Candi Staton is a legend, as soon as I hear her name, such legendary songs from Disco and House music as Young Hearts Run Free or You Got The Love or more recent Hallelujah Anyway come to mind and you think wow! I’ve also been saying her surname incorrectly all these years 😂
She pronounced her name as 'STAY-TON' and Melvo keeps pronouncing it as 'STAT-ON'. Jeeez.
I have always felt that she should have never done Victim, for me, it weakened the message of Young Hearts Run Free.
That made me laugh real hard. 🤣 It is a different song at a different period in her life. She sings "I became a victim of the very songs I sing". 🎵
