    Thank you. Great review. I have a house built in the 70s and there are several “step downs” into rooms that are all on the same floor. I am wondering if it’s worth it since I will have to set the vac down in each individual room and not sure how it will map the house since it cannot go over those steps.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  Před 3 lety

      It depends on if you like to vacuum or prefer to move it around. You would have to do multi maps of each section, treat it like a new level and then setup a schedule to do one room. Move it to another and so on and let it run in each maybe once a week. I would probably opt for Hoover Cordless Upright. You can still move around without the cord and change floors easy. amzn.to/2SV952H (its on sale on Amazon for Prime Day too at $249)

  • @doctormarc4709
    @doctormarc4709 Před 2 lety +1

    Just got my Costco iRobot i8+. I have a mapping question. I understand that 3 mapping runs would be optimum, but I am confused if there is a special mapping setting so that it sees each of the 3 mapping runs as updating the same space, or do you just initiate a mapping run without special labeling and it automatically updates the floor plan without special naming so it recognizes the floor plan map on the 2nd and 3rd run. Hope this makes sense.
    Also if you map a different floor, e.g basement floor, will this overwrite the main floor plan already in memory? When do you name the mapping run_before the run or after 2 or 3 mapping runs of the same area? A little confused as to how to get 3 map runs properly labed as to floor. Thanks. Love your work.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  Před 2 lety

      Just let it map it might take 3-4 runs. If it is missing a room each time it goes out, pick it up and move it to that room and then resume mapping. Once mapping is complete then you'll see your layout and it'll ask you to setup your room labels, dividers, zones, etc....
      You can map up to 10 different floors, they will have separate maps. This way you can move it and then run it and take it back to empty. You'll be able to label the maps what you want them to be, such as Downstairs and Upstairs or Basement, etc...
      Hope this helps

    I bought the i8+ and I'm not sure how to settle all the good features that you mention and the user guide is a little vague on that. Could you recommend a video or page that could help me? Thanks.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  Před 2 lety

      I don't understand. What features? The i8+ and i7+ are the same except with i8+ you get the bigger battery, extra accessories. You just have to load the app, setup an account > connect wifi (follow the app walkthrough) and then let it run and map your floor, and then once the map is done, you will be able to set zones up. If you have something urgent you don't want it around or a room, use the invisible wall included (just turn it on and sit it on the floor). Then let it map, once map is done you can remove the invisible wall.
      Does that help? I also have this video, czcams.com/video/nGD9zKEsZ2A/video.html

    can the s8+ map and vacuum multi-level houses & if so how is this accomplished ( by physically moving recharging stations to each level in the same spot?)

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  Před 2 lety

      Yes it can do up to 10 maps. And yes you'll have to physically move it to another level and select the map and job to run it. You do not have to move the re-charging station unless you feel like it can't run the floor on one battery charge. This is why I got one for upstairs one year and the next year one for downstairs. One of those videos is live and more coming.

      @@Zachus do you have to take the base up to the next level or what

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  Před 2 lety

      No you don't have to, you can carry the robot to each level. To empty it you will have to take it back to the base and tell it to go home and then it'll empty itself out. Mine does pretty good, you should get at least one floor in before needing to empty it out.

    My sweet husband gifted me with this vacuum. Our living area is brick paved, The bricks are uneven. I can't even on it with bare feet. WI don't vacuum it now, I sweep it well and mop it. Will this new Roomba take the unevenness without being harmed? I originally just expected to do the hardwood floors in the bedrooms. I don't want the Roomba i8+ to die an untimely death because we used it on these brick floors.
    I am also having quite a hard time understanding how to use it. I left it docked overnight but how do I tell if it's fully charged? I am going to download the app, and I am hopeful that will help. The online manual isn't very easy to understand.
    Thanks in advance!
    KC Moreau

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  Před 2 lety

      I would not recommend it. It's not made for outside and the mortar could damage it. You can put up the invisible wall while it's mapping and then it will not map that area and you can even for extra caution after it maps, go in and add a Keep Out Zone area. Hope this helps

      New video on this coming and here's one I just posted today on j8+ czcams.com/video/q3S1lBDTDzw/video.html
      i8+ is costco version of the i7+ and now the new j7+ that came out last year has it's Costco version the j8+ I'm working on a video showing the difference in these two but bottom line is j8+ is WAY better than the i8 or i7. Better technology, bigger bin capacity but I will say the i8+ is solid if you are trying to stay on budget. I used it for a year with no issues.

    I just bought this vacuum today. Don't understand what it is doing. It has been vacuuming, charging, vacuuming, charging for 4 hours now and still isn't done??? It is zig zagging every which way and missed half the kitchen and multiple other areas. Makes absolutely no sense. Mine seems to be missing it's brain. Going to get up early tomorrow and see if it can clean everything in 8 hours otherwise it's going back to Costco. My Neato cleans everything in a couple of hours and doesn't miss anything. If I have to get out another vacuum to vacuum everything the Roomba misses, there's no point to it. Maybe I just got a defective one???

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  Před 2 lety +2

      It is mapping. It takes time to map out everything carefully. Give it a couple of days and then it will reveal the map to you in the app and it will run straight lines. It is in a discovery phase now. Mine does 1,000 sq ft in a couple of hours.
