless we have pockets, then we have one or two hands in the pockets. And we keep hips from moving as well.
Love the video. Do you have any suggestion on a great brand(not too too expensive if possible but would love to hear ur opinion) pair of heels that can be my got practice heels for go sees. I have some but I am still searching for a really great heel. It is amazing how much better I walk the higher the heel. Thanks so much for your help.
The woman with black hair didn’t swing her hip much so she looks stronger and bolder. Plus even she move strongly, her waist looks completely still, i think the point is only moving you shoulders and legs, not the upper body.
When I walk I feel like there's a bigggg delay between my heel and my toe. I'm talking about from when I put my weight on my heel (I try to do heel toe heel toe heel toe) to my toe. I feel confident on my heel, then I feel like all my weight is falling on my toe. I feel like i'm falling when the weight goes on my front toe. This makes me walk slow & I feel awkward doing it.. Confused??
If you are walking in heels, you don't really want to go heel to toe, even if the bottom of the shoe is solid. It's a good way to trip and roll your ankle/break your shoe. The way I learned to walk in heels? Spend some time in your house barefoot, and walk on your toes. As crazy as it sounds, it's easier to start like you are wearing tall heels (4" or taller). As you get more comfortable with balance, gradually drop the height. This will strengthen your calves. (and make them look great too!) Once you can walk around comfortably with 1" tall "air heels", put on your actual heels and step squarely on the shoe. The few times I've tripped in heels were from someone bumping into me, even in winter and loose footing. Hope this helps! :)

me too. But they say practice makes it perfect. I guess i need a bit of practice to catwalk.
